Doing content + getting gear is what makes it fun. Just content without a prize isn't that fun and not very repeatable. Just like getting welfare gear also isn't fun

When you do a raid, even on hard mode, it's still ostensibly part of the game world.Even a queued dungeon is sort've just a mechanical function of "hey your character is now in this dungeon" and you do whatever happens there.

There's many other contrivances in wow such as world quests or even delves where you can excuse their mechanics as being part of experiencing the game world. With M+ though it's a thorough raping of everything an MMO is, skullfucking it to death.

Everything, EVERYTHING is about speedrunning with a bunch of bing bing wahoo autistic affixes and wacky things happening in them, and people are ADDICTED. They cannot help but complete run and get excited for next run riding the thrill of doing the same fucking dungeon AGAIN, completely rushing past anything and everything, for teh epic l00t.

Dungeons have been thoroughly gutted as a content form because designers are ONLY designing them for Mythic+. The only possible exceptions since M+ came out is potentially the megadungeons.

They no longer have charm or immersion as you might have found in something like Stratholme or others you remember fondly pre-legion.

They're just skinnerboxes where the entire world they've developed and all lore and all character elements go out the window so you can smash buttons and screech on discord as you attempt to finish content as quickly as possible.

You could literally make the next mythic season take place in a completely plain grey room where you move to the next platform where random traps and obstacles pop up and Mazerats wouldn't blink an eye- all that matters is timer go down and loot goes up.

Enemy forces is a weird chestnut. In pure linear dungeons like workshop/rookery its a non-issue but in dungeons like floodgate theres some real pick and choosing going on. I think dungeons this season do a pretty good job of ensuring you reach 100% with a run it down mid route (AD used to require you to pull extra shit all the time for example).

Not all dungeons have to be linear necessarily. In some dungeons you should be able to choose if you want to do this or that boss first, go right or go left, do these packs or those packs together. But by the end of it, every single mob in the dungeon should be dead.
But Blizzard likes to add all of these "cosmetic" packs everywhere for some reason. That's why I said some dungeons would require a redesign.

Also, some dungeons should never be part of the M+ pool. Like Mists (RNG % maze) or City of Threads (mandatory 10-minute long RP section) last season.

I think they should add another type of instanced content. Let's call it "Adventure".
Big-ass dungeons with a ton of role-playing opportunities (Rogues can picklock a door to unlock a secret room, STR-based classes can push a huge boulder to unlock a secret passage, Frost and water-based classes can solidify the lava so the party can walk over it, a Priest can convince a boss to repent through dialogue options skipping the fight entirely, a Shaman can use Far Sight to look into a guarded room to discover a password...)
Honestly that's what I thought Delves would be, when they announced single-player content. Instead of, you know, the shitty "M+ with an NPC" we got.

Adventures should never be in the M+ pool, but dungeons should always be designed to be fast, well paced, combat-focused and spammable. Not this in-between thing they're trying to do.
