He's a big body with average to bad range on his normals, slow startup slow recovery as well. Bad forward and back walk speeds, back forward and back dashes, bad drive rush, no reversal, no reversal SA1, no fireballs, he's basically missing everything you need to be good in SF6 and what he does have is below average at best aside from his command grab. But without any other real threats, getting hit by those command grabs is kind of your own fault.

The nerfs to his hurbox was universal. Standing, walking, dashing, jumping, and attacking, his hurtbox was increased across the board as a reaction to the complaints about drive rush in general having retarded hurtboxes. So they basically gave every character a huge range buff against Zangief in every situation.
At this point Zangief has had 95% of the benefits of being a big body grappler removed in SF6, the only thing keeping him going is character loyalists and grapplers being general scrub killers regardless of viability at higher levels.

He might still stomp retards in lower ranks forever, but Gief players got fucked in this patch.

I just hate that the game is designed to make offense way easier and punish defense way harder, while also forcing the defender to commit to risky options that reward the attacker even more if they guess wrong on defense.
Every character plays like Cammy and sticks to you like fucking glue once you block a button and you're either going to get wallsplatted or eat a PC throw and both lead right back into the same pressure, so the only actual real option for stopping offensive pressure is to offensively pressure the other guy even harder.

SFV had a ton of characters I wanted to try but I have not switched off my main since day 1. KOOKILY roster.

CS2 has been in shambles since launch, Tekken 8 turned out to be a complete disappointment and will probably never be truly fixed, SF6 is the most promising but the devs refuse to support it and the patch go inch by inch.
