Sonic Colors Ultimate was awful for a remaster and thankfully shown many people that Colors wasn't good to begin with.
Frontiers was a decent attempt to get away from the 2010s era of Sonic, although suffers from all the pointless references and callbacks. It's not a bad game, but definitely growing pains for the Sonic franchise getting back on track after doing nothing worthwhile for a entire decade.
Sonic Superstars was awful. It could have easily been a great game but it failed horribly due to weird decisions like bosses taking forever to die and poor state design.
Shadow Generations was really good and uses the Frontiers style of gameplay pretty well. The only issue is that the english dub isn't good.
Then Crossworlds looks pretty disappointing. I'm not sure it will survive past the updates when it's not appealing towards Sonic fans.
I would say it's a bit better than the 2010s, but can't beat the 2000s.
