I like the cards and think this event could have been a lot better if they focused on that and wacky dream fights. We didn't need Inanna moping for 5 weeks and a retelling of the hobo Inanna saga. I don't *hate* it like most everyone else but they needed to ether remove the stamina requirements or actually make using the stamina worth it. I grinded fantasy IV until I got a new combo but it's not worth doing for half a dozen nightmare fights and this and next weeks shop isn't much beyond the rolls/castalla.

Isn't the entire Inanna Spiral just a prelude event? I thought they added a real Inanna route when SP Inanna released.

There's a game mode called Spiral of Destiny that plays like a normal srpg with multiple paths with good and bad ending. (Union, Papal State, Iria, and Eleman route). You can start there if you want.

We really should make an auto tier-list since that's what really matters once you're at end game for 90% of fights you don't feel like playing.

For me it's Agata, Kvare, Estra, Pamina and Ayisha. You can usually get away with no support unit but Taair is good for heals and speed and Cocoa gives you a rock who can take hits. My problem with SP Rawi is she tends to run way ahead turn 1 and suicide while Estra ai always uses her movement after Blinding Strike to run away from mobs. Momo is also a surprisingly good auto character who I still use in that role but she doesn't have the reach of the others.

Once actual DPS units starting coming out the OG damage units Rawi/Col/Beryl fell off pretty hard. I try to use Beryl for her BOOM aoe and everything is already dead by the time she gets in range. She was S tier though in the beginning I don't finish the tower without her fire tile cheese attack.

Nydia reminds me of Nungal, an archer that can run two very different builds but requires a ton of castalias to unlock both setups. And Nydia takes that one step further by also requiring 5* for one of her builds. All that investment and you get a character who's pretty good, but not the very best, which is another reason why people tend to skip her.

use Safi's +40% defense move, make sure Taair gives your squishiest units +20% damage reduction, buff defense with Gloria as well. Then just do the typical warhorn+phys def down on Luvata and drain her energy with Estra and Homa. Luvata can't do anything with no energy so you only have to worry about Beryl, which the +defense and damage reduction should let you survive.
Note my stat talents are maxed so this may not work for everyone, I'm a day 1 f2p.

Nevermind, got it. Team was Taair 3*, Sp Safi 4*, Agata 5*, Homa 3* and Estra 3*. Tactics used were War Horn and on a later turn I used that big full heal/debuff cleanse to restore health. Bursted Luvata down (not sure why she didn't teleport to the SW like she usually does) and then Beryl got boxed in between the water and a rock. Lucky cup+wand gave me an extra Caged Reverie to survive the second BOOOOOM and then Beryl was dust.

Is it worth getting into Langrisser M? I heard someone describe it as very similar to Sword of Convallaria

Having to drop it shortly after launch is my biggest regret of my gacha career. Game was amazing (despite the rough translation issues at the very start). Loved the characters, art, gameplay, music, everything. But it felt like a full time job with all the stuff going on, especially the realtime guild co-op at specific narrow windows of time each day. I could've kept with it, but I would've had to give up all my other games, and I couldn't back then. Now I've far too much FOMO to go back.
They also have the most awesome lineup of collabs I've ever seen in a game, and that's coming from someone who's played a lot of collabs and never really liked them.
I would say Lang and that SD Gundam game are the only real options for a gacha srpg other than SoC until Mecharashi comes out at the end of this month.

Well that was a pain in the ass. I just went through all the dream card sets to find out their set bonuses. Ignore the tip window on the main screen that lists them all, as it frequently mistranslates and gives wrong names for cards. One set even has every single card listed as a different card incorrectly. So just go through your card catalog and look for the tags yourself.
Except for Genuine Sincerity, which had its name mistranslated and ISN'T EVEN TAGGED AS PART OF ITS SET! Which is Back from the Brink, which requires 4 cards instead of 3 so if you equipped the 3 BftB cards and didn't get the set bonus, that's why. Unyielding (probably the best set imo) also has 4 cards. Here's what equipping all the cards in a set does:
>Kind Heart: grants extra skill that summons Dream Puru and removes 5 stacks of Hassle Corruption at the start of battle.
>Encouraged Heart: grants extra instant skill that grants all allies ATK IV and DMG Reduction IV for 1 turn and removes 5 stacks of Hassle Corruption at the start of battle.
>Convallaria Everywhere: grants extra skill that has infinite uses, unlike the previous 2, and auto-summons a Dream Puru at start of battle. While this skill is possessed, spawn a Dream Convallaria in front of Inanna at the start of turn. Also has the usual remove 5 stacks of HC at start of battle.
>Inner Warning: grants extra skill that performs Alert in 5 tiles around Inanna for 120% Magic Damage. Also removes 5 stacks of Hassle Corruption at start of battle.
>Back from the Brink: grants a 1 use instant skill that nullifies Spreading Dream Terror on all enemies for 2 turns. While possessing this skill, Hassle Corruption does not negatively affect you.
>Unyielding: grants a 1 use instant skill that grants all enemies 1 stack of Spreading Dream Terror. While possessing this skill, all allies deal 50% more damage to enemies with SDT and you are immune to Hassle Corruption.

Yeah that was it. I was trying to minimize def and damage reduction topics before, but it turns out cutting down the HP bloat was more important if Estra is the only one contributing damage anyways. The high def doesn't matter much when you line up Homa's P.Def Down 3 with Warhorn. Screw the other topics though, I don't need the Octo-cans, I got all the lucxite and shards so I'm done.

I've played Langrisser and SoC since release, and still play Langrisser occassionally in addition to SoC. Calling them similar is a massive euphemism in favour of SoC; it lifted most of its mechanics, both SRPG mechanics such as the role relations and the meta-structure of the gacha game, straight from Langrisser. This isn't a bad thing, because Langrisser does a lot of things very well.
At the SRPG level, I'd say the key difference is that SoC has an individual speed-based turn system whereas Langrisser has a player phase-enemy phase structure (think Tactics Ogre vs. Fire Emblem).
At the meta level, Langrisser is primarily a PVP game. There's a lot of PVE content, but most of it got powercreeped beyond all reason by the PVP arms race units; enemies already couldn't fight back against +2 range mages, now you have access to ones with +15 range.
The actual challenging PVE content that remains isn't that great either, 9/10 challenges are dogshit pseudo-MMO boss fights. Imagine the flower boss from the last ToA event, except with three times the mechanics and twice the HP, and that's your average Langrisser challenge map.
That said, after some 6 years, there's just so much PVE content that you have a dozens of hours worth of decent story and some decent challenge maps ahead of you if you choose to start now. Also, the PVP experience is more or less wholly unique, I don't think there's another game, including proper non-gacha games, that offers anything close to this level of complexity in terms of SRPG PVP.
On the presentation and story level, Langrisser is full-on 90's anime cringekino, with all the good and the bad that implies. If you enjoy that kinda style (I certainly do), it's very much worth a go for this alone.

WTF is Nightmare XV?
On turn 2, Viledream Inanna does her big aoe. It kills every single person in my party from max hp through big def buffs. It says it does extra damage based on how many Spreading Dream Terror Stacks she has when she casts it. I got her down from 4 to 1 stack and it still instawiped me.
What do I do here?
And what do those little thorns she summons do? I thought she might be getting amped off them, so I destroyed all but one of them, but it changed nothing.

I think that im about to quit, but it was pretty enjoyable if only because it has such a great artstyle and a unique take on the formula, thanks to Spiral of Destiny.

All of the actual rewarding endgame stuff is getting more and more powercrept fast though, and the currency rates on this game are amongst the worst I've played, unless you're roughly twice as lucky as the average. The event pacing is super fucking inconsistent, and you can count on 2-3 weeks of content overload every 4 months or so, punctuated entirely by copypasted events and new characters that fall into one of two categories: hyper niche/less than mediocre unit, and absolute chad mechanic ignoring demigod.
