This is what happens when you think you can do better than the original artists. Instead of basing it on CE's color palette, they based it off of what CE was basing it on. In doing so, they ignored the art style and landed on a soulless digitalized pacific northwest biome. Is it more realistic? Yeah. Does it look better? fuck no.
Real life environment, in the way it comes about, doesn't take into account all the little things that make the human brain tingle. The study of art has produced methods of making that happen. That's what art style is about. You want to represent things in ways that play into all the weird cross-wired brain chemistry we all have.
There is nowhere on this planet that looks like the level Halo. But there are so many places that look like shitfinite's overworld that I could wipe my ass with them. They put no effort into making it blend together in a satisfying way. They have no fucking direction. No style, no substance.

That game is the most underrated cod in general. In most areas it's a straight up improvement over mw2. You have to really nitpick to find ways its worse. It definitely has less color variety in the campaign. Lots of crushed blacks and brown and metal environments. But the multiplayer is significantly more balanced, and yeah the spec Ops was a huge improvement over 2's. It also had a better post-launch content delivery cycle. Arguably still sledgehammer's best game.

Halo 2 has the most fun needler in the franchise because you can dual-wield them.
CE's warthog doesn't even blow up when you shoot it with a rocket launcher, and killing someone in a scorpion is really unsatisfying because there's no feedback aside from the tank just stopping. Vehicles need to explode when destroyed. 2 is the worst of the Bungie Halo trilogy, no arguments there, but Halo 2 does have a few good points about it. We wouldn't have Halo 3 if it weren't for 2. In fact, when 3 came out, everyone called it Halo 2.5 and people complained about it feeling laggier and slower than 2. And 3 is my favorite Halo. The good thing about Ultimate Firefight is not just that, but being able to force interesting situations to happen thanks to the variety of the sandbox and all the AI units running around doing silly stuff with that sandbox.
