if you're playing an M1 killer (that means a killer who can only or very often attacks with a basic attack, ie the M1 button), surge is pretty good. here are other gen regression and protection options, I'll put in brackets which killers the perks come from

>Hex: Ruin (Hag perk) and any form of totem protection
>Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (Artist perk), can be paried with Dead Man's Switch (Deathslinger perk) to also block the gen it regresses for a long while
>Pop Goes The Weasel (Clown perk), good on it's own but can be paired with other gen kicking perks

You can also run Grim Embrace (Artist perk) to passively block generators, and a perk which used to be called Deadlock, I don't know what it's called now, but it's a universal perk that blocks the most progress generator for a while whenever a generator is completed

It can depend which killer you are, though. You should definitely look at this site which will give you multiple builds for each killer based on what you have available:

It's a snowball perk. Doesn't do a whole lot for you if everyone is sitting on gens, but once you've got a few injuries on the board it can bring progress to a standstill.

It is is pretty bad, it could have zero cooldown and still be bad. The reason why is this:
1) Against new players who fails Oppression skill checks every time or often, you were going to win anyway.
2) Against better players, Oppression will take them off guard exactly once each, then never again. They might not even fail the first surprise skill check, I've succeeded at them plenty of times.
3) The regression on gens not being worked on is about as useful as if you went up and kicked them without any perks yourself, which is to say, not useful. If there's a generator somewhere not regressing with no survivors working on it, it's because they've let go a moment to heal someone or go unhook someone, they'll be back before the regression matters.

Nemesis has a great chase power, and he does have varying map pressure with his zombies. You can use Dead Man's Switch to see occasionally when survivors have to let go of a gen because of a zombie.
Ghostface, I'll just let you know, is a very weak killer. He can do well against solo players, but full four mans or three mans or even duos can just keep him perpetually called out and exposed. I don't mean to burst your bubble with this and I hope you have fun with him, but just a fair warning.
Knight does have some map pressure, it depends how he uses his guards. Some knights will keep one player perpetually running from the jailer and never able to do anything.
Dredge is highly map dependant, some maps have lots of lockers and some maps have few. His loop power is something like a 50/50 and fun to use. I definitely think he's fun.

the thing with pop is that it takes 30% off the current repair progress, not 30% off the total repair progress. so it's only worth using on gens above about 50% anyway, and you always want to be using your one kick per hook state on the gen with the most progress, but no holds barred stops you from doing that. pain resonance is probably the best gen regression perk in the game, the regression is a flat % of the total gen progress unlike pop and doesn't require you to go to the gen. nurse can certainly stop to kick gens but she probably wants to just be chasing all the time, I personally run a full aura reading build when I play nurse.

the starting aura reading of lethal is useful, but the main point of it is that it extends all instances of aura reading by 2 seconds. for free aura reading, try predator from wraith and hex: retribution from deathslinger. predator can be particularly good on nurse if you let them 'escape' and then just get a free blink, but it has a long cooldown. retribution probably needs to be paired with some other hex perks and when it pops the aura reading is a once a game thing, but it's a long time.
bitter murmur is a universal perk, you can give it a try.

The powers are just too boring. Baseline killer is obviously always going to be stronger than baseline survivor, the survivors also don't really have any way to team up to make use of the powers. They should have done something actually fun and chaotic like shuffling perks mid match, teleporting a survivor to a different gen while they're working on one, having half and half maps (literally 2 different maps so you'd have like half shelter woods and half thomson house or something), having treasure chests with random temp buffs either side can open, shifting fog density and hook distance one way or the other randomly mid match.

Pain Res requires you to chase and down the survivor and put then put them on a scourge hook which rng can fuck you over and has to be separate survivors, same with Grim you have to four hook people to get any real value out of it which you really don't want to do that if you're going against good survivors and swfs, same with Pop but without the scourge hook and you have to kick a gen, Eruption requires you kick a gen and then get a down. He has a ranged attack. You look in the direction of the generator, look up, and shoot when you're at the right distance for how far you're looking up. Bringing the terror radius down from 32 to 24. enables shots you otherwise couldn't hit without alerting the survivors.
By the way, another Unknown build is Friends til the end, Alien Instinct, Furtive Chase and Unforseen. It's a stealth build. You hook someone, you see the aura of both the obsession and the farthest injured survivor if they are two different people. Injured survivor is oblivious. You can teleport near whichever one is more convenient. If you hook the obsession, you get a speed boost and become undetectable. If you haven't hooked anyone yet you kick a gen to become undetectable. This build doesn't have any slowdown or even lethal pursuer to show you where to go at the start, but once you do get a hook it makes it a lot easier to get subsequent ones because nobody knows who you are going for or where you are coming from.

I don't know if this has a name already but I'll just call it the 'making many' effect. It's where you're making the same thing for lots of different people, and each of these people want the thing and will probably only see and appreciate their own thing, but you as the person making all of them start to feel they're all the same and you need to start spicing them up and making some out there ones.

So as an example, the DBD devs might start making some weird fast food wagie cosmetics, I don't know. They make some for Meg, Dwight, Claudette and Jake, and these are what you expect. Simple wagie uniforms, maybe with a logo. But then still need to make four more for Ace, Feng, Kate and Sable, and by this point they feel the cosmetics are all getting boring and samey, so they make some really out there ones with like a mascot head and one with tomato sauce and deep fat fry stains all over it, I don't know. So the next day both a Dwight player and an Ace player hear of the new cosmetic range and go to buy it, and Dwight's one is a wagie outfit with a silly little burger cap and he's happy with ti and buys it, but Ace goes to see his, and it's massively overdesigned and a mess to look at and he doesn't want it. All because the designers didn't take into account that as samey and mundae as the designs are getting for themselves, for the players, the one they buy for their character will probably be the only one they see.

Self Care is regarded as a troll perk 99% of the time and mainly associated with noobs who spend the entire match healing themselves in a corner for 2 minutes being totally useless.

Bond is genuinely a better "healing perk" than Self Care because you can easily locate teammates who will heal you MUCH faster than you will with Self Care. Remember the Killer can only chase one(1) of you at a time; if they aren't chasing you and are chasing someone else, you have two buddies to heal with.

Otherwise you have a decent setup. Aura perks are really helpful when you're new and aren't familiar with Survivor macroplay. Unbreakable is pretty mediocre though because you can only use it once. Since you already have Open-Handed and two other aura perks, you might do well with a third aura perk to get max benefits and really help you orient yourself to wtf is going on.

Self care takes way too long without at least botany, you shouldn't ever take it without at least botany as well. Unbreakable is ultimately pretty niche and you're better off trying to not go down at all. If you want a self heal without bringing a medkit you'd be better off getting Pharmacy from Quentin or the Sable basement heal perk.

I'd suggest try dropping unbreakable and open handed for resilience and deja vu for baseline perks. Or prestige Feng Min and get Alert (drop one of the other aura perks for this) and Lithe. Resilience is a really great perk because sometimes you just need to play injured and even if you don't stay injured the vault speed will give you a good chance of escaping the killer.

Having an exhaustion haste perk is borderline necessary against M2 killers where you just need to shift W away from them.

Resilience + Deja Vu + Alert + Lithe is a really good generalist build and you can swap Alert or Deja Vu for Bond or Kindred if you prefer those.

Any killer that is able to power up on other survivors mistakes (kaneki, legion, oni, myers, etc) are usually not fun to go against since I play solo queue. But Legion is probably king of unfun. They always bring thanataphobia or w.e it's called where gens go 20% slower pretty much all game. It's just not enjoyable.

The idea is that the trap timer is already so long that many survivors simply ignore it outright because the map state(for example 2 gens left and survivors can tell they're almost done) lets them be reasonably confident. 150 seconds is REALLY long in this game. A gen only takes 90 seconds to do solo for example.

The shorter timer addon being popular is because it pushes survivors to actually feel some level of urgency, meaning your power can actually disrupt their game plan.

Nemesis was specifically created and deployed to demonstrate that BOWs aren’t solely mindless killing machines that kill everything in sight, but also capable of locating and killing specific targets, even in a city in ruins and descended into chaos. At the same time, he was deployed to kill Jill who had explicit knowledge of what Umbrella had done and was up to after the events of RE1. Honestly the issue is all survivors are just new skins. No new survivor release will ever generate as much attention as new killers. The only way to "balance" it is to make survivor perks more powerful. You see the reverse in action too with Freddy Fazbear having pretty mediocre perks but an overloaded kit.

I have no idea how BHVR could even fix this. I guess they could make it so every survivor needs to take one of their own perks minimum? But that's not as big of a restriction or gameplay shift as the difference between killers.
