It's a bit confusing. It starts by studing the monolith, then you capture horrors and study them to advance.

good. FUCK mech clusters and fuck sieges. 9 of the last 10 raids were sieges or rituals.
mechs especially the turrets are extremely annoying, line of sight with smoke is bugged so if they spot you before you drop smoke they won't lose targeting. once you have artillery it's different but in this weird middle ground i'm in now between unlocking mortars and getting heavy weapons your best bet is to build forward siege fortifications and drop smoke. i've lost track of how many times some stupid bullshit like pathing away from cover killed a pawn that had no right dying.

The dungeon is pitch black (annoying asf), filled with shamblers (without WW2 skins sadly) and clouds traps that resurrect them. The raw ressources are good but the "ancient" weapons are very fragile basic firearms with a skin, and the military clothes are mildly interesting for midgame. The most interesting thing seems the apocalypse setting if you fail the unique/final quest.

Now that a good chunk of mods are updated for 1.6 I guess its time to start building my Odyssey modlist. The best part of only playing two or three times a year is that its easy to abandon most mods once new dlc releases. Its still going to take me fucking forever though and I also have to beat Death Stranding 2 before Odyssey releases. June 11th is too soon.

I wish I was even less reliant on mods than I already am. Vanilla GAWDS, I kneel.

All the dlc starts being frontloaded into your starting tile is fucking annoying but with Odyssey there will actually be good ways of solving it with mods. You just need to turn them all into landmarks so that you have to choose to settle on or travel to a map tile that has what you want. There could be new minibiome landmarks for the trees like an Anima Tree oasis or a Gauranlen Grove or some shit. The mech strider could get thrown into a special Scarlands landmark since that seems fitting. Anomaly Monolith could be located on a Cultist landmark. Preferably these would all be movable so you could take them to your main base if you want.

What vanilla xenotypes do you welcome in your colony. My 1.6 playthrough I crashed with a baseliner, genie, and Neanderthal. It seemed very strong and the two xenos kind of cancel each other out in combat. I've used a filthy imp before but mostly because their traits/passions were too good to pass up. I've only used hussars late game when I need soldiers and other tasks are fulfilled. NEVER piggers
