I've been thinking about this post a lot and it's sort of salient and articulates all the points I've been thinking of regarding Valve and what the downturn was. Their last good game was Episode Two/TF2 in 2007 and nothing's been the same since. I always assumed Abrams' first ability is a ring of fire that burns enemies in front of him slowly. Valve doesn't have a problem with heroes having the same voice actor. JPL (Dynamo's VA) voices multiple Dota characters for example. I just played a couple Kelvin games and I think he has to be the one character you cannot play without a premade team. His damage output is shit, his ability to save himself is shit (compared with someone like Viscous or Dynamo who also aren't relatively great solo queueing). His primary ability in the current build is his beam which is best used in team fights or slowing someone down, which is unreliable as a solo queue. I don't think any other character comes close to being as bad as he is without an actual team.

i started playing earlier this month and have never played a moba before (previously i have only ever been one above all in marvel rivals never playing overwatch before) and i pretty much had to dedicate my life to this game in order to make it out of seeker, but i had insane alchemist and especially ritualist win streaks that for whatever reason did not increase my rank at all
ESPECIALLY ritualist 6, it took me 10 or 20 games in a row just to get emissary 1
i might just be extremely lucky because i am archon 4 with a 6 game win streak right now, but there are days like 2 days ago where i crashed out losing 3 games in a row to actual retard teammates feeding infernus and haze and we lost in like 21 minutes, i only solo queue so shit like that is outside of my control and it is really hard to carry true deadweights
im just under 4 weeks into this game and have made my way into oracle matches, im already starting to have european (russian) cheaters in my lobbies and even though the game is getting played at a higher level and im learning an absolute shit ton, i feel really behind because i dont have the same macro knowledge and experience that moba players have and all i can really do is aim one trick and run away decently, most of my success is just me emulating what i see the top players do in terms of builds

My first instinct is to check the map constantly and Ivy's ult has an extremely recognizable movement speed/pattern. I'm also not braindead so around the time ganks start happening I look at who is in the game and what ults I need to watch out for. If there's a Magician that means considering who he's lanning against. For you to not see him fly, he would have to take off completely out of sight and if he did that your team can't really warn you anyway which is why you need to watch the map and notice when people are missing. If it's 10 min in, people just got their ults and your mid is struggling you should already be expecting a gank on your lane from mid. Are you even watching mid when in a side lane?

For the record guys, I am not against communicating. I just cannot for the life of me, understand how you guys don't watch the map and then manage to blame your teammates for your lack of awareness causing you to die. Movement helps a lot until he has ricochet. An early Warp Stone helps you escape tornados and gives a ton of bullet resistance. Also unless he has godlike aim, Mirage can be a little harder to aim with than most characters so if you're jumping and blinking around you're harder to hit. I wouldn't say it's a counter in that it like shuts him down completely but it's definitely a super good pick up on a lot of characters. In general if you want to kill him you need to try and bait out tornado and hit him with CC when he no longer as it to dodge shit. i never find its any item that helps with this. As always, Curse just shuts down everyone too.

When an item upgrades it's completely replaced. So Greater Expansion upgrades all your stuff's range by 35% and Mystic Expansion by 20%. You can't own both at the same time and if you upgrade to Greater Expansion it will replace your Mystic Expansion. Don't over think it. The upgrades are pure upgrades (with one exception I can think of but it's when you go from a passive, Extra Spirit to an imbue, Power Surge) and there is no downside to buying the imbue's upgrade directly other than you could have bought the component piece and gotten a small power spike earlier. So yes you should buy the cheaper item first but not because there is an upside to imbuing it and then upgrading.

You'll need merculiar magnum and titanic mag, then absolutely swift striker and burst fire for firerate, point blanc, berserker and weighted shots. Spirit one is significantly easier to manage, but I really hated it. Its essentially tank + heal/sustain, which gets rekt by any m1 carry with antiheal. Then I ignore all melee items alltogether, you will have 1-2 slots for counterplay items due to this.
I will be very honest with you: I don't think I'm a good player by any means, even tho I consistently get positive KDA, its still not enough to win games, so don't put too much faith in my advice.

"crackshot maxing" in general is really bad. Even if you headshot max most of your damage will be gun, then gun crit. Even in a full long range gun build with high headshot rate my crackshot damage was often on par with my TNT damage which contested for third. Even with CD reduction it takes around 5 shots of all headshots to replenish. And since your crackshot scales on spirit, if you're doing gun the damage will be kind of pitiful

Lightning Scroll and Infuser first can genuinely be better. infernus melee is insane (40% damage amp + mobility is unreal alongside an ult that gives you a free heavy melee) but you can use spirit items like escalating although there is no need with how overtuned afterburn is alone

wraith is pretty much made to be a spirit gun hybrid as opposed to just full gun, your ult is just a better curse and obviously using curse with ult lets you remove someone from a fight for a fuck ton of time while keeping the insane dps from gun + proc spirit things using cards and your get out of jail free card

gun wraith is not nearly as good as haze/infernus/vyper gun so you are better off playing something like lightning scroll ult spam with curse disarming+silence to completely shit on someone as opposed to playing the typical gun build

Remove or rework Geist, Shiv, Bebop, and Magician make ricochet not bounce off objectives and builds up debuffs at 30% the rate, and revert the urn change that you insta see someone and make it take like 10 seconds instead. Wa la! Game fixed.

There's a lot of people who are putting a shitton of time and effort into this game hoping it's the next DOTA and they can become millionaires from one TI. Frankly I hope it happens, this game caters to me in a way I love and I want to put some money towards prize pools.

headhunter is better than express because you get about the same damage plus speed plus heals minus eating half your mag plus better cooldown because you don't have to stop firing for 4 seconds for it to apply again

Honestly even if you're a mid tier player and even qualify for TI it's a pretty handsome pay. Imagine signing up with your 5 man stack and actually getting to the main event and even if you get your shit rocked first round you still all walk away with 20k each. Sounds alright.
