I feel like it's just harder to convince someone to get hit with a fundies character than with a zoner (people impale themselves on your projectiles) or a grappler where your throw is more powerful. You're either only good at full screen or only good close up, you're not good at a certain distance which you have to maintain or at multiple ranges at different points.
I think your position is the mainstream one and probably for a reason but it was just something I was thinking about. I think in reality new players often tend to gravitate to grabbers or shooters.
