I've suggested maybe Sniffers could help find ancient debri, come to think of it, it's in line with their theme, since they are ancient creatures, maybe they used to war animals in ancient times, and this also implies that eons have passed, maybe millions of years have passed since that time when they were in the nether and the present time. But it's just a game theory.

>>529586480To be fair, as a newbie back when I first played Minecraft, I wished I could have made copper tools with all the copper I was mining. So this update could be for new players and for younglings to discover Minecraft in the years to come.
Remember, Final Fantasy VI came out three decades ago, Final Fantasy Tactics almost three decades ago, and yet these games are still beloved by old-guards/grognards and younglings who found fondness over them too. Minecraft will be as well, and it's only half that time in comparison to the mentioned games.
Culture is beyond time and space. Who knows, maybe in a millenia, when we're all gone as space dust, some kid or a lady or some android would find this piece of artifact called Minecraft and try it out.

>>529591574>they already introduced that command to increase minecarts' max speed which is coolThis shouldn't be just a command but a default feature, not something that you need to turn cheats on.
>>529591919I know, they probably worry that technical players with builds that rely too much on minecarts moving at very particular speeds will start bitching, happens a lot with videogames where the first few years the devs are not afraid of changing a ton of settings all the time, and then later in the game's lifespan they get all coy about tinkering too much and upsetting the playerbase

>>529591574the different modes of transport are just that: different. Elytra can't do what a minecart does. They serve different purposes. minecarts are localized and terrestrial, elytra are arial and long distance. they shouldn't be competing, they aren't all general transport.
Nerfing elytra won't make minecarts more advantageous, it'll just make flying worse. Minecarts could move lightspeed and you'd still need to fly or boat or walk sometimes. They all need to be effective at their niche.
>>529591574>rare postgame loot from structures in the End makes everything else that you can get before that obsoleteTrying to appease people like you has done more damage to this game's development than almost anything else.

>>529616467Agreed, It looks way too bouncy for something that should be extremely heavy. It also just doesn't fit minecraft in general.
>>529616680For the purpose of player movement, what does a minecart do that an elytra does not do better?
>>529617215they can go through and near terrain more easily; you'd never fly an elytra into a typical cave or down into your mine, its infeasible. they move non-players. they move on a predefined course instead of at the player's whims, so they're more structured and precise. by the same merit, they can be automated and such.
>>5295815091. Sniffer 2-5. all the Illagers+Ravager (not counting Witches, those are alright and fit in fine as like outcast Villagers) 6. Allay 7. Panda 8. Strider 9. Cave Spider 10. Bat
If there were no limit, I'd also remove most of the Marketable Plushie mobs and every single Squidward-nosed mob in the game.
>>529580381I like using it as a detail block in my stone brick builds. I get more use out of it than most of the other altstones. I just don't need all that much of it.
>>529617663>you'd never fly an elytra into a typical caveIgnoring that I would (I fly into caves often), I would also use my elytra to fly to the cave to begin with. And there's no reason to construct a rail line in the cave either. I would not use a minecart to get into my mine, I fall down into water in order to get down to my mine. Then I can either fly back up the hole or use ladders. Which take up both significantly less space and cost significantly less resources to create.
I asked specifically for the purpose of player movement because that's what the conversation was about, you went on to talk about non-player movement. This is because you are unintelligent.
Why does moving on a predefined course matter when it comes from getting from point A to B? An elytra allows you to not care about having to work around that limitation of minecarts.
I can afk in a minecart for a while or I can just fly to my location in an instant, you don't realize that this is a point against minecarts.
>>529617215i can tab out while moving to a predetermined location without anything degrading besides my mental over the fact that there are people who seriously, unironically want go gut the single most fun thing to do in the game
>>529618497They should make the player become more hungry and slower the heavier items you're carying, would make minecarts actually useful form mining.
>>529618497I'm picturing the older style of cave, the narrow, dark, curving ones with lots of walls to run into, not the huge new "caves".
also consider any other structure other than caves (like low to the ground, in a confined space, under trees, etc.)
>you went on to talk about non-player movementit was three words wise guy, eat my ass. Also, moving things other than yourself matters, especially if you're talking about ranges where a minecart would ever be practical (ie. established areas where your stuff is.)
>Why does moving on a predefined course matter when it comes from getting from point A to B? because A to B is a predefined course. there's no going off-course with a minecart (without getting off.) there's no crashing, there's no getting lost or turning on accident or drifting, and it doesn't break over time. It simply goes to A to B or wherever you tell it to and strictly nowhere else. they're a systematic way to move, they work as infrastructure; the elytra is much more open, more for exploration and going places that aren't established.
>>529601189it would be extremely painful

FUCK, what did I just get myself into?
It's just the amount of resources and time it takes to set up a minecart track is not worth the hassle. You can't even make trains to haul off your resources into the base for copper golems to sort because furnace minecarts suck. That would be a cool system if it worked
Minecarts will never be good or useful for their intended purpose and I think that's very funny to be the case in the mining video game
So its better that the golem "lost" the mob vote? because it eventually got implemented much better than the original idea, whereas if it won they would just add it and never touch it again.
Guys im starting to think vanilla just isn't it anymore
they need upgrade wolves, they need to be able to survive the wither fight but have turbo shit damage, silverfish tier damage
>>529621023>If the glowsquid lost it would've returned being an actual light source>If the sniffer lost it would've returned finding useful seeds Happy for the copper golem, he fucking WON
>Almost strictly better allay at sorting items
why is bugrock getting updates before java? wtf
>>529620740Why not play creative mode if you care about time? Or play with cheats.
>>529621627Did you not read the latter half? Even at what you're intended to use minecarts for, they just don't work well. There shouldn't be a choice about having fun and having something that works. Minecarts should work properly, didn't you see how much love everyone had for when they fixed boats from being absolutely useless?
>>529621768nether rails work incredibly well you just arent creative enough.
>>529622385This is an issue I think. People don't appreciate what they have and complain about how things should be.
>>529622385>>529622581 cmon people said the same about boats and never looked back after, we all know minecarts need some qol love. at the very least you should be able to attach them together with chains. like how they've been doing that with mobs and leads
that would also solve a headache trying to get it to return after depositing. currently you have to detector rail and route the furnace one back behind the chest after depositing, but then you have issues with it being too fast or running out of fuel. or just have both reset into cactus being a 1 time use unloader which isn't very thematic
>>529622385Nether rails also fucking suck in all applications other than covering very long distances without care for the exit. Trying to do anything more precise with them is a headache.
non-mechanical item sorting not built by player feels heretic to me
>>529620740>You can't even make trains to haul off your resources into the base for copper golems to sort because furnace minecarts suckAlso chunk loading is an issue
Does that mean these guys have a chance of being added?
>>529624575I'm glad they made easy chunk loaders with enderpearl bubble columns now though, having to fire things through nether portals was way beyond the average player

>>529628158nah, he just doesn't understand he can force the other side of the portal to be in a specific place
>>529624480But the copper golem is a mechanical construct, if a bit magic too. Also, I am pretty sure you have to build one yourself, unless I am wrong and you just find them out and about and only have to activate them somehow.
>>529627678They should just make the golem be able to do both. It's pretty much a robot, just give us a way to "hit a switch" on it and have it swap between "hit random copper shit" mode and "item sorter" mode
>>529628792I wish they'd do that man. I was going to build fun contraptions like mazes for the Copper Golems to go through, like a lil lab rat.
Also was gonna play anarchy servers, place a copper golem attached to the TNT meant to blow bases up and let it trigger the explosions while I always away with my back turned and f5 pressed twice for a "Cool guys dont look at explosions" type beat
I can agree, and see why a majority of people want chest sorting, and now love the Copper Golem more than ever, but Mojang this isn't my Copper Golem :(
>>529580381I wish it had polished walls
>>529616467but all the youtube shills love the sniffer and Fresh Animations
>>529591574>it kinda trivializes all other forms of transport and makes them obsoleteSo buff everything else then, instead of nerfing the only good one. Not that you need to, because most of it is actually fine. Minecarts should have a higher top speed, yes, but boats are already great on ice roads, swimming is the fastest way to travel if you have soul speed and dolphin's grace, and horses are faster than elytras on land. Elytras win out by being convenient, not overly fast
is there a way to acquire 10-20 shulker chests for a solo survival world simpler than making a 20x20x20 farm in the sky that outputs 700 shells per hour?
>>529608549>>item sorters, but even slower and more convolutedHow can you call it more convoluted when the smallest item sorter is 1x3x4 (excluding the chest) and requires a decent understanding of redstone?
Agnes is so cute holy shit, Agnes wife when. Oh god i'm so lonely. Also the copper golem seems good, giving it literal item sorting capabilities seems good.
>>529581509Remove all mobs that are just duplicates of other mobs (also phantom)
>>529630431That is the simplest way because exploring the end dimension is aids
best part is you can build that farm above a lake in your spawn and then never have to touch the end again
>>529610618You can probably build stairs to help them reach. Be clever about it and you might be able to have your chests 5-6 blocks high. Then again, they only scan 10 chests before going idle, so you likely don't want too many chests around them
>>529630431>get elytra>make stacks of fireworks>fly around and raid every end city you come across problem solved
>>529630431not really, shulker mechanics can't really be manipulated manually by baiting them. said farms arent too bad to build
not sure how mojang intended people to farm these, it's not like you can bait the shot and cover yourself so it hits another shulker, it just runs into the block

>>529631197>Maybe i'm just losing my mind and i'll start claiming every meme as my ownanonymous is one person
>>529621274The allay isn't about sorting items, but picking them up
>>529621023I see it like this: it lost because the functionality they showcased wasn't good enough, which is why they've since changed that functionality. It's good for bad ideas to be rejected, so they can be replaced with or reworked into good ideas. The glowsquid, meanwhile, was only ever a squid with a glow effect. It was always good enough for what it was, and I use glow ink on 100% of my signs
>>529627678If you connect a chest to a copper chest with hoppers, you can create an infinite loop for your golem. That's easily on the same level. Also, they deposit into trap chests, so there's your pit trap
Will Agnes go on a date with me if I build her a giant protrait in Minecraft?
>>529630431Raiding a single end city will give you like half a stack of shells if you have looting 3. Once you have an elytra you can fly between cities in no time. A shulker farm is only necessary when you need hundreds of shulkers, not dozens
>>529630143That animation pack makes me question whether the average youtuber even has eyes. It looks so bad.
If there was more enchantments you could divide gear into high stats and high enchantment value. Similar to how gold items have better enchants. You could then have parallel items, like copper (more enchants) vs iron (better stats)
>>529632878in my nearest city 1 (one) shulker generated.
To make rails viable literally all they have to do is allow you to chain them together and let them automatically place rails along flat surfaces or single block slopes (like how horses move)
>>529634220I did some testing and it seems the smallest one that can generate has 6 shulkers. Even if that's not true, it must at least have 2 shulkers, since it should always generate the entrance. They either teleported or it was bugged.

>>529670650ah, i love slaves

>using the bloat argument in regards to mobs
Peak retardation and indefinite proof of the fake outrage of "useless" mobs. Bloat has always referred to inventory management, mobs existing has no impact on the player even if they are ultimately useless/serve no purpose. You're allowed to not like mobs and want them removed, but your reasoning is a personal issue and has nothing to do with the game itself. Bloat and item management affects everyone, it's not a personal issue but a flaw in the games progression
The fact is people want more mobs, especially useless ones. If new versions make you mad enough to hate something like a new mob that has no impact on your gameplay then play older versions. Also if you're going to hate mobs at least go after the ones that are actually annoying like guardians, they ruin deep ocean biomes and prevent you from being able to build under water in most places due to how fucking loud and obnoxious they are
It's pretty clear that at this point old worlds needing to work with all future updates is preventing actual big changes to the game but also I think that the fact that you can move worlds made all the way during infdev to modern versions is why this game is appealing
>>529672602>they ruin deep ocean biomes and prevent you from being able to build under water in most places due to how fucking loud and obnoxious they areThey even ruin islands with how loud they are. I wonder what Mojang was thinking.

I also don't really care if a few dirt or stone blocks despawn when I'm clearing out an area, whereas I do care when I'm mining for sand - since that's the whole point of the trip. after i made that post yesterday i had a look around for multi item sorters and came across this which seems neat if anyone has experience with this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsbg2RpGzNs
gonna have to look up some more and try world downloads, wanting something quiet and not sure if minecarts in that one would be an issue either
though it might be a silly time to be looking into item sorted if the copper golem might change them soon. i thought id just attach a copper golem set up to the end of one of the MIS to sort the unstackables
>>529795071Uhm Agnes is mine so.. back off, ok?
>>529795827The copper golem won't make MIS obsolete. It's going to be far slower in most cases and won't be as scalable, though I guess it's more reliable as it can't break from being unloaded. I've seen cart-based designs before, but they always strike me as both slower and more noisy so I've never built one. The one I linked I've built twice in the past - I think it was v3 and v4 - and it's always worked great, so it's kind of what I've stuck with. On my current world I'm manually sorting, though. I'm still in my starter base and don't have space for anything else
>>529795071I know youโre on vacation Jens but thatโs still unprofessional
>>529798165I was curious, and it turns out Jens is actually married, while Agnes has three cats
>>529797845How were the v3 and v4 or whichever ones you built with dispenser sounds? That would drive me crazy hearing that (why'd they update piston sounds but not deduce this or droppers)
I saw at the end of his vids there's a way to 1 tile it by "snaking them" but those are only in the world downloads. The ones shown in the videos are 2 tiles so it wouldnt look very nice for a storage system?
>>529810720The ones I build were 2-wide A/B tilable, and since you still need hoppers between the chests you do end up with a sort of snaking chest layout. Not perfect perhaps, but it never bothered me. If you absolutely need 1-wide modules, you'll need to use a cart-based design. Oh, and there were no dropper sounds in those, since droppers only make noise if they fire when empty and these only fire when moving an item. They were completely silent
If a dispenser receives a signal and there is a block in front of it with an item frame, the item it dispenses should be placed in the frame.
Also, if the dispenser is empty and is activated, it should suck everything out of an item frame.
>>529814394the worst thing is they will probably keep adding useless shit like that instead of something that actually matters like planting seed or feeding animals. who the fuck needs a HORSE ARMOR DISPENSING STATION

>>529839730We're supposed to be getting a vulture at some point.
first we mine, then we craft
Imagine if you didn't have so much trash that you needed a mob to sort it for you
To me, the golem seems awfully inefficient at sorting items, simply due to the amount of time it takes to check all of your chests before finding the right one. In contrast, with a traditional hopper sorter, items are automatically dumped into the correct hopper chute. Sure, you can increase the number of golems, but that causes lag without really solving the problem. Unstackable items will be a massive time sink for them. Not to mention, itโs unclear how this will work when you leave the chunk while items are being sorted. If the golem doesnโt deposit an item quickly enough, its chest-searching pattern might get reset when a player leaves the chunk mid-search.
>>529859062B-BUT IT'S LE CUTE AND INCLUSIVE
>>529859182Correct, I do find it cute, and it definitely has better functionality now than before. Iโm just saying that its sorting capability isnโt well suited for complex and convoluted item-sorting machines, where items need to be sorted quickly. So, I see it more as a pet or toy that moves around and gives you instant dopamine with its le hecking wholesome chest interactions.

you bin those anyway
>combined two pretection iv, unbreaking iii breastplates on anvil
>>529859062Honestly, that's what makes it a good implementation. Hoppers offer better efficiency, but require wiring and end up taking a lot of space. Golems are simple, small and convenient, but will take their sweet time getting the job done. If golems were much better, we'd have another elytra situation where all other methods would instantly become obsolete. And when it comes to the chest-searching, I have to assume they're using a simple array to store the locations of searched chests which gets saved with their NBT data just like the everything else. That shouldn't be able to break
>>529865263Does the warden act differently around other invincible mobs? I mean, having isInvincible() for enemies that can't be hurt period, and isInvincibleTo(Type) for enemies like wither skeletons that are immune to the wither effect, makes a ton of sense. But the creaking can't be damaged by any source, right? So clearly it should be in the former category
>>529890050>we'd have another elytra situationActual good take. Long term players are interested in variety as it helps keep them playing/interested in the game, if you add another method/mechanic that out performs another you're not allowing the player to choose which one they want to use you're telling them which one they should use. Copper golems allow players to have that level of variety, I like my usual sorting system set ups and can pretty much do large scale sorting without guides now but I wouldn't mind switching it up and trying something different if the output is similar
Variety is what helps minecraft be good, when you have something that exists based on progression - like an elytra - you're denying the player options of travel. Sure they can use horses, minecarts or even ice highways, but the elytra is pushed on you by how the game functions. If there was a competitive alternative to the elytra people would be switching back and forth between the two which is better than just abandoning the method that came before it and having your entire play time taken up moving around in the same way for thousands of hours on repeat
>>529880718Huh? Why shouldn't the warden attack the creaking? It makes complete sense.
>>529890795I think a lot of people underestimate being able to retrofit their current storage for the copper golem. Unlike with redstone, where you have to plan ahead to have enough space, adding a golem after the fact should be super easy. It seems like golems will consistently look for the nearest chest they haven't yet searched, so it doesn't matter if you have a hundred chests in your storage, as long as you place the copper chests in the right spot
>>529891684>they haven't yet searchedi think this will be the most aggrevating source of bugs. the golem will pick up a stack, open 10 nearest chests, pause, then repeat opening the same 10 chests, ad nauseam.
>>529891938Just be aware that they're kind of stupid and don't overload their small brains. If you need hundreds of items sorted, either use redstone or make one of those hand-off chests to pass an item on to the next golem with access to the next 10 chests

The first of two large trenches has been completed. Coming up to a size of 1500*15 all the way down to bedrock. The world eater will use these to lower itself.
Mending isn't a problem. It is a bandaid solution to the real problem: high value items take so much time to acquire.
>Elytra is end game
>Doesnt break when durability is 0
>instead goes into a broken item state
>can be repaired, but eventually the anvil cost will be too high
>mending is required if you want to keep an elytra instead of finding multiple elytras
>this problem is worse in multiplayer
>Netherite is extremely tedious to get
>requires hours of mining or blast mining to get some scrap, then the ingots
>has insanely high durability
>is added onto Diamond tools
>repairing requires Netherite ingots
>repair cost gets too high eventually
>mending is sought after to avoid spending hours mining for more netherite or capping out repairs
>tridents (in Java) are extremely hard to come by
>even with a farm you must spend a lot of time
>you can lose tridents if you don't have loyalty or riptide
>has the durability of an iron tool
>repairing will eventually cap out
>mending is required to keep your cool ocean trident or else spend days trying to get another
Basically the anvil cost mechanic is the issue here. The cost can be capped at 30 levels, and it'd be better than having a hard limit. And it's mostly for godly or hard to get items. If you lose your Sharpness 5 Diamond sword, you can replace the sword easily with a little work and more work for the Sharpness 5 book.
If you lose a Sharpness 5 Netherite Sword, you better have some spare Netherite or it's hours of tedious mining for you.

>>529984974You're exaggerating how long it takes to get ancient debris. >>530009391Set as in all your gear? I have 15 items upgraded (Fortune and Silk Touch for all tool, Sharpness and Smite swords, full armor plus extra Frost Walker boots) and something like 10 ingots in storage. Don't think I spent more than 2-3 hours in total
>>530018057That doesn't sound normal.
>>530018583No, most people probably don't have two netherite hoes, I'll give you that. But ancient debris isn't that hard to find. Cubfan made a video trying out different methods in the season where he farmed like 300 of them, and it's about 1 per minute with TNT mining
https://youtu.be/mUX98Bt4_Rg
>>530019067He was doing tests with already industrialized preparations, that's not really representative of normal single player experience, especially if we consider people might not spawn in a huge nether wastes biome or have trouble getting to strip mining levels. What you're talking about is the absolute peak, not the norm.
I hope adding copper tools causes Mojang to buff the durability of iron tools. Anything besides diamond and netherite is basically useless. Iron tools are more practically more expensive than diamond once you account for durability. Armor durability has much better balance.
>>530020437Copper should take current iron's durability and iron should be doubled
>>530020437The entire tool and armour system needs a rework, keep it simple. I don't understand why they went with numbers like 59 for wood or 131 for stone, 191 for copper? It's annoying. Iron should be much higher, around 400 minimum
>>530019450What I'm talking about is the mining efficiency once you're at the optional Y level, yes. But that's the same as mining diamonds; no-one's going to count the time it takes to dig down to diamond level in their averages. And once your mine is established you can return to it whenever you want to. The only meaningful difference is the TNT, but you'll notice that you don't actually need it. Strip mining with a pickaxe is still ~48 debris (or ~12 netherite ingots) per hour
>>530020437>>530020658>Gold: 32>Wood: 64>Stone: 128>Copper: 256>Iron: 512>Emerald: 1024>Diamond: 1536>Netherite: 2046It just makes sense
>>530024051The difference is with diamonds one mine can give you hundreds due to them being less rare while with debris you have to cover large distances and if you had to replace your netherite tools, the distance would be getting longer and longer.
You can also get a bunch of diamonds by simply caving for other purposes while debris requires dedicated mining. Big difference in loot chests too.
>>530024553based and notchpilled
>>530024553>Diamond: 1536
>>530025008It's not power of 2 all the way, as that would mean netherite gets 4096. After emerald it's +512 per tier
>>530024640>the distance would be getting longer and longerHow? I mean, the further you mine the longer your mine becomes, naturally, but that's the same with all materials. Even stone. You're right about ancient debris needing a dedicated mine, but it's also an optional end-game resource. It's still not as laborious as some make it out to be, since you can be fully upgraded (assuming an average of 3 armor pieces and 4 tools) in about an hour - and that including flying from your portal to the nearest netherwaste and digging down to Y 15
>>530025638>but that's the same with all materialsThat's the point, not really. Only with debris. Other materials generate often enough that you'll never have to cover large distances while with debris it becomes an issue very quickly comparatively.
In theory what you said is correct but in practice it is not. Going "further" for diamonds is still a reasonable distance that could be considered part of one mine, only taking ashort time to reach new terrain to dig into. Doing same for debris would result in situations where you have to spend a lot of time to reach areas which weren't mined yet.
>>530024553But it's very easy to get emeralds in early game from villagers.
>>530028278If you're trading early game, why settle for emeralds when you can trade your way to diamond gear?
>>530027879My man, the numbers in my post were averages. They include the time you spend mining without getting anything. Just because you need to cover a larger distance doesn't mean anything if you still get the same number of resources per hour *on average*. At most you'll have to spend another minute or two flying back to your starting point because you've travelled farther, but that hardly counts. It's still roughly 15 netherite ingots per hour
>>530029963>Just because you need to cover a larger distance doesn't mean anything if you still get the same number of resources per hour *on average*.Retarded. The more you have to walk, the lower the average will be.
>flyyou ain't flying in debris mining tunnels
>>530030295But the average is already set. We're not calculating it at we speak. It's ~1 ancient debris per minute *including the travel time*. None of your augments will change a measured reality
>you ain't flying in debris mining tunnelsI do, since I use TNT to mine and netherrack has a low blast resistance, creating large caverns
>>530030857Retarded. The more you have to walk, the lower the average will be. That's literally the point. The more time you spend not mining but traveling, the lower the average of debris/per time will be.
>I use TNTSo fuck off from the conversation. You were arguing that it doesn't take that much time to mine debris while admitting it requires farming extra shulker boxes of sand and gunpowder.
Yeah, if you remove all the tedious time consuming parts of the process, it won't seem to take as much time. What a stupid thing to argue about.
>>529956431>not using a donkey so you can also put a chest on it for further storage
>>530039132I want everything out of copper. I've been busy disassembling a trial chamber to fully coppermaxx as soon as the update comes.
A simple solution to rails would be a slow minecart that is 100% consistent for redstone and a mega fast one for travel
>>530041064this would be good but that would be too useful so they can't do it. They'd solve the transportation issue by making golems be able to be charged with glowstone and when you right click them, they'll pick you up and toss you thousands of blocks in a random direction.
>>530031168You need to go back to school if you don't know how averages work. Obviously the time spent walking affects will affect the outcome, but that's *already part of the calculation*. The numbers I posted (that you can verify in the video I linked to) is from a real-world test, not some guy mining ancient debris in creative flat world
And it doesn't take much time, no matter how angry you are. TNT gives you ~1 debris per minute, while strip mining gives you ~0.8. A mere 20% difference with zero preparations. You'd still be fully upgraded within an hour of starting, even if you step into the nether with nothing but an elytra and an efficiency 4 diamond pickaxe. If your nether spawn is particularly unlucky, and you have to travel far for a good location, maybe it would take you two hours in total
>>530041192That could actually be useful, you could build a one block wide hallway and have one side open and the copper golem on the other side, so it can only throw you in the direction you want. It's like a simple and cheap wind charge cannon. Also, wouldn't copper golems be charged with blaze powder? Since copper bulbs are powered by blaze rods, and their eyes are like copper bulbs.
>>530042831>Obviously the time spent walking affects will affect the outcome, but that's *already part of the calculation*.If it was a part of caluclation then you would have had to agree that the average will keep going down the more you mine. Choose one. Or, as you said, go back to school and learn how averages work.
Early on it will be somewhat high but the more debris you mine, the further you'll have to travel to get more, and the lower the average outcome will be.
Reminder that the conversation started with statement that mending is necessary to cover for problem of tools being way too time consuming to obtain repeatedly as they would break down without it. Which you seem to have forgotten.
>>530046091Are you talking about the extra time it takes to fly from the entrance of your mine to where you were last mining? All those thousands of milliseconds? Is that is? Yes, you'd be wasting literal seconds of your life there - maybe as much as 4 seconds for every 1 second you'd waste in a diamond mine. But the actual mining - the part the constitutes 95-99% of your mining session - will be the same

There's a reason Sethbling had to port his physics engine into a mod.
Also, datapacks are not even close to the same level of access as an API.
>>530052520It's still the best we'll get, unless Mojang suddenly does a 180 out of nowhere. It's also not meant to do physics engines or real-time mesh rendering - just like pregnancy tests were never meant to run Doom. Someone just decided to make it happen anyway. I seem to remember Mojang saying that they'll never be able to make an API as good as Forge or Fabric, since those are already established and have hundreds of people contributing to them, but I don't have a source for that

>>530024553Netherite should be non-breaking since it's barely better than Diamond in terms of speed and ore level. That way the only way to lose it is to drop it and let it despawn.
>>530063624>That's pretty cool. Any examples you can share?I'm not going to link the discord directly, but it is not hard to find and public invites are easy to locate. It's one of the most popular Minecraft related discords outside of the "official"(?) Minecraft discord itself.
Boq, Dinnerbone, and Slicedlime have posted in there numerous times before. Most recently, Boq went on a genuine autistic rant about the newly-implemented custom menus and how datapack creators are annoyed that you cannot pass data through the clickable buttons in the menus (instead, you have to use the clunky /trigger command, which can only pass an int); his TL;DR excuse basically boiled down to "muh security", and refused any alternative solutions that the community suggested. On the surface, most of what he was saying made sense, but it turned into a debate afterwards and his stance made less sense at it went on (some of the more technical members of the community still disagree with Boq's hard stance on the matter today). It was honestly pretty odd, even for Boq to say (he posts in this discord frequently, like every time a snapshot rolls around at this rate). Having said all that, I think there is a genuine interest at the mojang java team to improve (or possibly overhaul?) datapacks eventually.
Oh, Boq is a software engineer dev at the mojang java team, just in case you didn't know. I don't think I need to explain who Dinnerbone and Slicedlime are. Funnily enough Dinnerbone was talking in this discord a few months ago about shaders (for java), which in hindsight makes me wonder if Vibrant Visuals was planned for Java as well.
Despite the faggotry and trannery of Minecraft modding, I don't know if Mojang can make a good mod API. I feel it would be like MCCreator.
I have no experience with the bedrock stuff so if it's decent then maybe I'm wrong.
>>530065740>Funnily enough Dinnerbone was talking in this discord a few months ago about shaders (for java)They've been working on java shader stuff for a while now, they mess with them every update, to the dismay of vanilla shader creators.
>>530076702Yeah I know, but he was rewriting the shader implementation entirely. I'm not into the shader stuff though so I didn't read everything he talked about. AFAIK they ended up post-poning the new shader implementation.
Why the fuck does modern Minecraft run so poorly?
>>530084290they've never been good at optimization since notch left, thanks to allowing mods they just do whatever the fuck they want and let modders fix the game for them for free
why put in any effort to make your game playable if someone else will do it for you?
with bedrock they literally have to try because no mods which is funny because they still can't optimize a game they coded themselves so it's littered with bugs and glitches that have existed since its inception
>>530084880Optimization isn't the same as debugging. They just suck at both
>>530065740Interesting. I've always wondered about game devs who can't seem to let their game speak for them, but have to go on rants for one reason or another, or feel obliged to explain/excuse their work. It'd be fascinating to be a fly on the wall of the Mojang office for a week
They're actively working on improving datapacks with almost every update. It's actually kind of crazy how much stuff they've added, and how they're making more and more features data driven so they an be altered or accessed through datapacks. Like how you can make items stack to 100, or make them edible, or have any entity ride any mob, etc. Almost any behavior that vanilla items and mobs have can be given to any other item or mob
>>530085837The impression I get (which is all but confirmed from what I've seen the devs say in the past), is that datapack development is a very very low priority and Microsoft doesn't care about it whatsoever. In spite of this, a few members of the team are clearly interested in improving the Java vanilla creation tools (i.e. Datapacks) as much as they can, but it ends up as a last-minute thing every time since it's never a priority for an update's features. However, I think the push for data-driven structure benefits the maintenance of their own code more than it benefits datapacks, being able to expose some data-driven resources to datapack makers is just a bonus of them restructuring systems this way.
Possibly related: Boq has been making a lot of jokes this year about NBT (or access of NBT data through commands) becoming obsolete in the near future. Hard to tell whether he's just fucking with the community or if there's a major change coming to provide proper runtime block/entity data access for datapack makers in the near future. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just ignore me - I find datapacks and vanilla "modding" interesting, never see /mcg/ really talk about this stuff.
>>530084290I've checked out some 2009 versions recently and i'm pretty sure that none of the code changed, the block outlines the particle behavior etc are the same 15 years after
>>530086759I actually mod the game myself, and NBT data seems to have become less of a thing in the code with every update. Enchanting has completely changed from how it was only a few updates ago and it took me a while to figure out what the fuck was going on there, being used to the old setup. It would probably be a lot easier with actual documentation, but as far as I know there's none available and I'm not a fan of going on Discord and trying to catch some random to explain it to me, but that's beside the point. It's interesting to see how they're changing things little by little, even if it constantly breaks compatibility. NBT was Notch's "clever" way of storing data, but I'm not sure it was ever a better solution to a more standardized approach. I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone completely in a couple of years
>>530017508Datapacks suck. The "mod api" is Forge/Fabric/Bukkit/whatever else and have been a thing since 2010.

[s4s] of all boards is closest to what /jp/ was.
>>530245104There were a few different iterations, each with a custom map, running for a limited time. Originally I think it was based on some map someone drew visualizing 4chan as various islands unrelated to Minecraft, then the various different iterations had different maps based on the original. There were some funny choices with some of them, like making /a/ shaped like Japan and then /jp/ was a smaller version of Japan nearby.

>>530545171I think it's enough if all they'd do is replace the need for long hopper chains, especially if that meant you could run them above or below other pipes without worry about items being pulled out. >>530738826I just tested this in 1.21.7. Cows still walk into and swim up waterfalls. Also, while testing this, I got a seed that looks a lot like your image at spawn.
Hey guys, do you know any long running vanilla lets plays on YT? Please tell them to me, especially if they have frequent uploads.
>>530755675https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaAVDbMg_XArcet5lwcRo12Fh9JrGKydh
>>530760563Etho doesn't really upload the LP anymore. I think cutting up the nexus mountain ruined it. It looks bad and he stopped regular uploads then.
>>530738406I was playing Minecraft and there was a cow in a waterfall and i thought it would be cool to post it here and make something up about nu-trooncraft world generation or something
>>530739240Because world gen was better then and things just spawned like that or something...it was a half joke.
When Minecraft was new, my friend showed me a room he dug out behind a waterfall. In retrospect it was a really low effort build.
>>530770225He gets imagination points though. You realise the NPC will build a dirt house the first time playing not due to any lack of skill or knowledge of the game but due to lack of ability to improvise and think outside the box. If you build a house around features of a landscape it shows you understand how to mine, craft and build. You are at the least attempting to play the game rather than just trying to "get through it" like a barbarian plays video games
>>530760563>>530763237I've already been watching some of Etho's Let's Play series, but he doesn't upload it often at all. It's still good, though.
I appreciate that you guys responded, thanks.
>>530770892how to redeem imagination points?
>creating fresh minecraft content is so hard nowada-
>>530773859Its easier than ever
>Ai generated content>Edgy meme stuff>Endless nostalgiafor me it's stampyzaza
Is suspicious stew made from poppies opium?
Is there an optimal height to place a sky iron farm?
>Bedrock
>Place scaffoldings and dirt until reach level 150
>Place some blocks to start a base
>Ride in happy ghast up and down to build everything.
>Transport couple villagers with a boat, drop food.
>Place in the floor dripstone, hoppers and chests.
If everything works as intended, the golem should spawn, get pushed and fall from 153-154 to the dripstones at 48. Should take 200 damage upon hitting the dripstones, causing instant death.
Would work or what I'm missing here?
Did Mojang adding all the new shit to the Nether make Fortresses harder to come by or am I just unlucky?
>>530781216I thought so until i found one pretty close.
BUT the biomes are fucked. I had to travel on a boat on the overworld to make a new portal so i would get out of the FUCKING DOGSHIT AWFUL CANCER BIOME that is the basalt deltas
>everyone is hyped about golem item sorting sidegrade
>i'm glad it will allow simple long range item transportation, without a hopper line or waterway
>>530785913>everyone is hyped[citation needed]
I just want a big castle populated with villagers and for each room to house a different job. I have such ambition.
>>530785913I can't wait to have my golem transport a block of dirt up a set of stairs only to have the block hopped back into his copper chest for all eternity
>>530787027gee gerg, people already made videos about that, you will need to think of another gag. or maybe just throw some china on the ground and call it a day.
>>530787927because i "discovered" him while looking for some redstone videos, gave him a benefit of doubt, and it turned out every minute i spent watching his stuff was a waste of time.
Is this working? Loosely inspired by Culross Palace
>>530778382I don't know how Bedrock works, but you can always try the concept in creative
>>530787027One must imagine Sisyphus happy
>>530790102I don't like the brick texture. Also maybe make the glass panels two blocks tall and put some trapdoors on the top one, the kind you can see through?
>>530790102I think the sand is too bright you're kind of limited on yellow i think
>>530790803nta, what sand
>>530790102It's... interesting. The shape is appealing. Both your build and the original are rather ugly. It might work out in a very controlled environment like a stylized painting, everything with the roughness of the concrete powder. Desert or jungle grass might give the yellow a home.
>>530790102You need some detailing. Not block vomit, but something. It's too one-note currently, though I like the color
>>530792871i really do hate how ancient debris looks tasty, it looks like some kind of swirly meat. on that note i hate how mangrove logs look like meat as well especially when you can see the red inner part of the log
minecraft makes me so damn hungry
I gave it a shot but you're limited on yellow. I dunno what you'd do if you were more serious, completely change the palette maybe
>>530794487Maybe just add corners of something else, like say quartz? Would work with the pale wood doors you're using
>>530801462apparently there has been a bug for some time that practically removes them from the game? I wasn't able to spawn one with spawn eggs I had dozens of normal ones fall into a lava pit before giving up and looking it up
>>530801656Apparently you can't get them from breeding, but have to find them naturally in the world. I had no idea about this, but I now realize I haven't seen one in the wild for years
