i wish elden ring had more arenas with staircases i could lead enemies up in order to buy time by jumping off the side. ever since i beat capra demon i'm literally constantly on the look out for opportunities to do something like this in any game i play. it works pretty well, for instance, in the castle morne courtyard for slowing down the pack of angry dogs. you can climb the little staircase immediately to the left of the entrance and then fall off the short landing platform, the dogs have to do a little falling animation to chase you off their, or else they walk down the stairs, buying some time either way

Gaols should just be much harder. Don't scale them down on day 1. You're opting into a challenge by opening one, it shouldn't be so free. Make them like red field bosses, suicidal to attempt day 1. You can still get the gaol buff rolling if you plan for it day 2, but it wont dominate your entire expedition.

gyroaim feels pretty good. mkb would be better obviously but after 1 minute of testing i can get some easy headshots. also would help with manual spellcasting.

first, i had the "teleport to the nightlords door" all day even if i'm there. i'd go there, then get teleported, and then the opening door video starts playing.

now i've had the opposite + a bugged teammate.
we opened the door normally, then we were in heolstor's arena, then i got a long loading screen, then i got teleported to the door, then i got a second long loading screen, and then i got in to raider sitting down waiting while heolstor walks, and recluse was "loaded in" but absent.
her name was up, and the nightlord had the health for 3 people even though there were only 2 of us.
we got 40% of his hp but got downed.
except it wasn't a game over, because recluse name was still in there.
heolstor started attacking the name. me and raider had the time to crawl all the way across the desert to there.
suddenly recluse's name disappears, and raider is somehow up again.
he gets me back up, and in 30 seconds we double the damage we did before. i guess heolstor's health was scaled back to 2 now.
but we're both out of flasks and we die.

To be fair there is no way to do one of those funny builds until NG+. Accursed Brew itself is an easily missable endgame DLC item and if you miss it you need to play the entire game again.

I think "multiple builds" is kind of a grift though. Maybe it's just me but anything that isn't "big swingy weapon plus throw fireball/rock" or "ER Legendary Katanas" usually feels like shit in the "kitchen sink" Fromsoft games. Nightreign is the first time different builds actually feel fun to me. For one thing, unlimited bow ammo is just something that should have been done years ago.
