Excuse me how am I supposed to play against Meta decks when over half my deck has to be handtraps to even contest their plays.. and then I have no space left for real cards?
Something like x3 ash x3 imperm is mandatory, you're likely also adding x3 veiler, and then there's the other ghost sisters which depending way you're weak against you also want x3 of, and finally you add your Nibiru (x?) and then your own flavor of techs like Dimensional Barrier, Bystials or Ultimate Slayer.
I guess Mulcharmy lets you draw more which is almost necessary assuming I'm correct so you actually have a playable hand, but Mulcharmies are the most expensive cards rn so they don't count.

Also I've suggested, just like droll is used now because Ash just isn't enough, we need a Droll for summons - after the fifth summon, your opponent cannot summon any more. Alternatively say that you must activate it after the 4th summon and they can only summon 1 more time, so they can at least prepare with one last move.
Just print this card as common.

I just realized again how to fix the game.
Konami must bring back the fear of powerful trap and spell cards that could end you at any moment if you overextend, that's why the anime characters (and irl players before 2017) didn't just play infinitely ; there was always the risk of a mirror force, sakuretsu, magic cylinder, raigeki, gorz or whatever. And recovering from that was nigh impossible, you probably lost if you summoned everything and got wiped.
Characters and people COULD do some extra plays most likely but they were in the back and forth just saving their best resources for later.
That kind of philosophy needs to be brought back to stop Solitaire Yugioh. One guy maybe can play nonstop for 20 minutes but he shouldn't choose to do that, he should be fearful of overextending, and current traps / handtraps aren't enough.
Think of the most busted possible traps and it's likely the best for the game, spells too, non-archetype S/Ts should surpass monsters once again.
Different Dimension Mirror Force : If your opponent declares an attack, banish face-down all of his attack position monsters.
That kind of thing. Or "Necro Raigeki : Destroy all of your opponent's monsters on the field. If they're sent to the graveyard, they cannot be special summoned, be banished or activate their effects for the rest of the duel." (maybe add some clause like, as long as this card is on the GY or whatever).
Maybe a handtrap trap hole that just banishes face down the enemy monster if it comes from the Extra Deck.
I think what I'm saying is, make cards that bypass floatability and you'll be fixing Meta decks' powerlevels. Get rid of their capabilities to recycle themselves and have them play safe summoning less each turn because they might need those resources later.

The ACTUAL fix to the game is to remove OTK potential by either
>A) Increasing starting LP out of the limit of a typical board>B) Introducing a damage cap to the game to prevent OTKs (and FTKs) from existing at all>C) Forcing a reset of the card pool and ensuring OTKs aren't also tied to powerful endboard pieces
How to fix the game: a hard cap on the amount of special summons you can do, which resets during your standby phase.
Alternatively, a hard cap on the amount of monster effects you can activate, also reseting on your standby phase.
I think 10 for either of them are pretty generous numbers.

Easier way to fix the game: Put Rush Duel's draw phase where you draw until you have 5 cards in hand, but only after the third turn so games can bounce back and forth as if players start new whole games.
Ramp up Life Points to 40000 so if you want to oneshot players, you better earn it through hard hitting shit (40k because it's 1 zero higher than the anime's 4000).
Extra deck is 20 cards long without any added restrictions,
Side deck is 30 cards long and the player going second game 1 can uset the side deck while the player going first gets a draw on DP just like pre-arcV era.
Missing the timing stops existing for floaty stuff like Gustos, stuff like TD Titan and House Dragonmaid get an erratum to explain they only pop shit if nothing is chained to the card prior.
Make rulings/SEGOC mechanics are consistent across all regions using OCG as a basis (therefore public rulings available for all to see) so judges can be justified to act as janitors while players can look up rulings with their phones to settle disputes.
Speaking of paper play, legalize using dice for stuff like old apolloursa's negates or spell counters or swords or revealing light turns, among other accessories to keep track of shit like that lunatic who brought a fucking Guess who playboard to mark Ritual Beast effects.
Then just remove randomness from opening packs so 1 box of any set (DBP, Core set, reprint pack or duelist set) is guaranteed to have 3 of everything, only rarities stay random (highest rarity prints do not get censored so poorfags get labrynth covered with her jersey from the concept art while richwhales get labrynth wearing almost nothing) so shit's cheap and available for anyone. Also sanrio crossovers get official altarts (give me Kuromibel)
And make anime decks the meta, it's time to do away with game original stuff.

Just an hour ago I was explaining to a coworker (who used to okay ygo over a decade ago) how half my deck was other monsters that aren't blue eyes, because you need to keep up negating different effects the enemy does.
Then I showed him a casual red eyes deck I use to play for fun with a newbie, and how that one can be played purely in-archetype and it's just much better when you can stick to the monsters you're actually paying to see and play with.

In turn X you can only:
- Activate X amount of Spells
- Set X amount of Spell/Trap cards
- Special summon X amount of monsters
First turns will play like the original manga, slow and control-ish. With each passing turn the game changes into modern yugioh. Its not perfect but it if you think about it tackles many of the problems people have with the current game without fundamentally changing the identity of the game.

And there's almost nothing else like GX. It's the anime that deserves the reputation Madoka or Evangelion got, those were frankly dark enough from the beginning so it's not much of a plot twist when they go mental and start torturing characters but GX had been 100 episodes of happy wacky adventures and the shining hero Judai saving the day when things got tough, his cards are literal heroes. Then the writers go full bazinga with Dark World / Darkness arcs and I don't think I've seen a series mature like that anywhere else, the gap from start to finish is too big.
Even then I love the first half of GX and I only find Zatch Bell, Law of Ueki and Shaman King to be kind of similar. Maybe some sports anime. Such a colorful happy shonen

I say use emulators and go play Yugioh World Championship 2008 for a while, then maybe dabble in Tag Force 3 for a bit (it's more of that same era), and finally play Yugioh World Championship 2011 often regarded as the best game and the point the game became somewhat faster with a new summoning method.
After playing 2011 enough I say you'll have the bases to come here and understand the modern game. It's not necessarily better than the old one, just way more savage and faster (trap cards are rarely used)
You need 1 or 2 months of preparation I'd say

I'll say your point might be real but it's kind of out there to voice it, I dunno. They might not have been trying to be Thought Leaders of the New World, but did put lots of passion into their craft.. And nearly every media we know was inspired by other media.
The only anime that comes to mind which wasn't, was Ashita no Joe in the freaking 70s and that's the pioneer of shonen. It was distinctly inspired by the author's experiences in the depressive slums of post-ww2 Japan, they obviously didn't have much to watch back then (the anime director however did get inspiration from movies).
After that, I think any popular shonen was inspired by something. Dragon ball by Journey to the west and martial arts movies, Hokuto no Ken so obviously by Bruce Lee movies, Saint Seiya by Hokuto no Ken itself and... Greek lore? I dunno it's a weird point to hang on to. Maybe only seinen is really trying to go beyond the limits but for a shonen DB and YGO were trying hard enough, Akira gave it his all in fight choreography and Takashi cooking up multiple games for his manga chapters because that's what he was passionate about until Duel Monsters became a real thing, he was pretty much irl Yugi. And his art was definitely top notch, both of them constantly did amazing illustrations showing off, I think they wanted their art to be legendary (and succeeded)

Personally I like how almost any synchro deck released in last 5 years or so is better at summoning Blazar than Yusei.deck.
Or even Stardust Dragon for that matter.
Yusei.deck literally has no 1 card starters.
Yusei SD will streamline the combo and make you Synchro on the opponents turn. It will be Centurion 2.0.
I wholeheartedly hope that they don't do Yusei dirty. I'm not even a particularly big Yusei fan but I just want all of the protag decks to be at least rogue.
