I totally understand, though. But the original destination could be blocked by anomalies, stalkers, mutants, or just plainly the level design itself. So, what do we do about that?
It is my suggestion that if you're into modding, perhaps look into the level editor. Or, if you don't like levels, try adding in some cars. If you're on a version that may already have cars, why not just use those?
There's plenty of older car mods you could just "Dezowave" (aptly named for the use of other mods without permission, henceforth known as alfa modding).
And if you want to throw in a Lada or a Kamaz, or a UAZ even, go right ahead! Whatever gets us to our "ORIGINAL DESTINATION", am i right, fellow stalker?

And then, suddenly, Alundaio updated Call of Chernobyl to 1.5, thus rendering a lot of addons and mods useless. A few did come back and update themselves, but by the time 1.5. Came out, Misery, Call of Misery, Anomaly, etc, were making their debut, and Call of CHORNOBYL was Lost to the Zone.
However, just recently Alundaio released 1.6. In the Call of Chernobyl discord, if you're interested. Anyway, since you want to talk about game engines, there's a quite a handful of X-Ray engine variations!
One big question remains, my fellow compatriot S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: In Arms:
If we are considering OLR (Oblivion Lost Remake) Remake (why are you saying Oblivion Lost Remake2?) the Eastern Zone, how is there an eastern zone? If OLR Remake is Eastern, what is considered West? Another Modpack? What about the story mods that come in with actual new maps, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The Journey, where the player has to find Yulian?
Surely those new maps could be incorporated in some fashion, just like the Meadow!

self repairing and crafting from inventory is bad because firstly it breaks the logic of exploration.
if a player wears out his equipment, he must be forced to return to the base and give it to the mechanic.
if player can repair equipment right during the journey, he will not be able to receive a punishment for broken equipment in the form of increased damage from enemies and the game will be more boring and predictable
secondly it is ideologically bad because there should be a division of labor and everyone should do their job.
only mechanics who devote all their free time to repairing should repair equipment
stalker should only stalking
if you want more loneline gameplay, the only compromise is crafting and repairing only near a craft table that cannot be simply moved from inventory. as a result, you are not tied to stalkers, but you still need to return to your shelter to repair equipment

I feel the zone, both in the original trilogy and in stalker 2, is too tame when compared to the zone in roadside picnic. While reading the book I've imagined the zone as one endless near invisible maze of extremely dangerous and deadly anomalies at every corner where you need to crawl on your ass for days in order to get across a small grass field because you don't know if that blade of grass a feet away from you is a normal blade of grass or a anomalous that will liquify your kidneys if come near it.
In stalker you just have these small areas of highly anomalous activities and vast open areas of nothing happens and are completely safe, you can just jog for miles without having to crawl or feel the claustrophobic dread of being stuck in one little corner not knowing if you will die if you move the wrong way.
Is there any mod that further adds anomalies and makes the zone a near uninhabitable hostile place where you need to chug bolts around like a paranoid crack head in order to move forward?

I've mentioned it before in these threads but, my ideal zone would be a Death Stranding-esque game where the focus was on traversal and interaction with the zone itself, to have something akin to modern gta/rdr with the stranger interactions, have hundreds of these scripted events all over the map but randomise which ones are turned on in any given playthrough, it could range from anything to simple spawning of mutants, interactions with characters/mini quests or just weird zone shit that cant be explained e.g unique anomalies aka the oasis from cop, visions or voices playing, they have sort of done this for stalker 2 to an extent but it's not enough and its only at very obvious "poi" locations which kills any sense of mystique because you know when you go to x location something is going to happen.

Having maps separated by loading screens help sell the idea that you're taking a long, boring detour to avoid the no-go zones without actually having to spend resources designing them. The interconnected zone kinda ruins that little fantasy but people have been begging for a giant zone for years so I'm not surprised they caved in.

There have only been like 3 "gian" emissions so it's kinda crazy that there would be so many of these quest lines.
My head canon is that blowouts happen far, far less frequently than they do in-game and that they all have the ability to shift anomalies around, even into so-called safe zones, but this isn't represented in the games because having Rostok suddenly become invaded by anomalies would be bad for the gameplay progression. Lore wise though I do believe anomaly spawns are like lightning strikes and everyone is just praying that they don't get struck.

Been playing through OP 2.2 and enjoying it, but I've hit a snag with what seems to be a broken quest, where I have to collect soap for a dude called Fima the Charcoal
I accepted that quest a long time ago, it wants you to throw these impulse grenades onto a crane to knock down five bars of soap
Well I'm trying to do it now and there's no task update when I collect the soap, I can knock it down just fine, six bars but you only need five, but the task doesn't update when I collect them and there's no dialogue with Fima to turn them in
Apparently this quest blocks a whole bunch of shit too
Been looking through the files for anything I could modify, but this XML stuff and how the game handles its quests is alien to me
Is there a way to force a task to complete or modify the quest so it wants first aid kits or something instead of this soap
I even reloaded (some 80 hours ago) to when I picked up the quest, ran straight there and got the soap down immediately and it still didn't update the task tracker
Any advice what I can do? Already have like 500 hours into this mod, I'd rather not restart if there's a way to brute force past it or something

When I checked the encyclopedia for "soap" there were two versions of soap, "fima_soap" and "fima_soap_quest" and then looking at the scripts, it was spawning and looking for "fima_soap" so I changed that to "fima_soap_quest" and when I rebooted the game, the quest task completed
I'm not going to question it, just grateful the quest actually updated itself
Guess that's the fix for any random anons that show up in the future, not that any of them will be able to read this

Name pros and cons of Stalker 2
Pro:
-Good exploration for most of the time rewarding you with stuff you actually need (blueprints, silencers etc. especially early game its worth a lot
-The ruins of factories and catacombs are very nice
-side quests are a step up from the original (not a high bar though)
-good foundation for modding
-SFX is well done
-Arch-Anomalies are great setpieces, new minor anomalies elevate the game.
Cons:

it has everything you would expect, like 200+ new items added to the game, loads of medicine with different effects, extra equipment like backpacks, repair tools and just junk for example. freeplay is included but optional i think, but it works almost like CoC except there is no in-game menu for choosing your faction and initial loadout etc. all of it has to be done outside of the game by dragging in specific files from the mod.
crafting has been added, but because it was made before the ue5 modkit was available, the user interface is severely undercooked. basically when you interact with a work bench, it simply opens up an empty 'stash' window, and in that window you chuck in the item recipe, and the ingredients, and after a few seconds the items will disappear and your crafted product will appear. same goes for cooking, you can cook at campfires and even burn your mutant meat if you leave it in the fire for too long. disassembly of junk items is also a thing, and you just have to put the junk in the workbench window along with a tool like swiss army knife. field repair kits are just consumables that repair whatever weapon or armor you have equipped.
as i mentioned before there are backpacks, and again because the UI is undercooked, when you equip a backpack it simply disappears into an invisible slot. but as expected it increases carry capacity, plus there are new mini pouches that you can attach to your belt for added carry weight. you can also attach mutant hides and armor plates to the belt for extra effects.

There's already an ultra+ mod that improves the reflections/shadows/lighting significantly (still nowhere near the trailer's fidelity) and those simple tweaks already rape the game's performance. I'm sure you can do better though. Keep me posted, I'd love to play the game that was shown in the demo with good frames.
