One of my schizo theories is that monsters being able to use magic within the Dark World but not the Light World will become a plot point. The game doesn't really elaborate on why monsters and darkners have magical abilities in the Dark World, while humans assumingly do not.
This seems like a "who cares" plot point but the monsters in Undertale were all able to use magic. And every lightner monster (Susie, Berdley, and Noelle) had some sort of magic at their disposal down in the Dark World.

I like to imagine that the knight is like if Dess was running on base instinct, almost animalistic. I like how she turns her head like a dog when Kris coughs to tell her to end the fight already in chapter 3. So I'm drawing her to be so.

God the cheshire cat symbolism with FRIEND is so painfully obvious and the fact people don't see it is ridiculous. Chapter 1 was clearly meant to be an analogue to Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat followed us out of it. The smile, eye colors, and laugh are almost identical. Clearly some kind of trickster and can/will harm Kris. The place of contact for the vessel creation takes place "outside" of the game (see the twitter interaction and installer for the survey program), so "FRIEND" also exists a layer above the game world, and also appears within the light world since Noelle apparently saw it.

Part of why I love undertale's soundtrack is the way it drags me back to those feelings, and I can't imagine being able to reflect on that in Undertale without the full experience, so I don't want to say so for Deltarune.

Interesting issue with the "Sans is from Deltarune" theory: In Undertale, Papyrus has never seen a human before and doesn't recognize the sun.

what i do think is 100% true and unquestionable is that everything in deltarune that isn't a boss theme is head and shoulders above any undertale equivalents. core and waterfall are really the only areas even in the conversation with stuff like fields of hopes and dreams and the sanctuaries, and even then thats being very generous. it's not even a question that rude buster and from now on are a million times better than any of the ut generic battle themes
so i think it really comes down to how highly you value the boss themes. and even the ones I like more don't really make up for the insane gulf in quality of the rest of the soundtrack, and are closer to a "preference" than thinking they're better. for me thats mostly just battle against a true hero, lol

Most players just play the game once, usually without caring about pacifism or secrets, then go play something else.
As a thought experiment, what types of theories do you think Undertale would have if it released in chapters.
The hypothetical theory that Asgore is the king would probably be treated with a similar level of "it's the obvious choice" reasoning for why you shouldn't believe it. People would create complex fanon backstories, designs, and personalities for this mysterious villain, and this benevolent king, then work themselves into being disappointed in literally anything else.

When we get to the proper town, we start hearing about their beloved king. Papyrus even specifically calls him a big fuzzy pushover before naming him as Mr. Dreemurr.
In Waterfall, we learn more about the history between humans and monsters. Why monsters are hunting down humans, and why they may be justified in doing so. Gerson also talks about the king fondly, but never directly names him
Finally, Undyne dramatically reveals that the King's full name is Asgore Dreemurr. Watch that scene again, it's laid out just like an archetypical plot twist moment.
All this was set to make you really examine everyone's motivations, and hopefully gain a lot of sympathy for the monsters and their plight.
