So when do you get to do anything to it? It's constantly moving, spamming electric tackles and novas, and no amount of slinger ammo seems to do anything to him. Other players will miss the environmental traps and then we're stuck just kind of dodging his shit until he does the nova. We all survived it, I just swam to the edge and dodged to take no damage while everyone was nearly one-shot, but then we just continued the fight.
Is there some easy trick I just don't understand?

Breaking Lagiacrus's dorsal spines can reduce the amount of electricity it can store. This is especially crippling against Abyssal Lagiacrus, who doesn't need to store electricity at all before releasing them.
I wanted to do a big comeback for TU2, and I have gone back to lumu and did some steve and lagi hunts. But the game just isn't hitting as hard. Trying to do steve with SA feels really bad, and I was really hoping I would enjoy the fight more solo, and lagi is just a pushover. I went back and did steve with other weapons and its not as bad, fun fight, just abrasive in some weapon matchups.

The more I fight lagi, the more I realize they half assed the execution of it. It doesn’t have a kill animation underwater so it will have its health be at literally 1 or close to it so that it will surface and then you slap it once and it dies. Thats so lazy. They have the animations from Tri. Just use those.

I genuinely don't understand why Lance doesn't have some bulwark mode or whatever where you block all incoming chip damage and knockback, but can't move and rapidly drain stamina.
Power Guard is so backwards to me where you take increased chip damage and it's all about boosting the damage of the retribution thrust afterward. Being an immovable wall is basically the power fantasy of all Lance players.

It's really amazing well thought the Switch Axe in Risebreak is. It allowed for multiple types of playstyles. You have counter SA, evade SA, and superarmor SA. I know EBC is the meta and only option in the end, but if you think about it the idea is really damn good.

All the music is weak, generic and way too quiet and lacks any sort of drums or energy. Wilds going back to live recordings + post mixing is the best thing about the game, and I love how it made it possible to have things like synths for the guardian monsters and zoh sia. Wilds is the first game to do music in monster hunter great again after 4U. Mizu's theme is a bit weak but that's one.

Magnet Spike aside from the latch gimmick which wouldn't work in normal MH plays exactly like hammer/hunting horn attacks wise, so no reason bringing it back.
Tonfas I wanna see back but not as an actual class of weapons. Tonfas moves should be adapted into the Dual Blades. I'm of the opinion that DBs have been incredibly stale since 4th gen and the weapons need some playstyle options. I think they should rework Demon and ADemon mode into being a ground focused moveset and an aerial focused moveset respectively. Have one be focused on slingshot slashes on the ground and evades, and the other be focused on aerial dual blades stuff and bring the tonfa combos into that moveset. Dual Blades's only gimmick being that if you attack enough you can activate a shittier demon mode that has no stamina use does not work in the modern games where stamina use can be easily nulified with your armor set. Make the two actual modes have a distinct and fun purpose.
Cat mode would be fun as a special gimmick for just some quest types. No one wants to play as the cat after you've spent so much time making ur hunter look badass.

Have a selection of these per monster and randomize them when it spawns.

A lot of posters here preach the value of hunting things for huntings sake, but fact is if there is nothing to work towards a lot of them stop playing because despite all their profound cultivation they aren't actually the honing masters they LARP themselves to be.
The reward should be something that inspires new ideas for sets, or encourages you to try out other weapons, this is the primary function of RNG charms but you can clearly take it further with stuff like 4Us, Worlds of Rise's gachas.
I think locking layered armor behind it would also appeal to most people, aesthetics being a reward for achieving whatever the hardest quests of the endgame are.
2/ A good challenge
The endgame has to offer friction, if what it feels like is a treadmill with very little opportunity for failure but a consistent reward then what you've created is not a videogame but a job.
The ceiling for this difficulty should be very high, because you're already catering towards the autismos who stuck around in the first place and are therefore proficient at the game, 4U and Rise both had a scaling endgame but I think 4U is much closer what the final difficulty should be compared to Rise which has a very erratic difficulty curve.
3/ A good variety
Partially defined by the games roster, the endgame should utilize its existing content to its maximum potential to ensure the players don't easily get bored. There were many instances in monster hunter where the "endgame" felt like you just hunting one or two monsters because nothing else was challenging or rewarding enough to be meaningful to hunt. Jobbermons should have upgrades that make them threats, quests should have modifiers that are fun while diversifying the gameplay, maps shouldn't just be one arena, if an endgame isn't allowed to introduce significant new content then it has to use what it already has to full effect.

Every monster having Fatalis damage output isn't fun.
My issues with the game being “too easy” wasn’t with the monster’s damage output or attack rate at all. All that needed to be changed for me was giving them more hp so they wouldn’t die in 5 minutes to an optimized build without even needing perfect play. I didn’t ask for every monster to take 80%+ of my hp with every single fucking attack through 400 defense and divine blessing while having the attack rate of Lunastra.
The only fights in World that felt this hard were the fights at the end of World like Fatty himself and the AT monsters. I basically can’t farm the TU monsters in this game because the only investigations I get have them tempered which isn’t fun and the optional quest versions give fuck all rewards after the drop rate changes. So I have to choose between easy with fuck all rewards or rewarding but annoyingly difficult. My friends are having the same problem and it makes them not want to even play anymore.
I honestly think the game deserves its mixed reception at this point. The sweatlord minority cried too loud and now the endgame is ruined for everyone else. The game will probably never be as good as World was especially if it keeps going in this state.
