Not unless it's a total rewriteso it's a three-way fight for the Guild. Have the story take place within the past 5 years and without the Nightingales, then,
1) Gallus and Karliah have been turning the Guild into a business by working with Maven. The goal is to create black market trade networks in the major holds, using her capital as a front.
2) Mercer Frey, a Breton, recognized what kind of bullshit Ulfric can do after the Markarth Incident and him killing Torygg. After discovering that Maven is an Empire-supporter, he concludes that Gallus and Karliah also support the Empire. What he fears is the connection between the Guild and Maven coming out, and Maven's support of the Empire being revealed. In his mind, if Ulfric and his Stormcloaks conclude that the Guild is Empire-aligned and stealing from Skyrim's citizens (thereby holding back the Rebellion), the Guild will be purged. Unwilling to accept that risk, Frey kills Gallus, Karliah barely escapes with her life, and Frey forcibly cuts ties with the Black-Briars. Incidentally, getting on Maven's bad side has caused both her connections and Riften to crack down on the Guild even harder, causing them to seek refuge in the Ratway.
3) Mjoll wants to purge the Guild. She has the Jarl's permission to do so, but Maven still wants the Guild under her control, only with Frey out of the picture. However, every time Mjoll sets out to enter the Ratway, she gets ambushed in the corridors.
The player has three choices:
1) Work with Maven to find the missing Karliah, clear Karliah's name, kill Frey, then sign a contract between the Guild and Maven and begin expanding the Guild
2) Help Frey put an end to Maven, Karliah, and Mjoll. In doing so the player discovers a Shrine to Nocturnal, who becomes the Guild's patron and protector.
3) Work with Mjoll to uncover who really controls the guild and get to work killing everyone involved.

I asked this like a year ago but I'm asking it again since I'm starting to get Skyrim withdrawal
Does anyone know what mods you have to manually install and other process that you manually have to do? (animations building or something) Basically my main skyrim mod organizer folder and main skyrim folder accidentally got fucked after a failed GOG game uninstallation, my saves in the documents folder and actual mods that I backed up are fine but everything else was corrupted. So I'm asking what's the mods and stuff that are present in the overwrite folder in most cases like SKSE? I don't know how fucked I am without the overwrite folder and shit, there's like a bunch of processes involving the ostim (is it still the popular thing?) and the other animation stuff. I basically forgot everything about Skyrim so I guess you can treat me like a newfag. The most I managed to do right now is fixing the enabled mods using the Mod Organizer function but everything else I don't know.
Also what's the new gooner/coomer stuff that's popular? I lost track of Skyrim shit in general due to how much I was dooming

As for the short backstory, he's basically a farmer that grew fed up of working for the rich and started to fight for himself and other serfs. At some point, he was captured and hanged but was saved by a patrol led by the windhelm noble. During the civil war he joined Stormcloaks in hopes that Ulfric will prove to be a more fair ruler than the Empire. He's also slighlty deranged.
