It's taken me 100 hours to reach the end on hard, I really don't want to have to play it all over again, whilst also knowing every single plot beat and item location and have to get every single item and resource to actually survive Nightmare. So far I've absolutely adored all the other Ys games I've played (except Felghana because the final boss is walling me, fucking 3/4 view jumping mechanics to evade install kill attacks and the platforms sometimes pretend to be at a different elevation.
As for X, I've found it's as good as Lacrimosa. Dana's story was actually captivating and I didn't really predict the ending but in X I saw it all coming, which I guess is a point to the game because that's probably good writing if you can predict the twists? Also I like Karja, I want to wife her.

Regret makes phase 1 and 2 run silky smooth. Screwloose is more damage on all skills during phase 1 and 2 but is essentially just a speed boost for phase 3. Since Meursualt will either survive the hit or die instantly with 80% of his max hp permanently reduced.

I think that EGO is to make more normal antagonists stronger, because Shin and Mang seem to require training and a minimum level of combat knowledge that seems to be far an above your average fixer/syndicate member. Meanwhile, literally any rando with enough willpower and autism can awaken EGO and get a powerful boost that they know how to use from the get go.
All the Shin and Mang users seem to be people already experienced in combat, meanwhile you can have dudes like Dongrang who was just a researcher go from civillian level to an actual threat.
Of course the strongest will be those who manage to be profficient in both.
