I sandbagged down to emerald B2 by afking matches until chests spawn and my matches are 30% whale runes with Daria leaders and 9 legendaries, 40% are portals, 5% are sword, 10% are abyss for some reason, and 15% are everything else.

The portals and runes could easily be diamond but they always make an incredibly stupid mistake like Portals not using Sylvia to heal when they could easily avoid lethal and win the game. Runes will play Anne and then not clear the board completely with the summon.

Other decks are a lot more consistent because they find their early game easier. The entire deck is held together by playing the lesbians and Kuon on curve or cheating them out a turn early because it's the only way to salvage bricked hands full of high cost cards. The draw doesn't do anything to clear board either and it can easily get out tempoed if they don't draw Grea/Kuon. People only remember the times where rune high rolls and not the times where they steamroll rune because Grea didn't come out on turn 4 or 5.

I have never won the artifact vs storm haven matchup
It feels completely hopeless I have no idea how I can set up a win.
They casually heal out of range of everything and I have to play ward every turn to not die to the bird. They eventually grind me down with their plentiful card draw and jeanne. I would have won the last game if they didn't have the second jeanne but desu it seems pretty likely for them to have it in 20 cards, I don't feel favored at all into this shit.

You make a good point that this is just the kinda game SV is, but against other decks it at least feels like I have some control of what I can do to stop their gameplan if it comes down to it. Like warding up against forest, or trying to race face dragon/ward up against them when forte starts to come online. With portal, it's just fight as hard as possible to make them blow their super evos early, and kill before gundam comes online. With rune, it's pray they don't draw their early anti aggro cards, and that you can keep answering their win cons. If you waver even a little in your assault, you just lose, and you may waver no matter how well you draw if they high roll all their good cards.

Don't get me wrong, I can beat rune with early aggro as long as I get enough chip in, but there's very little thought involved. Like,you can say "Well, don't commit TOO hard to flooding your field , because they can just will it away!", but you kinda need as much pressure as possible since the dykes can trade into 3 targets once they can evo

In any case, I'm going to try and play dirt rune next expansion, and hope that has good thought into winning matches put into it as a deck.

The biggest issue that makes rune feel fucking awful to play against is everything that Rune plays requires high investment to get rid of. Meanwhile everything you play against rune is dealt with incredibly easily. Dragon can spend 6pp to do 5 damage to the entire board including their side which wont even kill an evolved Grea. Meanwhile Rune can spend 6pp to do 10+ damage to your board and also leave a 5/5. When a normal class needs to clear a really big minion they are either spending a good chunk of pp, an evolution, or multiple cards. When Rune wants to get rid of a big minion they spend 1pp on a 25 damage stormy blast.

I definitely get why the craft FEELS more irritating to play against and for much the same reason Portal does. Their turns tend to be longer and they take more actions. Almost all of these online CCGs have a casino/high roll archetype for a reason. My opinion is simply that they're here to stay and I would be wasting time trying to disprove their fundamental need to exist, because game developers will never agree with me. That being said, I would not balk at a few Rune cards being re-balanced. Face dragon isn't making a board, they're smashing face and leaving themselves open. It feels like an actual race. Rune is stalling as much as they possibly can, while using plain stupid legendary cards that advance their gameplan a huge amount even if you deal with them. I can play wards to play around one, I can't just ward against rune because they will eventually auto win if they don't giga brick, which they almost never will because they draw like crazy.

I'm not asking to only have back and forth board fighting be every single match up, but I just wish there was some way to outplay Rune when it's just "Hope they brick and didn't highroll/Hope you didn't brick and hope they don't highroll."

I'm fine with this sort of deck existing, but don't make it good, no one likes to play against this shit. You lost because they have overtuned cards that mean they get closer to a win even if you beat them down if you can't hit face, and you lost because they have an auto win bullshit combo card at 10, unless you have ambush, and even then they might be able to kill you with giant storm cards off satan or 6 burn damage, or double Kuon letting you OTK with an open board.

Being completely honest, Anne should be nerfed more. Orchis is more broken, but you know what? Maybe all end game legendaries should be that broken because playing once you run out of evos is fucking miserable.
