Dclimb needs to be unbricked first, obviously, which eliminates drawing dclimb near the combo as a viable option to complete it. You'd need to have it on hand for quite a few turns prior. And in those turns, you also had to not use it early to escape pressure, obviously. And if rune has 2-3 dclimbs on hand, that's 3 cards they need to unbrick. Of course it's possible with the amount of spellboost in the game, but certainly not a pleasant situation to have to be in, especially if the opponent can pressure you. I've seen barachan just lose matches with dclimb bricks on his hand all the time.
On the other end of the spectrum, cocytus is a permanent brick until the time of the combo, so if they did draw him early, that's a brick they're holding the whole game. Not to mention just not drawing him after you held to turn 10, since he's a 1 card in the deck.

Forest is planning two turns ahead to set up lethal. Sometimes you have to make the choice between ditching some combo pieces to survive versus holding them, and sometimes the correct play is to literally skip turns if you know you can live and combo them down the next turn no matter what they play.
Forest was my most played class in SV1 so I just go completely used to the playstyle.

Rune being able to heal 12 for very little cost is the main reason it's so fucking oppressive. It's a lategame combo deck that absolutely annihilates control, so it's supposed to fold to aggro, except aggro struggles to deal 32 damage before it runs out of steam. It's absurd.
