you gotta keep in mind that originally 3+4+5 were going to be released as a package deal, and also that the release of 3+4 was delayed far beyond originally planned due to the gamemaker updates/integration
chapter 3's egg is by far the most convoluted to get to, however it is really the only one that you can get to without either forewarning from outside sources or random (and significant) luck. it's convoluted but in theory something you can figure out going purely off of deduction and replaying while keeping your eyes open for hidden things
in addition to this, the chapter 3 egg man encounter contains hints for egg man encounters in all of the other chapters preceding and following it (up to 5 at least). it is the tutorial egg room, or at least the one designed to be found first and inform searches elsewhere. i would guess the chapter 2 or 4 eggs would work as logical second ones to find, their entry points are both marked and 4's has a weird hidden room attached beyond the egg secret
similarly chapter 3 seems to have the intended "blind teaser" for weird route in the mantle minigames for s-ranking
the design is kind of crappy as we are seeing it, but for a retrospective full product, or at least chapters 1-5, it works decently well

When I did that random puzzle I threw the block over the water because I noticed that was a thing I could do
When I found the spotlight I stood in it because some of the other spotlights gave funny scenes, and then I tried all the different dialogue options because I wanted to know what the zapper would say
I fucked around until the wizard guy gave me the thing, and then I wandered around looking for red Xes
I think the Ribbick I encountered was in an area I hadn't even fully explored yet? Anyway when I fought it I noticed the X and first I thought that meant I had to go left outside the battle but when that didn't work I triggered another encounter and tried the thing I was supposed to do because I remembered the previous menu/soul fuckery in Undertale
I got a bit lucky throwing the block but I do think that the whole process is something a careful completionist can be expected to figure out without hints, albeit on a replay, while egg 1 and 2 rely on pure chance and egg 4 requires you to know you have to keep entering and leaving

The dialogue supports Kris feels physically ill fighting it, and their damage is small and gets bigger if they're the only left from building up courage to fight back for their friends. It can be a mixture of guilt knowing they're helping the Knight and betraying their friends + seeing this sickly creature as a person they used to know.

Also Kris froze up in the Knight fight because it's Dess and Kris was too stunned by the emotion. And Kris initially didn't like Ralsei because the hatless sprite got uglier, but later got more used to it and started appreciating the tragic and dramatic side of Ralsei.

Okay. Susie is the UNUSED dialogue. Dess faked her death, traumatizing Noelle, and has been hiding out in the woods. Asgore has found evidence of Dess via the black shard. She's been making dark fountains to play pretend with Kris like the old days and made Kris promise to play along. Her powers and looks in the dark world are because of something she stole from the bunker that's supposed to be powerful enough to deal with anything that could cause problems, including Titans. Ralsei and the ingame prophecy were created by Dess using the thing from the bunker.
She and Kris planned for her to first show up in the church dark world but Dess got pissed at Tenna for breaking the deal and showed up early. She was going to "kidnap" Toriel but Kris slashing the tires wasn't part of the plan and was hoping Undyne could show up and stop Dess from actually hurting anyone. Kris is trying to keep Susie out of the bunker so she doesn't get hurt for real by Dess, and her at the end of chapter 4 pushing Kris' hand back is forcing the game to stay on track. Carol doesn't know about Kris and Dess' games.


Dess is essentially a Dungeon Master that got pissed at the end of chapter 3 and tried to "rocks fall, everyone swoons" the party.

I've seen so many instances of players refusing to attack even in scenarios where it's very advantageous just because they think they're outsmarting the game.
