One interesting thing about most GY decks is that they'll typically either function via trigger effects or by banishing from GY to activate their effects. If they have monsters that can special summon themselves from the GY as a non-trigger, they'll often do so via either banishing (or shuffling in the case of Tecuhtlica) mats from GY, or by discarding/destroying/tributing/etc a single card, which will usually also plus you. The notable exceptions are the weird Chaos clones like Lightpulsar and Dark Simorgh, which very clearly have a Chaos-style banish from GY effect to summon from hand, but also a reborning effect but with the downside of a heavy minus to balance the recursion, the Nine-Tailed Fox effect I'm pretty sure no one uses, the shitty Poseidra, and Ogdoadics. It also turns out that needing to get rid of more than 1 card for an inherent reborn effect is kind of usually fucking terrible

I'm mixing Blue Eyes with Metalmorph, about 17 cards, not just a small engine.
Honestly it might be the strongest I can build, pure Blue Eyes (even with the small Fullmetal engine) wasn't cutting it anymore, ending on the level 9 synchro just got laughed at by every enemy deck. The metalmorph monsters are easy to summon here, search every archetype card, and have the kind of Floodgate effects I need to screw over my enemies during their turn (500 burn damage per activated card, METALZOA freaking destroys 1 card per enemy activation twice per turn, and the Fullmetal omninegate). That's the kind of power I need on my board during the enemy turn , blue eyes is there to swing during my turn.

The early OCG 2025.04 metagame was shaped by the three themes from Deck-Build Pack: Justice Hunters, Dracotail, Yummy and K9. The OCG 2025.04 Limit Regulation dealt another blow to Ryzeal as they fell off from top contenders, whereas Maliss managed to hang on.

Compiled from a total of 1751 top-placing decks from 304 competitive tournaments held in Japan, China Mainland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam, here is the final metagame breakdown of the OCG 2025.04 format.

The overall tally has Vanquish Soul and Yummy at very similar count, 361 Vanquish Soul to 346 Yummy. However, this includes Week #1 to #3 which was before the release of Duelist Advance. If we count only Week #4 to #13, Vanquish Soul stands at 360 while Yummy drops to 249, a much more telling difference. The line chart displays a similar trend, Vanquish Soul stands above the rest at the top for 9 consecutive weeks from Week #5 to Week #13.

Watching it is probably easier then reading so I built the list, here. The techs I could take out are Guardragon Cataclysm and Time Engine, but in this deck they should be easy to proc and destroy enemy cards.

That was mostly by issue with pure blue eyes, I couldn't do much to mess with the enemy board during my turn. Here the priority is to get some metalmorph monsters out, they all screw with the enemy moves, and they can be searched by nearly every other card.
Blue eyes / sage / maiden can likely still do their thing and birth me a synchro or just be tribute fodder for my other cards. There's so many red-eyes that Return of the red-eyes is a sensible choice and it could act as a 2nd true light (and darkness metal as a 3rd one), I don't think this conflicts with the blue eyes strategy

So now they have a meltdown and meltthrough which is just stacking and a rota with extra steps. They have exagard that is a search+bounce, but it feels like they are lacking an endboard piece or a real boss monster, so they have to cope with generic 3-axis tools like armor xyz/utopic draco.

Pretty easy. The deck's core isn't bad, its just not got enough tools to make it worthwhile. If you could reasonably end on Brute Blues and 3 R.B.s (therefore 4 interactions) then its a solid deck.
Legit if the second wave just contains 2 more Quick Effect interrupts and some more consistent access to Stage Landing (i.e. Link-1 that searches the Field Spell) then the deck is actually nuts. Bonus points if we get recycling and a Link-3 that is intended to be in the MMZ

You know it's funny to think how often a meta deck actually fails to improve its actual type, Reptile is still garbage sans the ED searcher, Pyro is still garbage even with both Ryzeal and Snake Eyes, Thunder despite 3 meta decks, 2 of which saw tier 0 status, is literally just a bunch of conflicting archetypes piled onto another they keep having to design around, Fish is just Abysspike and maybe Coelecanth in Merlanteans

From the replays I've seen, it's already a functional going 2nd otk deck that can consistently make a 4500 brute blues. With the thing attacking twice and all it's materials attack after it clears the board, it can close a decent amount of games. I hope they make something that can change original attacks to make up for all the RBs having sub 1k atk
