I have been playing the game for over a week now on both PC and mobile. I am not F2P as I paid $200 for my first deck. Initially, the economy seems to be very bad (500 gold pack price, lower vial from liquefying silvers, and, critically, no liquefy first 3 copies). I thought it would sucks so bad as a F2P player or a low-spender. One week ahead, I changed my mind. The economy is fine and I can enjoy many good decks. In my current opinion, the only thing that need change is the no liquefy first 3 copies rule.

I am not the luckiest player (no 100 packs key jackpot) and neither I do any reroll. Just straight up normal player that buys all crystal package, plus battle pass. Currently, I have 2 top tier, pretty much fully upgraded decks (puppet portalcraft and artifact portalcraft, 3 if you include hybrid). I also have enough vials from extra cards to upgrade my half-baked decks into good viability (ramp dragon, midrange sword, aggro abyss). The only classes where I don't have enough resources to even make half-baked decks are runecraft and havencraft, in which both have very expensive top tier decks (I am absolutely fine with this, F2P players and low-spenders aren't supposed to have everything). Finally, I have around 7000 gold that I save for next expansion (that is still growing everyday) as I am satisfied enough with my current collection.

So far so good. I am having a blast with this game and I have variety of viable decks. So, what happens that suddenly change my mind and my perspective on the economy? It turns out that the economy is REALLY supported by the freebies that Cygames give (Daily packs, park keys, events, events, events (many of them), bonus packs from here and there, and recently, 3 free legendary packs). So, as long as Cygames keep pumping up these freebies, I think the economy is going to be fine.

As much as I hate the no liquefy first 3 copies rule (and expensive cosmetics lol), I can't give the game negative review anymore.

Honestly I’m just having a lot of fun with this game and wanted to post something positive about it after seeing all the negative reviews.

I’ll freely admit that I’m not a FTP player, but I haven’t spent a ton (only $200) and I’m really enjoying the fast-paced experience and play styles so far.

I’ve never played the original Shadowverse so I’m not doing a direct comparison here. I will say however that compared to the CCGs/TCGs I’m used to (Hearthstone, MTG including physical) the cost here really doesn’t seem out of line from what I’m accustomed to with this genre. Again, not comparing to the original, just the experience of a totally new player.

I was going to wait longer to write a post like this so I could speak with more gameplay experience, but I have a few decks built with reasonable success and am having a ton of fun, and because I almost didn’t start this game because of some of the negative posts I wanted to write from my experience to encourage other new players to try it out!

It's an archetype with no merit currently. Building a board is a losing proposition when every deck has some form of board clear or targeted removal to deal with your big guys. You've got nothing that's particularly sticky outside of getting big stats because no aura/ambush/last words to restore tempo either. Kuon is your only way to do damage from hand, and he not only has no synergy with your game plan, but is actually anti-synergy because he wants to fill the field with bullshit that spellboosts your hand (that often has nothing boostable) while you're trying to build up a field of thick wards. Just having a stack of Earth Sigils on the field means you can't field anything alongside Kuon, so if you set up a Juno on a previous turn you have to make sure you clear out at least one of your shikigami to not lose your incoming ward golem.

That's completely fine given how much upfront value she has. It just means that Portal's s/evo burden is that much lighter compared to some decks. You mostly want your evos for early damage, Alouette, or Sylvia anyway, so not needing it for Ralmia is a huge boon.

I expect every faction to get at least 1 new playable deck with some getting a bonus one too. They're basically doubling the card size. Usually base/1st sets are very big so expansions do very little to the game unless they contain multiple good cards, but in SV2's case the set is just 140 cards, adding another 140 should do a lot to the game.

However, I doubt we'll have more than 4 Tier 1 decks still, the powerlevel will also increase. However some Tier 2 decks will hard counter Tier 1s.

That still varies wildly across games because there's a wide gulf in out-of-turn interaction and uninteractable threats.
But no, damage coming down from hand isn't really dishonest because it comes at specific breakpoints in cost and you can play around it or prepare for it. It's dishonest if there's 0 counterplay and nothing you can conceivably do to prepare for it without dying, but there are actually few things like that. Even Orchis doesn't totally fit that bill because she needs a board clear of wards to be able to send everything at face and/or needs to have telegraphed the incoming attack with Noah. She's still bullshit, but not exactly dishonest.

I'd considered Vampy bat coming in, but I think that the go face version will wreck shit early only for it to fall off as a, like you mention, a more control-style Abyss deck emerges with Ginsetsu that will hang in better in the long term. I think once people discover the theoretical bullshit Dragon decks, Vampy will fall off between them and the Dirt Rune making thick boards. I'm predicting Dirt Rune settles around tier 2 at best, but remains present enough that it checks face aggro aside from Dragon.

Roach is mostly honest because it needs to hoard and build up resources for its big combo turn, so it spends most of the game sacrificing board presence and just playing to stay alive until then. It's pretty typical combo fair.
Roach can blow through wards, but your main ways of doing so are multi-card combos or require evo, so you're trading multiple resources to do so. Granted, going Bayle > Bayle > whatever is often what you want to do to set up the win anyway, but they also need to charge up their Bayles, so you can kind of play around them by giving them little to suicide their early units into.
I think the main thing that keeps Roach from being totally honest is that there isn't a ton you can do to prepare for it and it can be harder to predict when the combo is a go. It can also just steal the whole game on a good high roll, but I would say that's more a function of them having a bullshit high roll than it is the deck as a whole being dishonest.

They need a 3 drop that heals 2 as a fanfare for more defensive setups, and a 4 drop with an ability that makes damage to yourself be replicated to the enemy for aggro setups.

Abyss can be more control or aggressive, but control lacks enough heals to use their tools effectively and live while aggressive lacks enough damage for the price of killing yourself. Those two cards individually would fix each playstyle completely.

The OG control Blood deck was pretty bullshit, but there were also aggro versions of Bats like Bloodsucker of the Night Bats.
I have to wonder if we're going to get something closer to Blood Queen Vampy or Vampire Princess. She'll probably be a legend either way.
Crimson Majesty is probably out since Wrath/Vengeance are defunct.
I'm also expecting something akin to Vampire Queen's Castle for Blood to tie together self-face and bats.

I'd argue roach is fair because it requires a lot of moving pieces to setup, and you can frustrate their efforts via a mix of keeping your HP up, tossing out wards, and putting down enough threats to force them to answer the threats rather than preserve their hand resources for their roach turn. Roach isn't like powerhouse of FUCK YOU value condensed into a single card.

More bounce cards, so Roach can be used as minor chip (3-4) damage before committing to the kill. A meme 20pp card meant to combo with Rose Queen that floods you hand with Fairies, and makes Bursts cost 0.
>Sword
A variety of Rush cards that leave behind 1/1s on death. More follower spam, and an in-faction removal card that gets better with the more followers you have.
>Rune
Dirt support, cheap follwers that give Sigils and cheap sigils that control the board. A summoner that fills your board eith golems, a summoner that grants golems storm, and a follower that does damage based on the amount of Sigils used/created. Spell boost gets better card draw, and another hybrid card that only Spellboost will use.
>Dragon
More cheap removal that is just short of killing things on time. A ramp caed that buffs a unit when Overflow is active. Discard support: draw when discarded, and add other cards when the on-board follower dies.
>Haven
Amulets that work with Rodeo. Dunno what but they sure will try. Skullfane still forgotten. A caed that subtracts 1 duration from ALL emblems, for Lapis and other counterplay.
>Portal
An amulet that gives you Artifact parts. Some more cards that give puppets varius effects (Ward, I guess). A smaller Noah, and he'll never see play again.
>Abyss
Actual Vengeance cards, but the payoff will still not be enough. Wallet Abyss gets 6 more mandatory legends and the deck will still only be good for aggro. But it will be very good at it.
