no, there's no immediately tangible benefit. I'd advise doing it at least until you stop seeing things that surprise you and you're used to how the game plays. It teaches some fundamentals you can get used to a bit easier

It can just result in more hp damage / student deaths or slower clears.
There are event challenges that required you to do all the battles in a certain time, which it can be worse for, and it can often do a worse job of keeping your students health if you're underleveled etc.
I think I only skipped when I was overleveled and going back to 3* old stages and knew it wouldn't cost me a death.

>>530141465If you're trying to be VERY sweaty getting multiple pinks, especially Shun since she can't be farmed is nice. Shunis only really useful for pvp and rare raids though, she won't help your early game.
Mutsuki and Aru are very good early game units - they're what I started off with, just 1 pink and it was Aru. I was happy with what I had, there's much worse.
If you want to sit around rerolling there are better options, but what you have is fine - you can just get on with playing the game and trying to get enough rolls together for blufes - having a spark for that will be better than minmaxing your first 10 pull.

Hina, the last listed student, is free but really not good. Very early on people rated her highly because high cost, high power, but it was steadily revealed that in most cases single target, low cost is the meta in BA. Furthermore her AOE is quite bad. She has SOME uses, but not many, and most want her only because she's Hina.
Everyone else in the bottom tier is actually quite useless in terms of meta only. Haruna? I only used her in year 1 of the game. Shiroko? I use her sometimes, but really shouldn't (low damage, slow ex, no unique powers)--Karin is the only one with genuine use (against Hod mainly) but it's a weird use and maldy.

Duplicates are good but you can buy the currency that duplicates give from the shop, so you never actually need to roll a character more than once, actually rolling a dupe just gives you some more of the currency but you get plenty.

Some people even advise spending pyros on energy refreshes - I know I did when I started, because the increase in content you can do earns you more than the pyros you spent.

More energy will always be useful early for translating into more rolls, but I've personally never bought the AP pack so I can't advise.

Like I said though, I'm reluctant to go advising newfags piss around with that since you could hypothetically not benefit if it doesn't enable you to do something you otherwise wouldn't, but when I started it was a longer span of time to blufes so getting higher earlier allowed me to clear a lot more event missions / raids than I might have otherwise.

I spent a lot of AP farming Yuuka and Tsubaki to 5* and then UE40+ when I started because they were regularly seeing use and were meta in pvp, though they're not quite as meta currently.
If you really wanted to be optimal sweat you technically get some benefit from saving the shards until after you've rolled them but don't worry about that - you'd need to have enough shards TO redeem a student before that was something to think about.
I don't like how the art is inconsistent across different characters. It just screams low quality and vexes me greatly.

As long as you keep spending your energy you'll be fine - you'll get brickwalled just by your characters levels, not by what characters you have.
The event recaps include a LOT of free students that are significant upgrades over what you have. I don't advise skipping the story, but I do advise doing them and going back to read them - you're (rightfully) hamstringing yourself by not rolling until Rio, so don't shoot yourself in the foot ontop of that by refusing to get the free event recap students.
cHibiki is probably an improvement despite her EX's overcost. mYuzu or sMiyu will be a better special than anything you have and sShizuko is probably better than Chinatsu as a sustain. tHasumi is better than any striker you have, though I think some newfags were struggling to get her thanks to the recap events endboss, but something to work towards.
Even weaker units like sIzumi and Michiru will probably beat some of your strikers for the early content because at least they're red.

Anyway, I would keep anything with Shun, she's the best starter student you can't farm. Otherwise just pick your favorites. Trust me, tryharding in this game isn't worth the malding unless you REALLY care how you stack on a leaderboard.

I like the abydos group, Shiroko has the bluntness to her that's great for comedy or being serious. I like Nonomi but everytime I see her art it reminds me of mmds/shitty porn games. Hoshino is a retard but she's my precious student. It was fun to see a different side to Ayane during the robbery but I feel she got the least development. I liked the scenes with Hifumi, hopefully she gets more later. Serika's there.
The stars of the show were the problem solvers for me. Aru is a sweetie and I regret not getting her in my starter rolls. Haruka is a bit dumb but it's ok because she's cute. Was neat seeing her determination in the later parts but I wish they showed why she's so loyal to Aru. Mutsuki is a cheeky brat that needs correction. I feel for Kayoko trying to be the calculated and cool brains of the group when the rest are like they are.
The prefects were good too, Hina is cool. Good leader, can't wait to get her in a few weeks. Ako gets brownie points because I like the type of character they were going for with her (also she shares a name with my vn wife). I really like Iori's design, I just wish they didn't make sensei suck her toes.
Black suit is a good villain, and his theme goes hard. Something I didn't understand was the credit card scene. Was sensei implying he'd go into debt to save abydos? Nonomi talked about using her gold card earlier in the story to pay off the debt but got shot down so I don't really see why they made such a big deal out of sensei saying he'd do it.
