Chapter 5 is going to start like Chapter 2 and 3 where a bunch of hang-ups and obvious problems people have get addressed like "can darkners come back after their fountain is sealed" and Susie not getting that darkners can't be in the light world.

I highly suspect we'll be able to get a Thorn Ring through normal means in ch5. Whether it be from a normal shop vendor, or a secret boss reward and you wouldn't have to touch the weird route at all.
