Chaotic alliance raids should have addressed the issue of power creep and how it ruined so many alliance raids mechanically. Maybe an "Unreal" version of old raids, to revitalize older content and realize it as how it used to be, but with a level 100 kit. Instead, we got a single raidboss encounter in a geometric arena, and raiders called it the best content they'd ever seen.

What a fucking waste of an idea.

it's worth it for this group

I'm so used to the downtime in random abba/foe that runs I ordered food before trialing with these guys fully expecting to be able to eat it during hallways or before bridge but no my food was getting cold because I could not find a single opportunity to eat. This group is no nonsense no fuss. In and out, FULL clear in 47 minutes. 3 clears per night. No fancy tricks to speed run, we didn't skip any of the loot either. Just really high damage and very little wait between pulls.

These are probably all gamers grinding that title achievement so I figured I'll go all the way too. Getting 100 clears will be easier on my sanity if I do it with these guys.

Oh and I'm no longer annoyed by the scheduling thing. I was a new member and didn't have the right roles for pings and reminders so the GM put me at the top of the waitlist for each day I didn't sign up for, that made me feel very appreciative.

The state of all games has been disappointing. All genres are stagnant and neutered, auteurs have been kicked out of big companies for having underperforming titles doomed to dev hell in indie dev or persistent flanderization with their name indicating a game is wacky(unless you made metal gear), nearly all games of A quality have microtransactions, nearly everyother game that comes out is abandoned after a couple of patches, people in discussions for newer games are often bots or Indian hired pr, old titles are necro'd for revival with new staff that didn't care about the original game or have no funds, and possibly worst of all GaaS is only getting more relevant as time passes with everyone still wanting a fortnite of their own with each studio never understanding why they produce duds more often than not.

I just hate how whenever we get an MMO that tries to break the mold and do something new, the developers behind it pull some retard shit and fuck it up. Then the game fails and the other industry devs look at it and go "oh, well I guess people don't want [unique thing the failed game did really well] after all."

For example, tera's class synergy was really well done. Tanks, lancers specifically, had so much fun party support and felt enjoyable to play. Healing was fun too. Like, actually enjoyable. The last time I enjoyed healing in a game was when I played tera. But the devs fucked it all up by being retarded. I won't get into it, nobody wants to hear it, but I hate it when people go "yeah, tera tried action combat and look at what happened to that game!" as if the reason it failed was because it had fun combat and not because the people running it were fucking retards. BDO fell into the same issues. Here was a game with a seamless open world that had reasons to be out in it, and dozens of interconnected systems with no real stopping point so you could grind forever if you were that obsessed. But the devs chipped away at everything and ruined everything and got greedy as fuck and broke promises, so now nobody plays it.

Meanwhile, these shit games that don't take risks and barely try anything new get to keep living and collecting profits and breaking sales records. No matter how poorly dawntrail performs, its overall numbers are still relatively high when you zoom out on the chart. Game's been doing great since shb and has a long way to go before the team really enters panic mode, and they know it. I'm just so bummed out on the whole genre right now. XIv will probably be my last mmo because this genre is ass and only the wrong lessons are being learned over and over again.

These games never want to produce content. For as bad as XIV can be about its content cycles, Tera would do this awful thing where they'd make us wait like 5 months for the content to get cycled, and then all they'd do is just take out the current 3 dungeons and put 3 different ones in. This wasn't a new dungeon most of the time, either; it was some older dungeon that'd been introduced years ago, being brought back. So they'd actively remove content from the game just so they could bring it back later. But the combat was so fun that people didn't really mind. Naturally though, this all came to a head.

It fucking sucks. We've both seen how a game can live absurdly longer than it deserves, from just having really fun gameplay. But in the end, it's not enough to protect it from truly harmful decisions brought on by stupid fucking devs. For all of XIV's faults, its developers still haven't done anything catastrophically stupid lately. Island sanctuary wasn't stupid from a testing grounds perspective. That combined with cloud test servers made it REALLY seem for a while that we were going to get instanced housing. The "catastrophically stupid" part came after, when NOTHING came out of any of that and all of it -- including the cloud servers -- were brushed under the rug. Not trying to open this can of worms again, but telling your community that there was a "cost" issue for making a normal mode variation of the only foray dungeon you were even including in the first real not-raid grindcore content we'd received all patch, was a god damned mindfuck. XIV's raiding community are like the spongebob nematodes. They devour something and then quickly move on to the next thing. You barely see these people doubling back around to do chaotic or the previous savage tier, because once you get your rewards there's no reason to go back. The content has a naturally short shelf life (to say nothing of the FOMO surrounding it), so the people who enjoy it don't enjoy it for very long and quickly begin wondering when the next thing is going to release. Since they're far from the majority demographic anyway, they shouldn't be treated like a top priority imo, but Square continues to go out of their way to please this group, and when they piss them off they apologize like mad and perform rapid fixes to things that are affecting them. Meanwhile, housing enjoyers are still waiting for furniture caps to increase. Alternate job enjoyers are still waiting for news on beastmaster. Variant enjoyers are still waiting for their first variant dungeon. Deep dungeon enjoyers are still waiting for that. BLU enjoyers are all dead. This is their brand of high difficulty content, and it's why I've never really been a fan of their harder fights. I used to enjoy EX content back when it felt like chaotic shit that you could scrape through with enough grit, but they began making EX mechanics feel more like savage lite, and I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. I'm not fond of the difficulty being different flavors of "everyone needs to remember that the script calls for us to preposition in our clock spots or we die and have to run it back" but that's what a lot of this raidslop is now. And the prog process isn't even fun because the jobs aren't fun to play and haven't been for years. So you're in this boring square shaped room, doing the same two minute loop that requires zero thought, fighting a boss that runs through the same scripted fight mechanics with minor variations, until you hit your prog point and the same guy fucks it up again so you get to run it back a third time. And then a fourth. And then a fifth. And then you had shit like OC, which on release was so hard to organize that it would take people 3+ hours to even get everyone in the same instance.

They were vague about whether or not this would extend to apartments, too. And there's basically been no news about that ever since.

It pisses me off, because this game actually has a lot of not-raiding shit to do in it, but it's all neglected like crazy in favor of battle content that's samey, dull, and totally lacking in replayability. If they let people save furniture loadouts like glam plates and doubled the furniture caps, they'd give people decorating enjoyment that could sustain them for months, but they won't even mention it.
