The PVP (which let's be honest is 5 minutes a day total) is pay to win, that's the truth. But you don't need to be top of the leaderboards for anything, it's 1 side mode of many modes.
As far as a full F2P experience the game is fairly generous. You can borrow whale cards from other players if you want a shortcut. You get tons of free resources, they dump so many stamina restores on new players that you can play 6 hours a day for a full month and you're still going to have overstock. The core game modes are very fair to win, I've been playing less than a week but have multiple won runs including the post-game on a nice range of characters.

I've been fiddling with swapping between styles while spamming oguri for the event points. Am I completely off base that you can essentially stat stick down all non-long races by just going front? If there's too many front runners than go preferred style, and on long go end if too many people in front. I could just be seeing patterns in stars and just losing randomly.
I have gotten 3 Marzenskis and ZERO Bourbons. If I end up having to spark I'm going to be pissed
