I used to think runes up for self and allies would be top tier before realizing how easy it is to optimally route and get level 15 + 200k every run. Then I used to think start with stonesword key must be top tier but I've gotten so good at finding keys that my inventory looks like this 10 minutes into almost every game.

Attack up from evergaols is literally all you need. The other two slots on the evergaol relic are pretty worthless, especially the treasure one. Having a spare key feels like an unnecessary safety net at this point.

ES Fulghor had the foundation of one of the best bosses in the game already, so making him even better wasn't the craziest task ever. Base augur is straight up boring, as a melee character you can't do anything but chase him 80% of the fight, as a ranged character you also chase him and just hold down the shoot button, not really having to dodge much of anything most of the time.

Having now 100% the achievements and solo'ed everything as each class, he is actually bad and it makes me sad. The problem is that he can't deal enough damage to be competitive against any of the other characters and even if he has a 100% flawless run with the best passives and weapons he still can't even get close to others power levels.

Take his main damage method which is supposed to be counters. You have to get in the way of danger, you have to time the block, you have to counter attack AND the counter has to land which is the biggest issue. The nightlord for example jumps away after nearly every single attack, being able to land just one counter is rough let alone enough to be consistent. Thats the bare minimum for one counter and he has to repeat this consistently while raider just jump attacks and recluse releases nukes or exec procs bleed poison and frost all within 3 seconds.

The best Guardian plays I've done/seen is to use his charged heavy attack and basically nothing else because at least you can land that reliably and it deals ok poise damage.

You can't go wrong with the Bestial incantations, given their low commitment costs (The absolute highest Faith requirement is only 15), and the fact that the Clawmark Seal Gurranq gives you scales with Strength, meaning that you can easily introduce it in a Strength build for some fun options (Plus throwing a huge fucking boulder at people never gets old). You can also forgo the more offensive incantations entirely and just use them for buffs. Howl of Shabriri/Flame, Grant Me Strength, and Golden Vow are potent options for your arsenal if you need an edge in battle. I also know that the Frenzied Flame incantations are very strong, and can effectively one-shot shit from ridiculous distances. I still need to play around with the Dragon Cult, Golden Order, and Erdtree incantations, but there's a lot of fun things to use, for sure.

Rally; Because its Rally, its the best heal in the game.

This leaves 5 slots on your relics which in order should go:
Guard counter given a boost based on current HP (non-stacking)
Improved Halberd Attack Power *3
Improved Guard Counters *1

Now just land every single counter and spam your heavy attack.

The only enemy in the entire game it is useful on is banished knights and knight captains.
Bigger enemies can at least be interrupted by the normal skill, and smaller enemies are instantly 1-hit by the normal skill anyway.
Have you never played with another guardian using the extended skill? When you're not actually piloting the guardian, the enemies caught in the extended skill look like they're rapidly teleporting around and attacks that don't cleave in a big area often won't hit them.
