To use the synthesis version you need to get the patcher in synthesis, then when you have the TUS patcher selected there is a whole page for settings where you set all the parameters you want, the ones you read on the page for arena, then you have to run the patcher to generate your settings as a mod.

I have done that before to make arena into basically a soft unleveled world.

Vanilla encounter zone levels are generally really low, like <10. What he is saying there is that with the vanilla easy modifier of 0.33 combined with the low level of vanilla encounter zones you end up with level 1s.
With a 0.75 easy multiplier like in arena or the default for TUS and higher leveled zones you shouldn't have that problem.

The modification in sound and opacity are based in physical reality that affects everyone. Illusion magic is targeted and applied directly to sentient beings to alter their individual subjective perception.
