the front requires more speed, but in exchange, it has to deal with much less RNG
if the horse is fast, and is at front, that's it, unless someone catches up, or their stamina runs out, they are good
if horse is at the back, their stats can matter, but even if they have the perfect lineup, it doesn't matter if there are fifteen other horses parked directly around them, making them unable to actually speed up
this becomes even worse late in the race, as the weak pace runners fall off, acting as falling rocks to dodge around or be taken way down and basically completely fucked

given we're in the early stages of the game, if you choose to grind out your own 9-spark then you just shoot for 600+ in speed, stam, and power and hope to hit anything 3-spark. you then have to do the same with another unit while renting one of the other 3-sparks in the stat that you prefer. consider the number the runs needed to get your first 3-spark, now consider you only get three runs a day with a rental. good luck.

You use 2 speed cards in most decks, very rarely 3 is optimal. You can't use a card to support her own uma version so you want 1 other extra in case you want to train an uma with a meta card. First of all, stop wasting clocks on horses that are clearly not going to make it. Watch their races so you can see exactly what went wrong. They fall behind in the last stretch, you ran out of stamina. Keep getting boxed in? Brute force Front Runner since its only a Wit debuff and you can win off pure stats.

Second of all, post your support card deck. If your cards are mid, probably going to struggle. You can get by even with R's technically though it will be difficult, but mainly just need to know what stats you are focusing on.

Third of all, don't rush yourself because spamming refills on results that aren't working out. Watch the team races. Even if you skip, look at their placements. If your horses aren't coming in second/third then you are clearly fucking them up. Usually Ive seen its always a severe lack of stamina because career mode has an invisible stat buff that baits players into thinking their stats are good enough for the real world. Same advice for rushing goes to training as well. You don't want to rest as much as possible, but if you're going to get fucked over by high percentages, a turn to gain +50 energy is infinitely better then a mood down and -5 to a stat at minimum.

Wit affects your positioning. The longer it takes to get into your preferred style the more stam you burn early on.
Green lady will say you need more Power, but Wit is usually the ignored stat.
Late/End want at least 400 Wit since they pass so much.

Getting Rushed has 2 Wit checks. First for if it happens, Second for how quick it ends.

300 Wit is about 70% chance for skills to work
550 Wit is about 90%

You don't. There's not enough incentives to go as End Closers right now. Sure you get the best stamina efficiency but anyone with enough stamina can do that, and you're committing yourself to having to pass the entire roster to reach the front.

Try Pace chaser on her. Its easy to pivot and it has the most skills besides Front Runner to stack up on.

it's not that bad. personally I'd recommend swapping 1 of the speed ones for Takano (the woman wearing green that works at the academy), you should have gotten her SSR for free. It's a really good card for new players lacking strong cards for a few reasons:
1. Her ability includes stamina cost reduction and failure reduction on whatever training she lands on, universally useful
2. She unlocks her Dates, 5 times you can do basically a mega-rest that gives reasonable stamina, mood up, and has some extra bonuses like free stats and ailment cures. Importantly you can't fail these, there's no chance of getting only +30 energy or getting Night Owl.

The two benefits above combined mean she is a huge boost on your turn economy, you will rack up a lot of value no matter what your RNG is from her, unlike a speed card which only is useful the times it lands on speed while you are ready to train speed. Any turn you don't have to waste on just +mood or just resting or just +ailment heal is going to add up.

I personally find that END calls for a balanced setup, and it honestly makes the Training RNG much more forgiving. But nothing honestly beats trying out some runs for yourself and getting a feel for it. If you don't feel like your in a good place racing, then focus on training. Otherwise I would aim for some G1 for loads of fans and SP so you can upgrade your unique skill. Borrowing a good WIT card or the Oguri Power card are both super helpful

you need to learn the stats and what kind of races each are needed for.

Speed is always vital on any horse

Endurance is important especially on longer races, if you're not a sprinter you need to focus on it a little and if you're doing medium or long races you NEED it to be high

Strength is critical for late/end horses but every horse should have it because it determines several important things like how fast your horse speeds up

Guts sucks and will get 2 reworks in the future, for now you can safely ignore it on horses

Wis determines how often abilities with trigger chances trigger and reduces chances of random debuffs like late start or rushed. Important to get some of it, and it's training actually gains you energy anyway so there's no excuse not to at least get like 300 of it on any horse.
