I mean this sincerely, not to shit up thread , but it might be better to play FFXIV or Warframe. Both of them have a heavier narrative purpose that adds to the intrigue to push on in either game and gives new players direction.
No one knows where to start people with Destiny. Even with Edge of Fate, itโs not marketed as a jump in entry point, even though systems-wise, itโll be presented in that way.
It sounds silly, but you sort of have to force yourself to care about Destiny as a new player. Maybe Edge of Fate will turn that feeling around, not sure.

To make the world feel lived in and active, thatโs the hardest element. However, thereโs a stepping stone to that first, and thatโs Metroid Prime.
This is where Edge of Fate comes in, in that youโre building the gameplay foundation for intrigue and exploration in the world at a base level, for its own sake.
The social element? Thatโs a deeper conversation. Very heavy gameplay conversation around existing tropes, incentive, โrole playingโ, spectacle and daily life. Itโs very hard to systemize.

im still upset at just how lame the warlock exotic class item perks are. you had osmio/verity for awhile and then it got nerfed, you got discount consecration titan with syntho/inmost using lightning surge, and then just star eater/apotheosis for bosses. And I suppose there are some interesting combos but once you use them you realize that you should probably just be using the base exotic like necrotic

Also I could be wrong but synthos seems to buff poison damage and I think this may have slipped by the bungie nerf hammer. So, if you want T5 loot, you have to grind 150 hours to meet the power requirement for the activities that drop T5 loot. Allegedly. Then, come the midpoint of the expansion, the cap will raise and you'll start getting T5 loot from all over the place. Sure.
What if the perk pools are bad? T5 don't have better/more curated perk pools. You're just given more chances to roll non-dogshit perks. And even then, what if the guns themselves are bad? There's plenty of bad guns with good perk pools, and vice-versa. T5 isn't going to save those, and carrying that T5 loot into future seasons will only see it get worse due to the loss of the New Gear Bonus.
So, my question is: What's the intended goal for the player? Obviously the intended goal for Bungie here is to increase player retention and stuff the servers. I think that's short-sighted, but I'm not blind to the needs of Bungie as a business. Capitalism states that if you want my money, you have to sell me a product I desire more than keeping the money I have. I'm not gonna pay for 150 hours of grinding for nothing with no purpose. Is the grinding itself intended to be the end goal? I played Korean MMOs for over a decade, but even as grindy as they got, there was always a clear goal at the end of the tunnel. Oh yeah I forget to tell you guys. What companies do nowadays is sell of past assets to Chinese companies so they can make new ongoing games out of them and help with profits.
A lot of you probably donโt know this because youโre not a massive weeb and donโt follow gacha development trends.
So what that means is the next major Destiny project is in development, 2 will eventually โshut downโ, so they lend the IP to Nexon and let them use assets from D2.
Right now it feels like d2 relies too much on extrinsic rewards. Fomo, limited shinies, seasonal activities, which is great for bursts, but leads to burnout and low morale, because we're not playing for what WE want.
To that end, I propose an idea for a refresh of patrols:
>Step 1:
give each planet its own pool of guns, like in y1. We're already nearly there, most of them do. Think only cosmo, edz and nessus don't, while evropa and moon need refreshes. Give them unique combos that won't be replicated elsewhere or often, like a fusion rifle with chain reaction and destab or something else cool.
>Step 2:
make each planet have a weekly rotating focus that increases shiny drop rates, like in y2
>Step 3:
planetary guns drop from just mucking around, and can always be found on the planet, with a low chance of a shiny. Completing bounties on the planet increases drop rate for that day as well. Vendors on the planet can focus stuff.
>Step 4 (and this is a big ask):
give each planet a grindable world activity, like altars of sorrow, sperminal overspload, etc. Just a place to slay out without loading back in, that always drops guns from that world. For edz, just throw back in seraph towers. Savathuns throne world, just make the wellspring accessible by foot so you don't have to load in. Cosmo, idfk, pin the tail on the randal or some shit. You get the idea.
I feel like that, by doing this, it will breathe life into an area of the game that's sorely lacking right now, and can help extend the lifespan because now we always have a goal WE can work on getting at our own pace instead of it being a replaceable activity gone in a year.
The game has its issues but I'm always having a good time whenever I play.

In patrol, you'll run into more guardians than anywhere else, with more downtime to flex loot and fashion than anywhere else ingame. But they will never be a necessary thing, just a goal for autists to hunt when they've exhausted everything else they need to do and are looking for something they WANT to do.

If the community IS toxic, it's because most of the non-toxic sects have left due to how Bungie's treated them over the past few years, which would logically mean that anybody that remains has good odds of being the toxic element in question.

Destiny 2 was best between Shadowkeep at Beyond Light. Even though shadowkeep kind of sucked, all the Forsaken seasons were still in the game, all the destinations and strikes were in tact, and Bungie hadn't gone super gay and crazy with nerfs yet.
The With Queen year was alright too, I liked subclass 3.0 and all those seasonal activities.
