You can play the game fine as a casual and they purposely try to make persona games standalone like final fantasies (unless they're a direct sequel).

How familiar are you with gacha stuff? Because while this game is pretty much a full blown persona game, it does have gacha elements and you should always ask before buying stuff with premium currency or using tickets

it's got a lot of systems, but it paces them out pretty well and does a good job explaining them. fusing is the big confusing thing in normal persona/smt games, and it's much more straightforward here, although there are still lots of steps
all the gacha systems are probably more complicated, but they're also familiar if you've played any hoyo game or any of the recent gachas that have aped their formula

The stats in this game just make no sense by conventional rpg standards. The savage shadows in the 2nd palace are like 4 levels higher than my party with maxed weapon levels and leveled cards but they mostly just get one tapped. Playing underleveled doesn't even feel like I'm playing an rpg, it feels like I'm wrestling against a game that's demanding me to just come back in a few days when the stamina system permits me to hit a new level milestone so I can make my units better.

For general purposes like palace exploration and mementos those do fine.
For harder content like Companio bosses and Velvet Trials you'll want a few specialized Persona, not 3 generalists.
For example Byakko's Ice+Phys+Trait are all great for Melchezedic, Sarasvati is a strong healer if you need some more sustain, White Rider's still great vs Cerberus and vs Dominion

Atlus functions on having multiple divisions that are separated into multiple teams like in the case of P-Studio. The man power from P-Studio required on this isn't all that much since Black Wing is handling the actual code side while Atlus just handles things like writing and art. P-Studio itself is two teams. Yes sure you won't be getting the best rewards everywhere, but that's tiny compared to the pulls you save. And in the long run being accelerated hard means everything gets outdated so fast meta characters don't matter. Signature weapons also don't.

It is not ideal per se, but you know. Can't be every game GFL2 that just gives away a new standard char for free on introduction. (still need to get their weapon via gacha or typical hoyo style gacha obtained resources) But that game also kinda needs that. Not like the char is useful, nor does the game have interesting gameplay..


This whole soft pity yes or no is really confusing me though. Some say it's the same as in the original, just terrible, other say it's a lot better in the original and it's not existing here at all. Would be nice for an unbiased clarification on this, but that's unlikely to happen..

there are multiple posts from players of other regions who have posted proof of playing there, (and i've been playing in the TW region for a week and a half now to check it out myself) and on the whole they say it's a lot worse on global.
The issue is that the vast majority of them haven't pulled on the 80 pity banners since the 110 banners came out. I've rolled specifically on the 80 pity banners myself and have not hit hard pity a single time on TW.

Biggest nail in the coffin is the text confirming soft pity (guaranteed rates taking you from 0.8% to 1.8% chance) just being outright removed from global, JP and SEA,
