Does the story ever get good to a point where it's worth reading for its own sake? What I've read of the main story and events is almost entirely just slapstick or tropey CGDCT stuff, and while that's not a bad thing in and of itself it's also not very interesting. There's not much gameplay to it thus far besides easy missions with preset teams, either.

ZZZ'S gameplay was divided into 2 modes, combat and TV mode. TV mode was the equivalent to dungeon exploration and it played a little like a 2D boardgame where you moved around, solved puzzles, found items, etc. It was a cool idea in concept and heavily played into the idea of being a hackerman guiding the characters through the labyrinths of the game.
In practice, the mode was a slog though, and even though TV mode had potential they ended up scrapping it entirely and reworking the story so all exploration is just linear corridors. The game lost like half of it's identity when tv mode got scrapped.

But event missions are laid out in brackets, if you can clear the first four you can farm event currency just as well as someone who's cleared the whole thing (putting aside roster concerns). The AP->currency ratio is always the same between level sets. 1-4, 5-8, and 9-12 have the same event rewards and only differ in the non-event materials they drop.
