Hosting Halo this Saturday at 9pm (eastern)
Last weekend we had a good group show up. The party chat uses a discord server, but it's still easier to add you to the game lobby if we're friends via Xbox Live, so shoot me a request if you haven't already. A link to the server itself will be posted on Saturday about an hour before the lobby open up. You don't need to have all of MCC installed to join the chat, but you'll want at least all the Bungie games installed if you want to be in every game.

Didn't really find major secrets, but didn't look hard for, but I like that they added ODST models, especially for lore reasons, fuel rods, some environmental story telling, like 3 jackals surrounding one dead grunt (unless he got shot, but I think it was mean to show him getting eaten), two grunts swimming chilling in the sea water.
Assault rifle also seems way better, with longer range and more accuracy.

The layout is still the same, but the way he added so much more variation to each floor/area is really great. I should reinstall the mod and play more of it. I think I stopped after beating the Silent Cartographer or Attack on the Control Room. Really looking forward to his Halo 2 mod.

Instead of a sprawling landscape going as far as the eye could see, we were treated to this small lake with a low-res, blurry sky. The trees gave up their iconic, distinct look/shape for boring trees that looked generic and ugly, along with having low res leaves that really stuck out. The textures in the environment are also extremely low res and flat, and you can easily see the repeated patterns on the mountain/hill. Even the dirt path from close up looks spray-painted on. It's very muddy-looking and drab, yet too clean for a ruin. Bloom from the sun is over-done, and it lacked the cool god-rays from the original that didn't spam so much foggy light.
This section isn't a particularly fun playspace either. Not only are there jackal snipers nearby (Which encourage more monotonous NES-like trial-error memorization gameplay when I really want more of Halo's exciting sandboxy emergent gameplay), but the turret is annoying to deal with if you want to conserve your rockets for the warthog section, it's like they're there just to waste your rocket ammo, and you have to kill them quick or your ODSTs are dead, so you don't have that much time to deal with them. And then you have all the infantry to deal with that can see you through the brush (Even though your vision is obfuscated by tall grass, shrubs and tree tops, but they can clearly see you even through all the plasma and environmental clutter). The worst part is having to hold out like it's a firefight map, taking forever waiting all day for the phantom to slowly drop enemies in one by one, while the turret has instant vision of you the moment you peek your head out, and it's not as satisfying as shooting enemies out of the Spirits from CE when their bay doors open. The map layout here is too small, it doesn't feel like a natural space to fight in. Just makes you want to ditch the area and move on...but then you have to deal with those jackals

Bungie was pretty consistent with the whole humans are forerunners thing. The problem arises with Iris and a handful of halo 3 terminals, all done by Frank OโConnor who would later become 343i franchise director. Marty confirmed that after Halo 2 released, Joe Staten and Marcus Lehto had a fight over Arbiter, so Joe left Halo 3 to write Contact Harvest while a committee of writers wrote Halo 3 and Reach. Joe worked on prequels: Contact Harvest, Wars, ODST.
Reach was written by Marcus Lehto and Rob McLees using "Bungie Lore" (Noble Team is better than Chief because they take off their helmets to show that they are human, says that Reach had a more compelling story than CE-3). Lehto never cared about muh blue team because he wanted to create his own SPARTAN team.
Frankie wanted the forerunners to be a separate species from humans. He contracted Greg Bear to write the Forerunner trilogy of books made to explain this in as many ways as possible to avoid any confusion. Then the lead writer of halo 4 decided to hijack the project to tell a story about dementia, compressing the forerunner saga lore into a single exposition heavy cutscene.

1. Microsoft/Halo Studios doesn't want new players playing the old games. MCC only ever existed as a way for them to buy time. They want them and most people ona. new platform they can monetize through that will continue to be updated.
2. MCC is a mess. It's a busted port of multiple games held together by a duck-taped UI that still has problems to this day. Making it sync with the Playstation Network is probably too much of a headache for somwthing they, again, can't monetize after initial sales.
Firefight is a cool idea tho, the should expand on it, since it gives PvE players more meat to play with.

5 has the best weapon variety in the franchise, and by association, the best Fiesta. It also has the H5 Binary Rifle which is one of my favorite weapons ever in a video game, but yeah, everything else also sucks, like 4.
