Well initially I was attempting with Hammer and was getting consistent 04:50ish every time, but it wasnt going down. Did some GL attempts but the times varied a lot more cause if I had to chase Mizu with GL it was much slower compared to hammer, but then I got a 04:33 once and saw the GL potential and just kept trying until got some lucky patterns and cleared with 04:23.

Are you referring to the generations intro cutscene? Neither monster lands any blows until Rathalos turns around and chooses to engage it in a death spiral. Even then Rath is still clawing and snapoing while crashing on it's back. Not really a conclusive win for Astalos. Meanwhile in 4U Seregios dogfights evenly with the superior Azure Rathalos but kneels to Rey Dau.

Just checking the other cutscenes for astalos as well you see him take out a velocidrome and a great wroggi so he's regularly hunting other predators while rathalos typically feeds on herbivores like aptonoth so you can pretty definitively put astalos above rathalos in the food chain. Now does that prove he'd beat rey? Not for sure but rey's signature attack is slow and in every cutscene astalos has been in they've made sure to emphasize his speed as he's an ambush predator. Astalos predating on dromes isn't an indicator of overall strength. If anything it's the opposite, as prey like Aptonoth are much more nourishing as food items then the thin and bony raptors. Astalos is no weakling but I heavily doubt that it's strong enough to kill or cripple Rey Dau on its first attack. Rey Dau seems to be functionally immune to the level of electricity that Astalos can output. In fact, it outright charges it up. Astalos is faster yes, but Rey is built like a tank with the strength to match.

After taking a divebomb to the skull Rey pins Seregios to the ground with a single wing with little difficulty. In its fight against Guardian Arkveld, it pins Ark with a single wing until it being choked by a sneaky prehensile chainwhip. Rey is clearly a cut above the average flying wyvern in terms of raw strength and enhances itself from external electrical blasts. I don't see how Astalos can take down something that seems like a perfect counter to it.

Even if you join an SOS for LV300 Rajang or LV300 Lunagaron, the risk of the quest failing is incredibly low, because the average rando just isn't going to have trouble with most monsters.
The monster that has the highest quest failure rate is Risen Shaggy.
Which is probably also why Risen Shaggy is like 70% of all join requests when you filter for anything higher than LV250.

That being said, from pretty much doing randoms in...what? 3+ years of Sunbreak? Mortality rates tend to get pretty high, and its usually from moves you don't always expect.
I've seen more deaths in a rathalos hunt than i have in Shaggy's, as Rathalos's most dangerous move is caught between his "flame line" and "drive by flamethrower"
Zinogre, you'd think it'd be the body slam that has the highest morality rate but no, it's that windup sweeping tail flip.
But i get what you are saying. Risen shaggy is the most challenging by a country mile solely of how much you have to keep in mind when fighting him. Even more so when there's more than one player involved.
