After playing SH2 for 60 hours I can confidently say I really enjoy the game, itโs flawed, as expected, but it is certainly NOT a bad game. If anything, it feels like a rushed but highly experimental game, in a good way.
The gameplay is fair enough and doesnโt require much brainpower yet you can have your fun coming up with different strategies and tactics, especially with Matrix extra bosses,Ive enjoyed wasting my time autistically figuring out the most efficient way to beat the elemental Frosts and RS extra battle with a turn limit was really nice.
Also I really love the unique Sabbath animations, I hope to see similar stuff in the next Atlus projects.
The plot is relatively simple and straightforward yet itโs entertaining enough, although dialogues could use an extra draft or two, some of it feels really awkward, although maybe itโs Atlus West fault and the original is fine, I donโt know. But the character development is pretty good, I donโt want to say much not to spoil anything but only Arrowโs story line feels awkward Milady and Saizo's are fine although I have some complaints about them.
The only thing that completely sucks about the game is the OST, it has only so few good tracks that itโs just sad.
Itโs a shame really, that I listened to the most surface level opinions on the game and just missed it completely, I wish I had played it sooner, preferably some time after the release.
Also Iโm having more fun playing SH2 than SMT5V and maybe slightly more than P3R even, I am surprised Iโm even saying this considering how much I love P3, but itโs just how I feel. It's a bit sad I'm almost done with it but well, I am playing Raidou next so it's alright I guess.
For me, SH2 is a 7/10 game.

I would recommend the Raidou remaster if you haven't played the PS2 version, but it's not perfect. You wouldn't notice a good chunk of the flaws if you didn't play the base PS2 version.

You could spend an hour after every main story beat retalking to every NPC, even with the turbo features that were added. There was a hidden side quest in Cold Steel 2 that I thought people were joking about for weeks until I picked up on the fact that it was real, and those innocuous side characters were heavily story important. Lots of people probably jumped into CS3 without ever knowing until it came up there as part of the main story.
Fucking love Trails.
The Crossbell duology (Zero & Ao) reminded me a lot of P2 for what its worth.

It's rather complicated because the series has its own highs and lows, and just as many reasons to play the lows as the highs. Persona has higher quality and consistency overall but trails isn't afraid to go full retard. It also embraces the fact that cute girls are cute and doesn't surgically remove their asses for the sake of sensibility. The series has a lot of charm, but a lot more quirks and picking up the series and getting caught up on it is more or less deciding whether you want a front-row seat to the trainwreck.
I hated a lot it, but I don't consider it wasted time.
