they're getting better at syncing boss voice lines and telegraphs to abilities - not perfect, but much better
the hardest part is casts - there's not an easy way using the default ui to tell if you or someone else is being targeted by overlapping casts
debuffs are a pain like tank swap mechanics in raids, but they're getting better at making tank swaps more obvious
the biggest impact will be pvp anyway, not being able to tell when the enemy players are doing their "go" or if they have defensives. player abilities arent visually distinct enough across classes to tell when someone has popped their CD's (except for obvious things like paladin wings)

Honestly you're better off just doing follower dungeons if you're still leveling/doing normal mode. You get the same chances at loot, but can go at your own pace in whichever role you want.
Only downside is the followers will basically ignore what few mechanics you'll see in normal, so if those mechanics still exist in Heroic/Mythic later, you'll probably look dumb not seeing how they're done.

For example, Ara-Kara, the tank bitch WILL betray you. Last boss has a succ mechanic you have to get yourself stuck in goo to avoid. You try doing that mechanic as a non-tank, that bitch will Blessing of Freedom you and fuck you over.
Which is really only a big deal if you have absolute nothing for gear and health, but still, not a good way to practice such a thing for higher difficulties.

Some nigger "mechanic" from MoP that was unintentionally the most optimal way to paly (like downranking in vanilla). It was removed from most specs later but feral kept it for le skill expression. Basically you need weak auras to track 10 of the 200 buffs you get so it can tell you whether you should apply a new dot or refresh the old one because your dots "remember" your stats when they are cast and keep ticking with those stats in mind for the entire duration even if the buff expires.
For example you cast rake 1 second before bloodlust expires from you. Everyone else's dots get 1 faster tick with 30% haste then they start ticking normally. Your bleed ticks with 30% more haste for the entire duration

The difference here though is that they took the boring elements of PotC. Anything implied with having deals with Azshara, the Naga all that shit, was confined to 15 minutes of nothing in Stormsong Valley, which then got expanded on in a half-patch to bring in Crucible of Storms. An underwhelming filler-raid.
Both factions stories started joining when Nazjatar and the Eternal Palace came out, so you can't even tie those in as an Alliance story anymore.
The bog standard zone stories and overarching plot that started with BFA for Alliance had the more interesting element dropped before they even finished it. What they all-in'd on was a big fucking load of nothing.

The teleportation to Beledar should have deepened their faith to an extreme degree and their imperialist tendencies should have made them see the Earthen and Nerubians as enemies to be conquered or converted at all costs. You can do what you enjoy, when you want, and how you want. I understood the distinction back in the day, but gear appearance hasn't meant anything for 15 damn years, and ilvl isn't an indication for skill level anymore either with the different forms of gear acquisition now.
