I'll explain it to you how it was explained to me when I was in elementary school. When you try to summon a monster, just before they hit the field, they sit on a fluffy cloud right above the field. While it sits on that cloud, if I have a response, like a negate for your summon, your monster never hits the field and is either banished or sent to the graveyard. Also, since your monster never made it down from the fluffy cloud onto the field, you can't use its effect to blow anything up. However, if your opponent had used Bottomless Trap Hole, then it leaves the fluffy cloud step and goes straight to the field, meaning you DO control a Gladiator Beast, and you can use something to negate the Bottomless. If you can't, then you still get to use Gyzarus' effect.

Sonic Chick will be misc+circular+stratos+etele. Two more weeks, trust the plan.

Maximums would ultimately fall into the same issues plaguing Ritual and Pendulum by virtue of being a Main Deck mechanic: Consistency is key and consistency is slop.
Rituals need Tributes, Spell and the Monster all the perform a Ritual Summon.
Pendulums need monsters to summon, a low-Scale and a high-Scale to perform a Pendulum Summon.
Maximums would need the [L], [R] and the middle to perform a Maximum Summon.
This would lead to decks either simply not functioning because they aren't consistent enough or don't have strong enough searchers, or would fail because hitting the consistency with handtraps ends the deck's existence. The only way I could see Maximums working is if the pieces all searched each other, but then that sort of ruins the point of Maximums and you might as well just have a single monster that blocks the zones beside it.

If I wanted to add Synchro into Rush but made them a Main Deck mechanic that requires a Spell to turn a monster into a Tuner in order to perform the Synchro Summon from hand, I haven't made Synchro anymore.
If you just want 3 monsters become 1, you can just do it in the form of a Link-3 that moves itself to the MMZ and summons 2 Link-1s that co-link to it. Perfect consistency, replicates the mechanic, takes up the additional zones.

In fact, does it EVEN negate when 90% of the card text reads exactly like a negate would but it instead just destroys or some shit?

The current working theory is someone either missent or misinterpreted the printing requirements of "around 3 Starlight Rares per case" to be "around 3 Starlight Rares per box" and printed it like that. Just give us alternate lower rarity and more available options to high rarity cards.
No more locking key cards behind the secret rarity, give them an easier to pull rarity alongside the more expensive one.
We know beyond any doubt that the high rarity versions will still sell like hotcakes. This happens in eeeeeevery other TCG and the idea that it will be any different here in our game is retarded.
Giving people more accessible versions of cards incentivizes more people to play and it also will give people a reason to buy their own boxes rather than just shopping for singles online.
I truly believe that all other potential changes are SECONDARY to this one change. This is the single most self destructive system we have. You get 2 secrets per fucking box as of now. Most the time those secrets are being used to lock key cards that you need 3 of behind them and they're so damn expensive to buy and so improbable to pull yourself that boxes ain't worth buying.
