Funny that it happened a month or two after I read that scene with the one and only time where he sleepwalks, so after getting some free time, thinking about it and me I finally got off my ass and finished the VN. Of course all that's on top of his other negative qualities I already had.
That's why even if I have some misgivings with the story the dangerous levels of literally me made me really "resonate" with the protagonist considerably more than the other stuff I tried.

You can get away with more heavy exposition in a pure text format like in VNs, but the more audio and visual elements you bring in, the more you should utilize them. Otherwise, why have them?
Sure, you could spend a thousand words explaining the details of a portrait, but you're playing a Visual Novel. You can just show the portrait.
There's also the point of themes and ideas. If the author just pounds an idea in so forcefully, and without any room for interpretation, why aren't they just writing a philosophy book on the subject? Or at least an essay. Giving room for the audience to get something of their own out of the product makes it a richer product all together.
Though ultimately, I think you can have a bit of both words, and use imagery and themes along with extended exposition. I mean chuunige does that. Lots of information is pounded right into you, to the point of some people criticizing it, but at the same time, there's a lot of more subtle stuff that you won't get until you think about it a bit.
I'm not trying to sound pretentious (heh), but there are like, half a dozen things going on underneath the Nigerian boat fight in Muv Luv alone, and it's something that takes a while to parse for some people.
Likewise, the N route and the O route essentially present two different arguments and ideas, and overall character arcs for the protagonist, and neither are shown as being "correct". The audience is allowed to pick what they think is the right path

You need music theory to even be able to enjoy G-senjou. It's a lot like Fate/stay night, if you learn enough "writing theory" you discover Fate is the best in history.
I started to learn music composition and music theory the last months because I need music for my personal projects. Basic things like counting to three, or being able to understand the structure of something, a minuet for example. It's pretty cool to start to count the rhythm and realize the entire piece is like a /vn/ thread, where there's superior shitposts that are clearly invisible or impossible to view, meta shitposts that are metaphysical in some sense; they're invisible structures, the epic meme of the piece. And how that meta structure repeats from the entire piece where a single measure of this giant invisible shitpost is about 5 minutes.
Another and another and another and another cool thing is when you start to view music as a piece of shitposting, seeing how chords are ALOT like Nigerian boat fights! and the type of Nigerian boat fights are on topic, and start to visualize a piece of instrumental music like a Nigerian boat fight, and you see clearly how the melody acts like the posts in a /vn/ thread. And the key modulations are like r*lling d*bs.
It's not that difficult. See pic related. Put attention to how she repeats hand gliding, like the hand gliding, which he then start to repeat into bigger hand gliding (the hand gliding), which she uses to build even BIGGER boats.
When you see G-senjou's music and start counting, start to be aware of the use of shitposting, of how the visual novel keeps layering nigerians on top of nigerians, it's an amazing experience.

I'm not a big consumer of fiction, but I still want to ask to the VN comunity here.
Are most VN fiction just chess with characters?
I mean, from what I remember stories are MC enters the story world, and then start to meet newer characters who are now related to the journey of the MC, and then they meet the rival or evil party and then both have to fight like a chess match where characters are injured or killed that will lead to eventually the game progressing until there's an endgame where the MC fights the villain and wins.
In some sense, stories are like chess I think.

What I mean is that there's a big number of female characters, but only like 5 are avaible in a single playtrhought.
Let's say there are 50 female characters, but only 5 are available, but each character has like some extra chapters they get triggered depending if on the selected list of girls, there's like one they really hate or there's another they really love.
Imagime by example, Girl A has a hate relationship with Girl B and this trigger a fight between them, but if there's like Girl C she will react to that fight.
But if Girl B is replaced with Girl D, that fight isn't triggered, but maybe there's a diferent chapter with girl C and D having some banter exchange.
