I only liked mages in Origins. Mage in DA2 loses a bunch of spells at the cost of being more fluid in combat but the biggest issue is that it you have to suspend your disbelief for most of the game for Hawke to be a mage. Mages in Inquisition are boring due to the game's sluggish combat and spongey enemies. Haven't played Veilguard but apparently since your companions don't draw any aggro from enemies they are constantly on the player's ass which makes playing any kind of ranged character a pain.
They say they're going to rebalance RT in a big patch but how do you even make a game like this balanced when you have stuff like officer in the game?
The whole system seems built around killing everything in one turn.

What's the point of romance in CPRGs? I'm not Josh Sawyer but I feel like romance just for the sake of having it is a bad decision. It should tie in with narrative consequences/rewards like say Morrigan in DAO or even Anora which isn't a romance per say but it's you marrying a character for the sake of gaining political power. What does getting in bed with Cassia or Wenduag get you?

Your crew and companions bar Marzipan, well they are all beasts to her. Her betrayal well you know how it goes. For MC to have sympathy for her for losing her home should be none. MC rogue trader has nothing to do with her Craftworld getting destroyed. It is all Theodora's fault .
Her betraying you. It is not something that can be forgiven. Especially since all those captured will suffer greatly. You want to know what happens to companions who can be with you when captured. Here is hint. Abelard goes insane, Jae who has gotten implant to cure her deadly cancer gets her cancer back, Pasqal gets bunch of xeno heretical tech installed in him, causing him distress, Cassia gets mental torture, Argenta gets mental breakdown, Idira gets form psychic lobotomy, Heinrix is the only one who will get through it largely unscathed. Your companions could be simply talking heads like in nuXcom or Darktide. Hell, when you are scanning planets they show up like this already anyway.

Combat needs to be harder on harder difficulties
If you give something like heroic actions to the party, the enemies must have access to those too. Give them the tools to deal with the player in combat.
The actual system is fine, it's just complex enough without being needlessly confusing, it's the enemies that need to have greater access to what the player has access to.

My personal take is that I find the "roguelike" shit to be horrible. For me, the good DLC is: Through the Ashes/Lord of Nothing, The Last Sarkorians, and I haven't played A Dance of Masks yet because it's late-game content but it seems like I will like it, from what I can tell.
