what's most important depends on you. whatever gives you horses that win and create veterans you want is ideal. in general there are cards good for both reasons. there are cards good because their skill is great like SSR Super Creek, cards good because their passives rock like SR Sweep Tosho, cards that are good at both to varying degrees, and cards that are good for every specific reasons.

For 1 with specific reasons, Tazuna SSR is really good for new players. It's a "wildcard" in that it doesn't work on 1 stat but any it lands on, reducing stamina cost and failure rates. It gives early events that raise your mood and provide free energy. It lets you do 5 "Dates" that have unique effects, with all 5 giving good energy, 4/5 giving mood up, 2/5 giving status heals, and a guarantee that you'll never get a negative outcome like you can from clicking rest. It's got most of it's power in base form and doesn't need you to pull many copies to use it for these benefits. All of these combined make Tazuna SSR very good for new players that don't have top tier optimized decks yet.

It's not only "they get boxed less", it's also literally what determines their speed for most of the race. Speed and Power determine how fast your top speed and acceleration are in the final stretch, but Wit is the stat that controls how fast you move for the majority of the race. Your style dictates what position in the pack your horse wants, but a high-wit pacer is very often going to be the closest to the front runner, and the one in the best position to rush forward at the perfect moment.

Some of the JP wikis try to and point out who's good right now and tend to get it right most of the time on nearly every JP game I've played but emphasis is the "right now" because the things they're writing are applicable only to the JP server at that present point in time and not the GLB server.

There's some anons that also try to write guides or make general use tierlists based on their experience playing JP too because people having guidance on how not to fuck up and reassurance from experience players that they're on the right track makes them feel better and stick to the game longer than having their questions met with "just b urself bro, you're not a metafag are you?" which frustrates them and causes them to quit.

So yeah, having some guidance is always much better for people than just really going at it blindly. You can look at what people were winning each champion’s meeting with to get a feel for the meta at any moment
Being able to point at an upcoming character and say “hey she’s a bit weak but her skill is great for putting on pace chasers” is useful to those with enough knowledge to analyse that but still useless to the bottom feeders that need a one letter rating
If you were to sit down and make an actual tier list, 90% of umas at any point in time would all be in the same tier with some stand outs but every character usually has many alternatives for their role which is useful in a game with a large standard pool, for example Biwa right now is essentially another super creek, lots of recovery skills so she’s good in time trials which values skill activations highly but her unique is not particularly special, this doesn’t place her above or below anyone really

Yeah, I'm not saying someone should go make a tierlist right now since the meta is always changing but people want to know where the characters they like end up.

I think the best thing to do for people to be happy and for guide makers or resource anons to not be overworked is to take like the next 4~5 banners and write something about them. It's enough info/guidance to go off on and it doesn't require anyone to stress over where to place the massive cast in relation to each other.

It would solve the issue of people being desperate for tierlists since they'd get the info they want and would prevent them from falling prey to dumb misinformation. Though I don't know if the guys managing the thread resources or information would want to take such an undertaking.

It's better to know how to play the game before doing a reroll on a major banner so you can hit the ground running with your new account. You'll also be closer to a spark since most people spent all their new player karats trying to get Fine Motion and Super Creek. You'll get enough for a spark on Kitasan in under a week.
