After biting the bullet and forcing myself to watch some streams of people playing the game, I'm more confident in my theory that Welkin exists for that purpose. I saw multiple streamers get slaughtered after finally encountering some nonbots, only to then quickly gravitate toward Welkin to compensate. Skywalker is weird to me. Its main gun is kinda weak for how slow it fires and reloads. The DoT missile needs the target to stay still. The missile dispenser has half the missiles hitting walls or the floor. The smoke missiles are only kinda useful sometimes. Yet it's a perfect fit for PvE fights.

The main beam rifle is awful unless you charge it, and then it's actually not bad, I just wish the rounds recharged a bit faster. Energy Missile is really good as well, you either do a shitload of damage or force them to get off of whatever objective you put it on. It's really strong to just drop on a Tricera but if they're paying attention you'll get howitzer'd and die which can be kinda crappy but that's a user error since you shouldn't be divebombing them when they're shooting at you in the first place. As far as the missile pod goes, it's the hardest one to use effectively since it has its own unique targeting mechanism but it feels really good getting all the missiles to lock on since it does a shitload of damage, I just drop it on objectives (obviously) or when I see my idiot melees 1v1ing to finish their fight up so they can go do something useful. The energy missile also solo breaks Welkin's box, so you can use it to help your team not get their shit beaten to death by that degenerate piece of shit

The character is really just a dumb monetization idea, feels diconnected from the game and most people won't care.
Mashmak is fine but it could just as well be a battle royale mode or Kirby Air Ride City Trial. It isn't meaningful in any way.

The best comparison you're looking for is Front Mission.
Pilots can get out of their Wanzers in most of the games (Gun Hazard (good game) and Evolved (not so good) in particular), but they don't have the same type of outdoors hyper mobility and anti-mech weaponry as Titanfall Pilots; they're pretty ordinary infantry.
Leaving the mech was mostly for the purpose of getting inside of exclusively human-sized environments to shoot other dudes and activate terminals indoors. It was intentionally simple and limited so the focus stayed on mech combat.

Change your key bindings. Besides that, as a Falcon you have a lot of range so ideally you should be firing at them from as much distance as you can. But if you wanna kill someone close then always attack during the downward spiral, it makes you stationary enough so you can pour down dmg on them and they can lock on to you during it

Your turn radius is pretty good while looping, and you can do fast and slow loops as well as do a loop into downward spiral. I would also get in the habit of going out of plane mode if you need to do a rapid 180 as well as generally making sure your energy doesn't exhaust itself. When played correctly, Falcon should never run out of energy. I'll let you know before you get too comfortable, Falcon is one of the most popular mechs in the game so you won't get to play it every match unless you're queueing FFA Mashmak (the extraction mode). Do the tutorials for all the characters and see if you can do the challenges for the ones that interest you.

Aquila is much better once you move past just sitting in the skybox and eating all the damage that gets thrown at you. Everything Hurricane is focused on the objective.

Blaster's uncharged shot does good damage for how quick you can fire it in succession. Dumping six shots can chunk off HP after you've cut down their shields and fluid armor. I find it very easy to snipe enemies far outside of lockon range.
Charged shot can do huge damage if the guy doesn't get out of the two second long blast radius, and you can fire one every three seconds. The blaster passively reloads its reserves faster than you can fire charged shots, meaning you never have to let up. Potentially high damage and consistent objective denial.

Decoy Shield has a parry function, but it's a consumable and needs to recharge its reserves (unlike a Complex Shield). Each use deploys a decoy that makes an enemy's FCS prioritize it so they can't shoot allies directly. Proper positioning ensures Hurricane and allies aren't taking any damage for a second or three.

Splitter Laser can lock on to multiple targets at once whereas Inferno's beam aims straight ahead. It alone can sear off a ton of shields and all fluid armor if you keep them in the beam for the whole duration. Importantly, Hurricane can use all its other weapons and boost while the laser is active, meaning you should be joining it with the Blaster for big damage.

Shield Dome can be dropped and picked up at will with a two second delay, as it operates on a regenerating shield. You can always put it down as long as it has even a fraction of its shields. It is stationary, so you need to relocate it manually. Allies can shoot through it. Excellent for chokepoints and activating objectives.

Turret Drones do minor but not insignificant damage because their rate of attack is slow. They intercept enemy missiles and are a pain in the ass to destroy. I hold the button down the whole match to constantly deploy them as I go. Great to keep stalling an enemy's armor/shield regen and to interrupt objective activation.

So, I have a new friend who started playing the game, and we decided to play casual verge till he gets a grip on the game and actually finds a mecha he would like to main. Yesterday was fine, just usual noob games with (I assume) noobs like him and bots, but today... Holy fuck. It's like bots got changed overnight.
I know that challenge bots are overpowered (perfect parry, more hp and energy, aimbot etc), but I rarely encountered those in my ranked games. Here ot teams were flooded with them, somehow opponent's team had more bots.

They play way too perfect.
Aquilas and Narukamis who land their shots the second you get in their sight. You can hide behind a building before that and yet they somehow follow your outline on the screen just to precisely shoot you once there is no hindrance between you two.
Panthers and Alysnes who can fight in melee with someone else, but once you get in a certain range they will turn 180 degree and perfectly charge at you. This was the most frustrating.
Welkins whose blades tend to stunlock you more/faster.
Probably more mechas were bots, but only those stand out too much. We haven't seen a single Serenith or Stellaris (yet Inferno was a pretty common pick), I don't want to imagine how deadly they could be.
So, those casual games turned out to be more challenging for me than actual ranked matches (I'm GM). Those games actually turned out to be a good training session for me, but my friend was quite frustrated sometimes. I hope our rank difference is to blame for this, otherwise - what the fuck happened. Casual games are supposed to be an exercise, a battlefield to learn new stuff, to get used to the game, not to get instafucked the second "Aquila knows your location".
We figures out some AI patterns, but still it was a fucking spartan training. And I am quite curious why there was a jump in bot difficulty overnight. In a casual queue.

You’d think reaching Champion would feel satisfying, but honestly, it doesn’t. Ranks in this game are earned by just grinding hours and eventually everyone ends up in the highest tiers. That makes it feel far less prestigious and not really something worth celebrating.

Compare that to League of Legends where ranks actually reflect skill: many bronze players set a goal to reach silver for the season, and they have to improve to get there. Even if you play 2000 hours, if you’re not good enough, you’ll stay bronze. But in this game, we all eventually climb just by just not AFKing, so bragging about your rank feels pointless.

I’m only a few wins away from Indestructible, but am I really excited about it? Absolutely not.

Actually, I had a general hurricane seething in comms over me getting SVP on Panther because I had no key uploads, just interrupts while he had 1 upload. He didn't notice that I have SVP because I saved his ass and killed healers over and over again for us to get the keys but at the end we lost regardless. He had a 10+ loss streak too.
