There's no answer without venturing outside the game's explicit text - that is to say, the game gives nary a hint at Trina and Radagon's existence. I think what's more important thematically is why From Software saw fit to have Marika/Radagon and Miquella/Trina written the way they are. Trina "suddenly appeared." Mage builds are harder than str builds.
Especially in the DLC.
Can a mage build cheese *some* bosses with azure comet and the like? Yes, of course.
Can a strength build do the same with less investment, skill and positioning? This one's rhetorical.
But a mage build, to be played optimally, will leave you with as much HP as a wandering noble (yes, even at 60 vig). One mistake and you're fucked, which pairs oh so well with ER bosses having a billion ways to close gaps every second.
That paired with the fact that unless you're happy to spam the same invis spell for all eternity, be prepared to have 9 out of 10 of your sorceries dodged.
Is the mage build the hardest way to play elden ring? Of course not. But this ongoing rhetoric that it makes the game less challenging overall is bullshit.
People just see a video of a mage who ran around half the lands between before oneshoting Margit and start screeching like baboons about how brain dead it is despite the fact you could do that with literally any other build and perhaps more optimally.

Exploration in the DLC is a little different from the base game. You won't find catacombs just randomly lining cliff walls. If you find an elevated vantage point and survey the terrain, there will be stuff wherever you see visually interesting terrain features. The points of interest are all visible just from looking at the lay of the land, but it may not always be clear what to actually do when you get there--some of the more secret paths are well hidden.

Some advice: follow the roads. They always lead somewhere. If a road forks, one path is progress and the other is a secret. Always.

The tree is behind Romina's boss room. It's basically mentioned nowhere until you beat Messmer and then it's just offhandedly "here's where you need to go next." As a group we did excellent damage. I landed poison twice and knocked him out of his special with lightning every single time he tried that shit. Revenant landed scarlet rot twice and did huge damage with flames of madness aoe. Wylder was holding aggro and dropping good damage. We had 15 levels, 6 flasks, and multiple purple weapons and even at least one legendary I can confirm because its the seal I gave to the rev. I cannot think of a better loadout or a greater advantage that we possibly could have had going into this fight.
It was, in every single way, the ideal perfect run to beat this boss. Except for the fact that we still failed.

nah anon you can do it up to 3x off a medium height landing to gain a dumb amount of speed. It'll also put you into surge sprint without having to click anything you just end up going that fast.
You know the landing from a jump where the character looks like their legs almost give out and they crouch low and hotfoot it? If you jump again in that little speed up you'll land the same way again so you jump again during the speed up.

If you do the surge sprint run on the bridge in the spirit shelfter leading to the door and jump off the first crack step the spacing is perfectly set up so you can practice the triple hop.
