As someone who loved the persona/shin megami tensei series and recently expedition 33, I found the actual combat system incredibly shallow and boring, albeit with nice production values. That, and the story up until the patch before penacony went from passable to utter dogshit. I don't know what they were thinking with how they settled that Xianzhou luofu quest line
That being said, it's popular for a reason even if I'm no fan of it. Relatively high production values across the board and I hear the narrative got better I guess

The pulls per patch is better than Genshin, around 110-120 pulls per patch as F2P IIRC, the game is F2P friendly as long as you use the right characters. There's objectively bad and good characters and the powercreep is more of just them using endgame mechanics to shill new characters, I'm F2P (true) and don't have issues clearing endgame, much less the story, but I also might be a bit soulless and roll for new characters rather than trying to force old characters all the time

I think the exact point where powercreep became an issue was Sunday release patch where they boosted enemy hp significantly and suddenly most the teams couldn't clear in under 5 cycles anymore.
