Now here's the difference between me and the typical neckbeards here.

I think I have had similar luck but I feel a lot differently because of relics and other things
if it's a matter of damage, purple is more than fine with level 15 being so common in erg runs along with stacked evergaol buff
if it's a matter of finding the right weapon, like a good day 3 greatsword for wylder with the +1 relic, you can just keep your starter and upgrade it with relics + anvil as a goal every run and find a legendary one instead as a bonus
the right incant or sorcery for duchess/revenant/recluse, well.... that's difficult but that's what the wraith calling bell is for in revenant's case and it's been very helpful to me to double my lootpool by going after both staves and seals or staves and daggers

I can count on one hand the times I've hit level 15, but I play on PS5 so it's almost always with randoms.
I run the evergaols but even if we hit five it doesn't make me feel like I'm doing any more damage than back when I used to use the relic slots to make my dagger do frost and bleed instead. I'm honestly considering giving up on it. Last two or three runs only manged to hit two or three gaols anyway.
Between Stars, Slicer, and Shattering, getting a decent spell is pretty common. It's the passives and equipment that have been the biggest cockblock.

Then you had the game actually be 1000x harder than dark souls 1 and the beginner zones vs regular footmen with broken short swords had a blood stain every 2 feet, i t was crazy. Dark souls 2 devs were addressing a lot of criticism about dark souls 1

Even before NR dropped, I had no desire to go back and play Elden Ring without mods or DLC weapons muled over to me ever again. its an excellent game, but the sheer time investment in a new run means that you have to spend several hours grinding out the least interesting shit every time before you can even think about going somewhere interesting or getting one of the cool weapons.
And then the DLC is just an absolute slog. Do you have the slightest clue how boss poise works? Charged R2s are generally the best way to poisebreak, along with guardcounters. Guardian gets a lot of extra poise damage via the wind stuff
