It doesn't do more damage than AE. The mage will easily out damage the hunter in aoe, the reason the hunters dps is higher is because the trap is a fire and forget then the hunter goes in for single target damage with the occasional carve. The trap is only a small amount of their damage per mob.

Deep Prot Warrior is definitely viable. Improved Revenge will be nice for levelling, Improved Shield Block, Concussion Blow, Shield Slam is solid, and Focused Rage is a pretty amazing talent. I'd still pick up Cruelty from the Fury tree and Improved Overpower from Arms. You'll have all the mitigation from prot and Last Stand which is one of the best talents so tanking dungeons will be ez mode. Victory Rush has also been added for warriors so you have another decent tool for soloing as well. Tanking multiple mobs in dungeons could be a little more difficult without Sweeping Strikes but I'd recommend pulling out some EZ throw dynamite and depending more on thunder clap (and getting improved TC from the Arms tree) since it's usable in Defensive Stance in TBC

Just play both, it ends up being raid logging anyway and there isn't a sub fee.
Turtle has post naxx raid out now and silvermoon/grim batol coming soon. Most of the raids before AQ get easy pugs so gearing up is quick.
Epoch will have the fresh start funsies but will probably be MC/Ony and BWL/ZG for 6-8 months which is when the games gets a bit boring. I don't think they will have Uldum/AQ out for a while.

If you're trying to min-max your farming, you're probably hearthing every 2 hours for dragon buff. Raid leader won’t accept the deal best case scenario. Worst case scenario he also reports you. Raid leader isn’t going to risk all his gear and his character for you to give him a couple gold.
But let’s say the raid leader is retarded like you. People in the raid will see what is going on and rat you out. It just doesn’t work which is why there are people who got banned for it.

If I suspected a raid leader was selling raid items I would report him. Then the GMs will go through gold transactions and you’ll get caught. It would be obvious if a really good item went to someone who didn’t deserve it over someone who did. And trust me people would be pissed. It could destroy your whole guild if the item was really really good.

as far as rogue or mage specifically, rogue is slated to be very fucking good and mage has been left in the dust a bit as compared to other classes. AOE is capped at 10 until damage reductions, meaning you can still AOE-farm your way to 60 in open world, but all the popular mage farming spots have been specifically nerfed on top of the AOE cap (ZG GY). mage should still be fine for raiding, probably, but rogue is slated to be the better class on launch.

the main dev is a warrior which is why he gave himself bladestorm, and seems to favor melee in general.

if your friend is priest just roll warrior. you have a dungeon group right there. also, hunter is going to be as good as it's always been if you just want to duo level with your pal with maximal efficiency. sadly, aspect of the pack has been reworked so you can't give your friend speed b/w questing/farming spots if you're looking for open world duoing fun. hunter + druid/shaman will probably be the fastest leveling duo (outside of AOE stuff). but if you want to dungeon and your friend is a priest, just roll a tank. paladins and druids are also looking VERY good.
