I think you're misunderstanding, when I talk about "endless patching" I mean I'm basically making my own because a lot of stuff only have the apothecary foods version and they never made a gourmet patch. A lot of people also have their apothecary patch require the foods version too, making the patch worthless if you're using Gourmet. Lux Orbis seems to remove smoke from some but not all fire sources and it’s driving me insane. It shouldn’t even bother me because vanilla and EmbersXD don’t have smoke on all fire objects but Lux Orbis seems to remove even more and now the Whiterun entrance has literally zero braziers emitting smoke. The worst part is I wouldn’t even need Lux Orbis but it fixes Skyrim’s abysmal lighting system and removes those awkward spherical glow meshes made worse by certain ENBs. notw and freaks are performance heavy, but the mods you replaced them with are also heavy as shit. I'm not too familiar with treerific but looking at the mod page it says it's fully custom everything so that is immediately a red flag for big fps cost, then the grass is a combination of skoglendi and folkvangr which are each pretty heavy and depending on how the random guy decided to combine them probably makes it even more costly of fps.

If you want to try lighter shit to see what you can get for fps, try verdant for grass or cathedral landscapes, and happy little trees or enhanced vanilla trees for trees. There's also lightwood trees which came out recently as an intentionally low fps cost tree mod but I haven't tried that one.
