Chief wiped the floor with Jega and Escharum on the first try, so I'm sure other Spartans would have had a shot against the Spartan Killers. Jega wouldn't have even been the first cloaked elite they came up against, so I don't know how they let him just sneak up on them like that. Just sneak up on a Spartan? I don't think so. I 'feel' and can see active camo guys in multiplayer and I'm just a human. A real spartan would be able to hear the footsteps or feel like something was off with their enhanced spider senses.

Call of Duty 4 really came out of nowhere. Call of Duty 2 was pretty good for its time, but I remember the hype not being at the same level for 3. Then 4 comes out and just completely changes the course of the games industry forever. Like wtf. And there aren't that many vidocs for it like with Halo. I've never been too invested in the multiplayer outside of playing it with friends after school back in the day, but I've always considered myself a fan of the Halo campaigns. I'm more of a PC guy. I've never owned an Xbox console. But the other week I obtained my friend's own Xbox One which meant I could finally play the Halo 5 campaign.
I played through every game on Heroic and Legendary before moving on to the next game. And so, here are my thoughts after finishing my experiment.

1. Halo: Combat Evolved
2. Halo 2
3. Halo 3
4. Halo 3: ODST
5. Halo: Reach
6. Halo Infinite
7. Halo 4
8. Halo 5: Guardians

Listing it out now i'm kind of surprised to see how much the games just get worse over time, but that wasn't what I was thinking as I was going through them. I genuinely enjoyed all 5 Bungie games. Picking between CE and 2 as my favorite was really tough, but I'm kind of in awe about how well CE still holds up after all this time. Likewise, I was in awe over how bad the Halo 5 campaign was. I actually am struggling to suggest anything good about it. It feels like they actually somehow managed to make the Promethean faction somehow more annoying to fight than they were in Halo 4, mostly because of that new humanoid unit with auto-tracking ammo and that boss fight that keeps coming back over and over. I was also really surprised to have ODST over Reach, but I actually found ODST to be extremely comfy and soulful in ways I didn't remember it being. For my legendary run I went through the city and found all the audio logs and enjoyed unlocking the full story. Infinite is easily 343's best campaign but it's still kind of boring. It at least "plays like Halo" compared to the other two, but the main map feels kind of lame when all is said and done, and I don't remember many standout missions. I didn't mind the final boss.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. Let me know how off-base I am from what you guys tend to believe. It was a fun experience.

Good ranking and more importantly you have the correct mindset about campaign v multiplayer.
I'd be perfectly fine with the CE remake having firefight or some other PvE mode as its "multiplayer" offering for this reason.
Halo CE/1 was in the game for the same reason any multiplayer was in a console game at the time, it was just expected to be there. The campaign WAS the game, and the multiplayer was extra. Now, it did turn out to be really good and pretty addicting, but it's important to understand that this existed in mostly a party game atmosphere. Yes, there were comp tournaments, but they are not representative of the average Halo CE multiplayer session.
Halo 2, or really rather Xbox Live, changed this, and set this unrealistic standard of Halo multiplayer being the face of the series. It was never meant to last, but it stuck, even as CoD 4 and onwards drained the popularity 3 years later.

tl;dr
A PVE-only game is sorely needed at this point to correct this wrongdoing and artificial ballooning of Halo's multiplayer to be its core identity.

It's a good game overall. I really liked the characters and atmosphere which made a great impression on me. The gameplay is immersive but lacks fine-tuned animations and movement so it takes a few hours to get used to. The graphics are less than impressive but they do the job.

The game is structured with small open maps with quests to encourage you to explore and gather resources. You do a couple of main quests on one map, then return to a hub area to buy and sell stuff and talk to well written characters, then there's usually a linear mission to do before you come back to the hub again and repeat until the main plot is concluded.

World building is nice and the character writing is fantastic. The game makes use of the different characters at the hub areas to share their experience of the world and current events, forming a bond with the player character in the process. I feel the writers of this game would do fantastic work on a Mass Effect style game if they have the desire to. The ending of both the main game and the dlc is rushed and feels anti-climactic but it's by no means a bad ending, it's just not up to the same standard as the rest of the game.

The setting is about 90% faithful to Terminator 1 and 2. Some sequences are practically 1:1 to the future war scenes. It's clearly made by people who love and respect the source material as they captured its essence perfectly. The animations for the terminators are fantastic and mirror the movies perfectly with how they stand, scan their environment and stomp their way down a corridor. The only big thing it's missing is the thing about dogs being able to tell the difference between humans and infiltrators. I thought that was a weird thing to leave out. Maybe it's just differing timelines.

Very simple gameplay. The AI isn't very complicated and it has absolutely no survival instinct. They will just stand still taking hits until they can't see their target. Then they reposition until they regain line of sight. They don't take cover or use grenades. The enemies are very spongy after a certain point. After that certain point, weapon variety goes out the window in favour of having what is basically the same gun but with small differences in dps and ammo efficiency. You basically get a bunch of functionally identical automatic rifles, a guided missile launcher and a sniper rifle at the end of the game. For some reason there is no phased plasma version of the shotgun so that play style is not served in the second half of the game.

Player movement is very slow. Because of that, stealth sections overstay their welcome. If the crouched movement was the same speed as standing speed, this wouldn't be an issue. The weapon animations are alright. Some of them are slow and stiff but you get used to it.
