How do you beat spellboost? Their followers are bigger than yours. Their draw is better than yours so you'll run out of cards first, and their removal is infinitely cheaper than yours, and you're the one forced to be aggressive, since the moment satan hits field you automatically lose. No one ever has an actual answer to this. The meta will not change, it will be aggro decks trying to kill spellboost, control decks trying to kill aggro, and spellboost killing control decks (and occasionally highrolling aggro). The entire game is built around spellboos.

Roach only works because none of the other top decks want to go fast. They are all perfectly fine jacking off until mid lategame. Roach gets completely crushed by Face Dragon but face dragon is rarely an issue because 80% of the decks you play against destroy face dragon unless they get perfect curve while the other deck bricks.

Haven's best heal is +1/1, olivia is available for everyone. If you run dose you are gambling for a brick, though dose does have bit of a synergy with griffon as it costs no pp to engage. Soulcure may see a play in next exp, but we'll see. Salefa is necessary evil right now because of sword, it's mediocre otherwise.

Rune will brutalize ward haven even with just the current deck. Literally jusy stall a turn or 2 with kuon and williams then just cocytus dclimb like you always do against haven, but even easier to pull off becquse ward haven has even less out of hand damage.

I think you overestimate how hard it is to boost william. A william drawn t7 will be like 8+ boost by turn 8, and that's the worst case. And everything not william just needs to stall enough to bridge the gap between williams until you hit 10, which should be very easy considering the lack of out of hand damage from haven. From there it's just your usual cocytus dclimb shit.

2 extra hp isn't going to do shit to stop william from exploding ward haven's entire existence. Drawing just 2 williams over the match - easy to do with rune draw, should be more than enough to make it to 10 with a sevo intact for cocytus dclimb. If anything, the lack of a potential mainyu darkhaven highroll will make the matchup even easier for rune compared to current haven lists which already have a very hard time with rune.

We better not go 2 expansions without Bahamut.

We have Ceres which despite my shitting on it I've taken up using again. It's really not bad but it's kinda meta and matchup dependent. Mukan is something I can see becoming better as shadow generation becomes easier. He just costs too much at present. A big advantage they seem to want Abyss to have though is big effects that don't require evo points though. First off, you don't win against Portal, if you had an open deck and could play any card from the entire sword library, there's no counter for a decent AF draw, just accept the loss and move on.

As for literally every other matchup in the game, let's pick on the T0 deck(Forest) assuming you have a relatively shit draw.

Step 1 - Identifying wincon: Let's say in your starting hand you get no Storm cards, and no other 2pp card except for Squirrel and no Valse. Squirrel is now your wincon because in the current board clear meta, you can't expect anything you play to stick around unless it's untargetable making it the only thing in your hand that can hit face.

Step 2 - Calculating odds: The only counter Forest really has to Squirrel is Glade and Bug Bounce, however while ~100% of decks run Glade, I don't see BB that much so to use round numbers, if they have a 50% of running it and a 50% chance to draw it, that's a 25% of encountering it. If you evo a squirrel that's another 50% to hit the non evo'd one so there's an 80% chance it won't work, no one would complain about an 80% winrate deck so we take those odds and only play around Glade

Step 3 - Early game: In chess there's a saying “The opening is played to reach a middlegame you like; the middlegame is played to reach an endgame you like.” Now that we've established that Glade is the only threat we need to play around, and if we haven't drawn any other 2pp or any Storm, by definition that means that we must have Luminous cards in hand. Since Forest plays combo and doesn't rush down, we'll gladly avoid board presence T1-3 and take the 3-5 chip damage their 1/1s can do because from T3 onward, we build wide, expecting everything to die. Since everything will have at least 2 hp, Fairy won't be able to clear too well and Lily would be such shit value into 2/2s that we can expect a Glade drop to counter.

Step 4 - The swing: Now that Glade is out, we're golden. Assuming the worst case scenario of Glade not hitting anything to finish clearing our board, we can drop squirrel for 2pp, and spend 3pp on Lance, Ironcrown buff, QB, Valse or Amelia to clear Glade and leave the board reset

Assuming they get a Godwood proc off and factoring in Glade's 2 draw, they'll have drawn ( Starting 4 + Turn 6 + Effect 3) cards or 13 total, the odds of them drawing two Glades is 4%. We take option that wins 96% of the time.

Step 5 - Mid game: Assuming we had to use an Evo on clearing Glade, We now have 2 sEvos and 1 regular evo on our squirrel chain to deal 4+5+5 (14 damage) and we can use all of our our pp to simply dodge roach setup. There are so many ways the game can go from this point, but your job is to essentially dodge roach lethal, figure out how much damage they can do from hand, and keep your health above it.

Step 6 - End game: You may notice that 14 hp is less than 20 so we won't be able to kill off of squirrels alone, our outs are Amelia/Magus, Centaur, and T9 Albert. I'm too lazy to do the full odds but Centaur and Albert miss alone is sub 30% so you're looking at a >70% winrate play.

At the end of the day, it's no different from poker, your job is to understand the odds and play around them. You will play perfectly and still lose 3/10 games and that's fine. Just make sure you're playing the odds and over a long enough sample size, the law of averages conquers all.

Stop that, you're complaining about struggling in the early game while not using tools that explicitly help you to win in the early game. Abyss has no shortage of ways to kill shit. Spending one mana to kill someone's 2 drop isn't a massive loss. Your Mino just died? Use that Skeleton with Reaper to kill something else. Much of the Sword early board is low statted, this isn't Artifact Portal where everything has a fat ass for no reason. Moreover it's very common for Sword players to try and trade into YOU because you can actually kill them just as quickly as they kill you, and oftentimes sooner.

In my experience trying to combo sword is a recipe for disaster, however you can actually overwhelm them with your own board flood. Sword has like zero wide board clear, they flood the board and do nothing, if you can build wide into an empty board, they're kinda fucked because you can maintain tempo

Reaper isn't a good answer to sword's shit in the early game. Even if we take advantage of a skeleton to avoid having to sac something, we're just answering their dudes 1 for 1. That shit isn't sustainable when half of their deck is vomiting multiple followers onto the board per card.

Granted a bad answer is better than no answer, but abyss has no reasonable hope of stablizing until at best evo turns start and plays like apollo evo, orthus evo, and aragavy start coming online. Which wouldn't be that bad on its own, but we basically only have 8 fucking HP to work with because Albert can just snipe 12 by himself with no setup.

That's kind of what I mean about playing above HP thresholds. Maintain a HP total above 12 and keep yourself in the game. Orthrus (I don't care for her but she exists), Bellringers, Ceres, etc are also ways of keeping the ball in your court. Ceres straight up isn't something they can ignore and the easy answers (Hound and Valse) both hinder their ability to flood the board. Again the Sword matchup doesn't actually become difficult until turn 6.

I don't think she's actually good in that matchup. Sure, she slows down the face damage you're receiving by a tiny bit and replaces herself in your hand, but she doesn't trade for any enemy follower, so all their board flood keeps on advancing.
