F, a super handy mod that made the game more fun from someone I've never interacted with but directly impacted my enjoyment of the game with their work.
Unique guns are cool but there's not enough access to them. Theres also not enough of them, a lot of the vanilla guns just dont have Unique versions, like the Autopistol or normal Shotgun.

Haven't played in a year so filtering through my mods. Is it possibl for a mod to be removed from your list entirely with no trace? I have two in my list that arent of concern and are blank, but either im missing a no infestation in bases mod or forgetting entirely if that was an option.
Is there a simple toggle to stop bugs popping up in a base dug into mountains or mod that achieves that? because on my last playthrough I remember having something that did that (which also caused a huge bug hive beside my base that ruined the run)
I've even tried to load the old save just to check which mods it wants enabled but no dice on an infestation mod.
>>531214150PUAH is absolutely a cheat mode. It goes too far and makes hauling trivial.
However, vanilla hauling is dogshit so I can't really blame anyone for using it.
>DLC about exploring the world
>every time I go to the world map the game almost crashes
>>531220562download more RAM
>>531220525PUAH is about on par with wheelbarrows and storage containers in Dwarf Fortress. Vanilla Hauling is just another untouched relic from the beta, along with raids and factions. It's too much effort to actually update those features, so we get shit like Lovecraft monsters and gimmicky not-spaceships instead.
>>531220870>PUAH is about on par with wheelbarrows and storage containers in Dwarf Fortress. But those require you to build more infrastructure.
>>531210581 (OP)>Everybody Gets Onewas this integrated?
>>531221065It's not a large investment at all, especially since containers are reusable. Also, you know, Dwarf Fortress has up to 200 dwarfs so having ten or so dedicated haulers is a trivial cost. If you want a game about logistics, play Against the Storm.
I don't like pirating that much and I want to finally try out Rimworld. Are there some dlcs you feel like are must haves even for first playthroughs?

>>531220870it's not an "untouched relic" it's a source of challenge. a logistical problem. you can have pawns that are dedicated to hauling, or you can pull pawns that do other work and just have them haul. it takes a village and all that.
PUaH removed the problem, which trivializes a trivial game further.
>>531223550ah, I forgot he needs more recreation types than other pawns because he's the priest
>>531223879I remember last time I brought in the groceries. What a challenge! The ice cream melted because I had to bring in each individual item by itself, even though I can comfortably carry thirty kilograms for several kilometers!
>>531224369video games are not real life and should not be designed to be "realistic" you colossal retard
>>531224369nice argument. it's a game, it's not real life genius. can you into abstraction? do you understand gamifying concepts?
>>531224467>>531224553Do you understand making challenges meaningful? There's no interaction with logistics in vanilla Rimworld since the game lacks infrastructure. In Dwarf Fortress, you can build barrels and crates and wheelbarrows. In Against the Storm, there are multiple avenues to making logistics more efficient- cornerstones that create hauling robots, warehouses, upgraded roads to speed up villagers, and even better gear or storage options. Songs of Syx is all about city design and creating nodes for better logistics.
What options does Rimworld have? If you play pure vanilla as Tynan intended, you'll have a max of eight pawns- though the game will do its damndest to cull that number down to five- and you don't have anything you can craft or build to ease logistics. It's also why Tynan has repeatedly nerfed animal trainability- too many options for hauling and he hates watching players have fun.
>>531225125>In Dwarf Fortress, you can build barrels and crates and wheelbarrows.Which would be a huge improvement over PUAH just letting your pawns carry everything all at once.
I'm not defending vanilla hauling, I'm saying that PUAH goes too far in the other direction and trivializes the system instead of improving it.
I have outside phobia. I don't want to send my pawns to go anywhere. What if something happens to them or happens while they're away?
>>531225280wheelbarrows and the like would also trivialize it.
>build 2x wheelbarrowsDONE now anyone who can use a wheelbarrow is a planet-wide master hauler.
or, you know, you can look at your field of proto-cocaine rotting in the open and make a DECISION to prioritize hauling above other activities, redesignate labor or use a mob that allows you to designate priority hauling, and solve the problem, and your brain will reward you with serotonin.
>>531225661Or I can install a mod and get rewarded by not being frustrated by the dogshit pawn behavior.
NTA but I don't think it's even about the challenge. It's retarded for a pawn to pick up a single item and carry it back when there's the opportunity to save time by picking up more. Granted, it's also perhaps retarded for them to lug several kilos of unrelated crap at all times until they feel the need to empty their inventory. I suppose the answer is somewhere in the middle or better yet, it's wherever in the spectrum of by the book versus make your own experience you happen to land on.
Why with drafted pawns sometimes I can tell them to pick up everything to their inventory, and sometimes not? Even with available weight
>pigger receives emergency brain surgery in the field and becomes a trauma savant
do I recruit him?
>>531226083We at least need be able to manually pick up multiple items on our home map like the caravan inventory system can. It would be too tedious for large scale regular hauling but for small groups of important items may be worth the extra effort.
Landing on a space station in the new DLC but not being able to loot as you clear despite previously being allowed to in the underground bunkers just highlighted for me how arbitrary and annoying this mechanic is.
>>531226054sure, install the haul priority mod. i think it's a very good mod since you don't have to manually change a bunch of labor designations, which admittedly is a huge pain if you have several colonists.
the meta for full automation is dedicated haulers, either pawns or animals. i like the housekeeper cat, a trainable animal than can both haul and clean. its tremendously valuable for an animal, so having them is not without risk.
Preparing to say goodbye to my sorta cube colony...
Nomadic kinda fucking sucks as a meme. I was hoping it would be a more gradual curve towards the desire to leave over the course of a quadrum, but nope, two days in a single spot and everyone is bitching about it.

I have started a new game after a long long time of setup, exploring what the new maps look like. Finally decided to start. Tribal playthrough so I'll have a very slow burn with the new things showing up, as I also have not checked what exactly was added so I hope to be surprised by fun things as I tech up.
The tribe is a bit of a sausage fest, but they're all very competent. It just means I'll have to deal with no convenient lover & marriage mood buffs for the early game. That being said, only 2 have a passion for shooting, and 1 has a passion for melee + nimble, so I'll have to be careful with defenses.
The map itself is very cool. A basin on a 30/60 temperate forest. A lot of fertile land for a map that isn't technically "fertile". Nicely defensible terrain. A squirrel habitat means a fuck ton of squirrels which is annoying because hunting small animals sucks ass, but I'll live. The water also has a total of 188 fish. I have no idea how fishing works, so I don't know if that's a lot, but I hope it could complement food income in winter. Ideally I'll get to exploring orbital shit sometime in ~2-4 in-game years.
>>531236086unironic cheat mods exist but you can make super soldiers base game they just need some downsides or "downsides"
>>531236086This gene pack would result in something like x800% hunger rate if not for the cap at -5 metabolic efficiency, which is why the limit is -5 too. If you had this absurd hunger rate, your pawns would likely starve to death in a single day, at best.
>>531235615>constant updatesThe game can't even update once every year, what are you talking about. And simple xml mods like that usually don't need any work. Also there already is a ratkin xenotype so you can save yourself the trouble.
>>531236337I'm not interested specifically in ratkin just an easy example I assume anons are familiar with
>>531235615I honestly have no idea what you mean. I suppose if you rip the assets to make custom genes, you will never have to worry about it unless Tynan does a big update. If you mean using the genes from ratkin mods I can't tell you. AFAIK ratkin are HAR which doesn't use genes at all.
I would look for a ratkin genes mod, which there probably is, considering how popular they are. Then you will only have to worry if the mod creator has a melty or something.

I'm doing this as a run currently, completely vanilla, and I'm having a very difficult time doing much of anything as tribals. The winter is destroying me, my pawns refuse to listen to what I've prioritized manually, and they dont even start with shelves.
What am I doing wrong?
>>531242894its a challenge especially in a tight space such a spaceship
>>531243001Make pemmicans, hunt things in winter because you get free refrigeration, build on steam geyser if it gets too cold, etc.
I think your run is dead once you reach mortar research anyway, doesn't sound like it's possible to fight only using mortars
>>531243075You can use bedrooms for low priority storage.
>>531243001everything probably. First thing you research as a tribal is furniture. There are particular priorities they will satisfy first if its all marked as equal, but generally they will always follow the numbers, meaning they will do 1 first, 2 second.

>megasloths cant actually haul in a caravan
FUCK, ok what do i do with these hairy fuckers on a warm biome?
>>531244005No, numbers have higher priority. They will always do 1 from left to right first, and then do a lower number.
>>531244005>Will they prioritize 2 if it's more to the left of a 1im not 100% but i think no, you could always remove that job from them completely and specialize, thats what the game wants you to do anyway.
However vannila hauling sucks massive dick, you either should have a bunch of hauling animals, mechs or children at some point, if you dont use "Pick Up And Haul" which is generally more sensible.
>>531244294Tame them for wool or slaughter for fuck tons of meat.

>>531242218with the size constraints a barracks makes more sense. even a 3x3 is going to give you the shit room debuff. and a 3x3 has to be a 5x5 with walls. that's huge.

We have finally finished clothing research as we reach fall. As if on cue, 2 different traders arrive, only a day apart; a shaman merchant to whom we sell all our old pemmican, and now a bulk goods trader to sell the vast majority of our excess food and leather. What is this, divine providence? (randy random btw)
>>531249725>>531249927Well I know about wealth scaling but I figure the dozen or so spike traps will help thin out any raid, at which point our recurve bows and barricades should be decent enough to kill off the rest. Then again this trader arrived perfectly in time to shed off excess wealth.

Fishing does indeed still work in the winter, and it will serve as an ingredient of fine meals to improve our colonist's worsening mood due to the cold & lack of proper clothing for it while our tailors works his ass off.

Workstation piping. You put all of your workstations deep within the core of your ship and activate them in another room.
>>531250498Cassandra is the "boom & bust" storyteller (and 'bust' in this circumstance does not mean a supple bosom)
You will get random positive events and then several bad ones back to back. Most positive events don't help much, whereas a raid + disease, raid + raid, raid+ infestation, disease + toxic fallout, etc. etc. etc. are all pretty rough.
>>531252724it's a very good game in an age when everything is some chore simulator, or eye candy, whatever. it's absolutely solid and gives you a ton of freedom to do what you want. it's one of the best sandbox games of all time, and it's difficulty curve is extremely generous on easier settings. nonetheless it can be vicious on higher difficulties.

You can watch interviews with certain people involved in AI who see themselves, unironically, as just kindling for a future, self-evolving AI. They don't care about how it can help humanity. They don't care to chain the AI to humanity.
And that doesn't even factor in to people giving AI rights to spite other groups. The funniest example I can think of will be AI girlfriends. Running a cooler on a ship in space should make one part of the ship cooler while another part gets warmer, and the net temperature change across the entire ship should be for it to get slightly hotter from the wasted energy of running the cooler.
To cool off in space, you'd want to install some fins that radiate photons in response to heat, which would slowly let you shed heat via infrared radiation. And you gotta make sure they're pointed at the void. If they catch sunlight, directly or reflected from a planet or something, they absorb heat instead.

>>531292597Cerebrex node just too weak to be actually useful. I mean a bandwidth pack give +9 already. At least should be +21
>>531297363>being able to summon a mech raid on enemies (or just for a good chunk of metal) and then disable the surviving mechs isnt actually useful
>>531297558>send 100 militors or 50 scythers
>Guys look at this new this dlc it allows you to be a space nomad!
>Actually you can't because there's a maximum ship size of a baseball court
>Actually you can't even go to space the most you can do is hump an asteroid for no reason at all
>Also enjoy spending 30 minutes exploring these empty ruins and lose half your pawns to exploding traps just for 3 component boxes and 16 package meals
>start expanding the ship>suddenly angry rhinosfuck off randy
>>531297001It was causing the graphics to fuck up constantly, I imagine it's related to the new variable tick rate thing added in 1.6
>>531297751yeah highmates expanded give em cat ears and tails. also gives you a highmate colonist upon reaching baron title with royalty and gives psychic bonds unique effects.
>>531298032Im just feeling buyer morse. Leave me be.
>>531297820send mechs in first
>>531298189The fact that the whole "space travelling" in this spaceship dlc is just a loading screen is insane.
Imagine a horse racing dlc where you get the slg part of grooming your horse, yet the horse racing part is just a loading screen.
Me big mad.
Space baby has evolved into space child.
>>531298841rape and impregnation
>>531298498Space travelling was obnoxious from start. With a plant with so many different biomes what you need other planets for?
>just arrested all the vampires after they did their orgy
yoooooo looks whos getting 4 super soldiers
>99% vacuum resistance
t-that's enough, right?

Just kidding I want to do a unmanned space prison where I get to watch a retard prison break and get outside just to die to space vacuum
>>531299414Turned on dev mode to see if there's a hidden hediff. It's good enough for a while but exposure still builds.
The Trooper armor also has vac resist but caps out at 85%, vac burn at 3% exposure.
Will the book tell me why the power armor that is locked behind more advanced research is worse than the vacsuits? Why even give them vac resist if they can't be combined for 100%? Are there areas in the game with values between 0 and 100% vacuum other than the ship with a leak?
>>531299585eey Donald, out of alligators already?
>>531297820>no events using rituals (like taking off with your ship) or something to disable and board other gravships>can't even explore moons and shitI hope that one guy who made Rimnauts 2 comes back
>>531297029can you move that tree?
also, I have seen a lot of my granite walls suddenly dissapearing (I'm on vanilla) anyone knows what might be happening? wheneve I check, there's suddenly some missing chunks of walls.
>getting to that part of the game where it'd be good to renovate
>get analysis paralysis
>Ate fungus
Is Tynan a subhuman who hates mushrooms?
And for some stupid fucking reason they can taste it through a paste dispenser too.
>>531300431"It's the texture" -Tynan, probably.
vat grown fungus the way asimov intended
>>531300563asimov was a subhuman slav
>>531300629he was a gay (as in satanic) communopedo
>>531300431idk that's a weird one for sure. I fucking love mushrooms.
But maybe these ones are genetically engineered to grow fast and taste like shit or something game design
>>531300904Having it through nutrient paste is the dumbest part of it.
The whole point of nutrient paste is that it's tasteless unidentifiable paste
Are the new mammoths good?
>>531300932lol, lmao. Female supremacy meme?
thread slave, bake a new thread
>>531299714Does quality not affect vac resist?
>>531300932pushing up the middle with my massive tank
>>531302409No. It affects sharp blunt protection, but because the base value is so shit, quality doesnt matter. Even a legendary vacsuit will die to a pistol bullet to the face.
Marine armor etc also offers vacuum protection and really you should just skip vacsuit and jump straight to power armors.
>>531302409I didn't consider that, but it doesn't. Both an awful Marine Armor and legendary have 30% vac resist. Marine helmet adds 67%. Almost total coverage, but not enough to stave off vacuum completely.
Now I need to ask myself if using rimmsqol to make marine and cataphract armor airtight goes against the book
>>531303093shouldnt there be something else you can wear
>>531303223What, like gloves or boots? Sorry, small indie dev studio, maybe in the next DLC.
>>531303223I'm trying to look but I'm not seeing anything, Odyssey didn't add any kind of life support utility packs, marine boots and gloves don't have vac resist
>>531303418isnt there some skin layer suit you can make from fabrication
I forgot marine boots and gloves aren't even vanilla. Fine, I can give them vac 5-10% vac resist and call it a day.
>>531303543Not in Core or Odyssey. Odyssey only adds vacsuit. The only bodysuits I have are from other mods and they don't have vacresist yet
>>531303924Ah that's right, we're SUPPOSED to wear paper-thin armor if we want to go in vacuum, or risk suffocation if we want protection. Why did I ever doubt tyrone?
>baby having a tantrum because he can't cheat
>>531303924Using mods in Rimworld is like using mods in a Bethesda game: mandatory.
>>531304334Post your colony right now
All I'm saying is that it's questionable design that the cataphract armor that's deeper in the techtree and needs techprints to unlock isn't airtight
>>531304405good analogue: majority of bethesda players do not use mods
>>531304486post yours first
>>531304195Correct, things have trade offs that you need to weigh the pros and cons of using your brain. This is what is known as good game design. Read the book
>>531304405The only mods I agree with is storage mod for spaceship because having a hard max ship size is retarded.
>>531305015Character Editor and some mod that adds boots and gloves are the absolute bare minimum.
>>531305015>storage mod for spaceshipremoves any difficulty or balance
>Dood, this game is impossible to play without mods!
Rimworld mods:
>Porn shit
>Anime shit
>Cosmetic shit
>Bloat
>>531305015Thank fucking GOD for storage mods, I swear I've quit a few times playing this game because storage was such a fucking pain in the ass.
>caring about balance
big retard moment
>>531305112Yes I love my constant mental breakdown spaceship run because my pawns can't deal with having to sleep in a 2x1 bedroom.
>>531305252>Cosmetic shitVanilla is actually ugly to look at
I installed a mod that makes all my colonists immortal. Losing colonists was such a pain in the ass
how good is this so called pick up and haul mod? i've been dev deleting stuff because i couldn't be arsed to fill in 5 spreadsheets to move them around
>>531305373what you mean
don't you enjoy having gigantic warehouses for single stack items
>>531305446Well none of the mods make it a hand drawn masterpiece so you can't change that
>>531305252>play with doll house>want doll house to look nice>give dolls nice things because they will enjoy itI'm sorry, anon, but if you want a colony sim based around actual challenge, you might want to try Against the Storm or something.
>remove challenge from video game with cheat mods
>heh, this game is soooo easy
Explain balancing to me when you're technologically advanced enough to build a spaceship yet somehow can't build basic things like refrigerators and the only vanilla alternative is to build a walk-in freezer that takes half your starter ship available space
>>531305756Video games can be fun without being challenging, insisting that every game needs to be arbitrarily difficult is autistic, the bad kind
make a new thread so i can drop CE propaganda
>>531305827For me it's embrasures.
I mean I understand balance but I refuse to believe my pawns can build fucking space ships but making a hole in a wall is too hard.
I counter balance by playing in higher difficulties.
>>531305947it actually cant

>>531305947>Video games can be fun without being challengingNo. The game is either challenging, it's 0/10 or not a game at all
Embrasures are only OP without CE
With CE Embrasures make sure your colonists get shot in the face everytime
>>531305592This isn't a doll house tho. It's a colony sim
We went like 9 hours in peace and look where we are now, back to fighting about the way other people play the game
>Action figure is just the boy version of playing with dolls
>>531266497That lags the game.
>>531306602americans are waking up
>>531262048>Click random>"On death: Explosion (4 radius, flame), everyone>Why not>Was fun for 2 minutes>Realize I can't hunt for meat because everytime my colonists walk-in to finish off a downed animal itll explode and lit my colonist on fire>Can't even slaughter my own chicken without turning my barn into ashes>Human raids became a joke (chain explosion). No loot or captives though. All downed raiders simply burnt to death.>Mech raids are incredibly broken (mechs sre immune to fire)>Infestation became absolute deadly because room goes to 1000 degree in 5 seconds>
>>531306760sounds like an epic youtube video, should've recorded it
>>531306602>9 hoursThread shitter woke up to pretend to care about how other people play a game he doesn't play
>no colonies posted
you fags don't play the game
>Odyssey is the best DLC ever!
>What's so good about it?
>Well, [Lists 1.6 patch improvements that are part of the game for free]
>>531299714>Will the book tell me why the power armor that is locked behind more advanced research is worse than the vacsuits? The vacsuit is a specialised space suit. Marine armour isn't.
>Why even give them vac resist if they can't be combined for 100%? So you can have armoured pawns that can survive in space, at least for a bit, without their eyeballs boiling immediately. Long enough for an excursion onto a hostile mechanoid space station, not long enough to live there.
>dollhouse schizo is posting again
>>531307276The only thing that is good without a doubt is the extra animal and insect types. And QoL like you can finally call for a space trader instead of just sitting afk waiting for one.
