I think that's too simple of a deduction to accurately say someone is a normalfag. Look at Just the Gems and DavidVinc; they grow up with this shit but they also dislike the more tropey stuff because of their politics/they think times have changed. Trails just filters people because despite what these guys say, you have to play everything, except maybe Kuro 2, to get the most out of it. I think it's more about the fact that most people still haven't finished the first game. I can also see a bad word of mouth and foul reputation Daybreak 2 has influencing the decision to hold off from buying it untill a good discount on steam. I can pretty much guarantee that Horizon will do better on steam, but not by a huge margin. Can't say anything about sky remake aside that there's a possibility that it might reach the highest concurrent players out of all the kiseki games on steam, but it's like 3k at most.

From a skim through, I think it's doing the highest numbers for a Kiseki sequel right now, being beaten by FC, CS1, and Kuro 1.

The super ironic thing is that the haters for CS have so much more brain rot than the fans of that arc who either peaced out after Hajimari or just fixate on what they already like sequestered away.

I feel like with hajimari it did a good job answering shit that cs4 didn’t answer and should have answered. It clarified a lot of things about ironbloods and Osbornes goal and Reans whole character arc conclusion and realization. Reverie is a game that allowed cs arc not to end with cs4. But to end with reverie and since the route thing and no bonding events or quests gave breathing room for development so Rean and Rufus had a better reception and ending than in cs4. Well that's the years when kiseki had the biggest surge in hype and popularity, because of the CS3 ending. After CS4 and NISA delaying Hajimari and Kuro for 3 years the hype has died out and kiseki reputation never recovered. It wouldn't be AS bad if falcom didn't fuck over the Calvard arc with Kuro 2, as for Kai it's hard to tell what reaction the fans in the west will have, but assuming people loved CS3 ending in the west the same will happen with Kai.

Back to the topic, as I said Sky remake has a really decent chance at getting the success it needs in the west. Mind you I don't expect sales and numbers similar to something like Atelier, but it will do better than Daybreak.

Anons, am I the only one having trouble beating that Executor monster in front of that trading hub building in Anchorville during the Red Night? Playing on Nightmare and it's ridiculously unbalanced. If I don't cancel out the negative 1.5x damage Brave order it one hit kills my party. Problem is that if that masked faggot spams the anti Brave order right before the Executor's turn I can't cancel it out and its game over. I even overleveled to lvl 53 by grinding poms in Grim Garten. Still no chance. Don't remember when I last time had such issues in a Kiseki boss fight, if ever. What am I doing wrong?

As for Ys - play Ys 1&2 Chronicles first, then Oath in Felghana, then Ys Origin, then Dawn of Ys for PCE CD if youre based enough, and only play the rest if you actually get interested in the series as a result, but these 3 are mandatory. According to Kondom they're working on sequel to Kai in parralel with sky remake. Right now it's probably a small team handling the script and programming, once sky remake is finished all their resources will be allocated to Kai 2, well that's what Kondom said anyway. He also said they'll take the critism of Kai into consideration, but grim sharten and connect events won't go anywhere. It's not that the connect events are bad. They contain a really important information for the characters and in some cases even have interesting development. Locking these scenes behind an optional content is stupid (at least it's not as bad as in Zero/Ao). Kondo said that Van needs to be alone or rather "only Van needs to know" these events. But they can easily squeeze some of the events into the main story and giving Van an excuse to be alone. Elaine 2nd, Shizuna 2nd and Agnes 2nd connect events should've been in the main story in my opinion.

The Garten as a concept is fine. A randomly generated dungeon where you can use your entire party and grind for goodies and exp is cool.
The problem is they made it so fucking boring. Every floor has like 2 or 3 slight variations in layout and the only objectives are 'Kill X enemies' and 'activate 3 devices'. After the first few runs it just becomes a menial chore with very little benefit.
I think if they just added some more variety to the floor layouts, add more objectives, and bring back mini bosses like the ones from Reverie it will no longer be something you dread doing every chapter.

Issue also is that players should be allowed to skip grim garten right? The harem thing didn't feel like too much with Joshua because he only had eyes for Estelle, because Kloe keeps her feelings hidden and unsaid until her door in 3rd, and because Josette was an orbiter at best.
With Lloyd, it is kind of unbelievable that the series' premier bombshell babe Rixia is in love with him, but Rixia is a pretty meh character so whatever. Lloyd and Joshua get the most compliments about their physical appearance, with many characters talking about how handsome Joshua is and about Lloyd having a baby face. His harem isn't too wild, it's just 4 girls: Elie, Tio, Noel and Rixia. Cecile, Ilya and Fran are semi-orbiters, with only Fran seemingly having feelings for him and with Ilya wanting to tease Lloyd and Cecile supposedly just seeing him as a little brother but also down to fuck him.
With Rean the size of the harem, how often people comment on it, how forced some of the relationships feel and how it grows a little in basically every game he is in is overkill and I don't see how people don't see that at all. Two characters eating pizza isn't the same if one characters a personal pie he heats up in the microwave and the other guy eats pizza from Italy done in a brick oven with a lot of expensive toppings like truffles; that's the nature of the comparisons here.
I think only Alisa, Towa and maybe Laura had enough development with Rean to warrant being in love with him. Emma could have also been the canonical or at least way stronger and believable love interest had the "witches guide awakeners" thing panned out the way it was supposed but instead we get Celine as the proto-Altina. And don't get me wrong, I think Josette likes Joshua for superficial reasons and the writing really doesn't merit her being in love with him and not being over him in the Cold Steel games. Ditto for Elie and Fran; I think they got close to Lloyd but Fran just kinda likes him out of nowhere and you want me to buy Elie falls for him after one cheesy speech?

At best it plants the seeds but Rean best character growth comes in 2, the game basically undoes it with the Osborne is alive twist and you helped him all along, and then it takes till then end of 3, some moments of 4, and basically Reverie to have something that surpassed how he grew in 2.

There's a lot I wasn't really satisfied with in Kai but I think people were a lot harder on it than they otherwise would have been because of Kuro 2 not really contributing anything to the arc. If Kai followed Kuro 1 there would be way less dooming but the problem is that we don't live in that reality and I think Falcom should have made more of en effort with the characters to make up for Kuro 2. They're so focused with this arc for trying to set up the endgame that they don't really give you a lot to tide you over in the meantime. It feels like you're just playing 3 games of waiting.

Yeah Kondo is really fixated on making Calvard's ending with the whole series in mind. He was pretty vocal about it since Kuro 1 release saying that Calvard ending will be the biggest milestone in the series for them. Kuro 2 is definitely the biggest reason for Kai major criticisms + Kondo set the wrong expectations with the whole "Kuro no Kiseki final chapter" and all interviews saying that Kai will end the Calvard arc.
